“The falling away of the church”:

THIS CONCEPT CANNOT BE FOUND

IN THE BIBLE AT ALL!

JAN LILLEBY

The concept of a supposed ‘theological prophecy’ – which is called in Christianity for “The Falling Away” – is widely spread around in several denominations.

The concept has in it a scenario in which the Christian Church…world-wide…and by considerable numbers, shall all of a sudden fall away from its belief in Jesus Christ.

Well, this is how it goes if one is not rightly dividing the word of God. The known theologian Miles Coverdale, in the prologue of his 1535 Coverdale Bible wrote,

"It shall greatly help ye to understand the Scriptures if thou mark not only what is spoken or written, but of whom and to whom, with what words, at what time, where, to what intent, with what circumstances, considering what goeth before and what followeth after."

I recently watched a video posted in YouTube, in which Dr. David Jeremiah, born in 1941, Southern Baptist pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, near San Diego, CA, held a sermon regarding this very topic, The Falling Away of the Church.

Let me also say that I have no personal grudges or any sort of disrespect towards this Christian pastor, neither do I have any knowledge of him as to how he conducts his personal life etcetera. God bless this pastor in His Grace. But he seems to be one representing this kind of concept, so I chose to refer to him in that regard. He is one among quite a number of pastors holding this Bible view. Here, in my homeland Norway, I have heard several times pastors/preachers referring to this so-called apostasy of the Church. So it’s nothing new…this doctrinal sidetrack has existed quite some time I think. Now, having given you a name and a local church, - why not go to their web site and check what is taught in the various topics? David Jeremiah seems to be a capable and learned pastor, and I am confident that he might be able to help you in your faith, if you seek for answers regarding the Bible in general.

However, after listening to and watching his sermon, I have to say that I do not agree to his assertions of such a scenario, in which the Christian Church will – in considerable numbers - fall away from the faith in Christ. Whether the entire Church or a minor or major fraction of it.

I shall shortly come to details why I disagree – but much of that rests on the fact that the apostle Paul, in his teachings to the Thessalonians, did not address the Church.

He addressed only the ‘Israel of God’ – that is, the Jesus-believers inside Jewry and their proselytes (we often call them the Messianic believers) and NOT THE CHURCH AT ALL. As Paul wrote his prophecy, the Church dispensation had not yet been revealed/established!

This mirrors off from my Coverdale-quote above. The entire book of Acts was written only regarding the Messianic believers and their leadership…the apostles. The book is displaying how it was that Israel fell away from God as His nation on earth. I recommend that you read my book on this topic, and you can down load it here on my site free of charge; title “The Book of Acts – The Story of Israel’s Falling Away From God”.

Paul’s word on the ‘Falling Away’ concept, 2 Thes. 2:1-4, NASB,

“1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,

2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.

3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless * the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.

We clearly see how it was that Paul was concerned for his believers at Thessalonica: He obviously had heard bad (false) rumors regarding the Parousia, - Greek for the Second Advent of Christ. In other words: that Jesus already may have come back down to Israel…Paul calling it for ‘the day of the Lord’, Verses 1 and 2.

Verse 3 is Paul’s explanation of how it will become in the days before His second coming: ISRAEL (not the Church) is taken with apostasy – a ‘falling away’ – from their God as a nation. That is, the entire nation being regarded as having fell from God, and Him no longer being their God.

This apostasy is going to cause that infamous person in Bible prophecy to come forth in Israel: the Anti-Christ; the man of lawlessness, the son of destruction – who occupies the temple and claim to be their God, or rather…Israel’s Messiah King. He will be stealing the seat which only can belong to Jesus Christ, verse 4.

THE APOSTASY HAPPENED BACK IN 60 CE

 WHEN PAUL ARRIVED ROME

From my book “The Story of Israel’s Falling Away From God” I have clipped in the following:

The preaching of the earthly Kingdom of God is found in Acts 1:3-6 as Bible truth for the believers at that time; later – in Acts 19:8 we find Paul using three months to preach the Kingdom of God to the synagogue at Ephesus, and finally we find him still preaching the Kingdom of God in Acts 28:31! This tells us that the Acts has ONLY the Kingdom of God as the Gospel-truth at that time, all throughout the 30 years of Acts history. God cannot have two kinds of Gospels, one with the kingdom on earth as hope of salvation, and the other one as heaven up above as hope of salvation. It has to be one or the other, and not both. It is impossible that these two types of Gospels could have run side by side.

This cannot come clearer, but tells us that the Church, the ‘One New Man’ the Body of Christ is not found in the entire Acts story. It all deals with Israel and how they were influenced by the apostles, and how the end result came out negative with the falling away of Israel. They said No Thanks! - To the bitter end.

If we find such clear evidence of one singular type of message over a period of more than thirty years, like the one we can call ‘The Kingdom Gospel to Israel’ – mentioned in my clip, this means there are no way to escape these Bible facts, not to mention Bible truths!

Acts 1 and Jesus revealing Himself to His disciples for 40 days, teaching them the cause of the Kingdom of God on earth with Himself as their King, and how to go preaching it, was in 28 CE. Paul at Ephesus in Acts 19, was around 55-56 CE – 25-28 years later than Pentecost Acts 2; and finally Paul arriving Rome early summer 60 CE and met with the Sanhedrin counsel in which he was declined, as the counsel did not repent – all of them – believing on Jesus as the Messiah. Luke ended his book by Acts 28:31 telling of Paul still pounding on the shut door of Jewry, trying to persuade them of Jesus as Messiah. This was in 62 CE, 34 years after Pentecost Acts 2.

The message in those years was only the Gospel of the earthly millennial Kingdom of God, promising Jesus as the King of Israel at His Second Advent.

Peter clearly reflected this in his second speech in Acts 3, as he claimed that the entire nation should repent and believe on Jesus Christ, as in Acts 3:19-23, NASB,

“19 Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

20 and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you,

21 whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time.

22 "Moses said, 'THE LORD GOD WILL RAISE UP FOR YOU A PROPHET LIKE ME FROM YOUR BRETHREN; TO HIM YOU SHALL GIVE HEED to everything He says to you.

23 'And it will be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.”

There are three main issues found in Peter’s speech, all concerning Israel, and none concerning the Church dispensation. Peter knew nothing of any future Church dispensation…like what God revealed to Paul (Eph. 3:1-3).

The first is: Israel had to repent as a nation, ALL of them, so God could send them the restoration of Israel, by having Jesus return from heaven and establish the promised Kingdom, verses 19-21.

The second is: the fact that such a future restoration of Israel, is depending upon the whole nation to repent first, Verse 21.

The third is: if not repenting (as a whole nation) they would be utterly destroyed…which history proves really happened, as Rome crushed the nation in 70 CE, and burnt the temple down. Verses 22 and 23, Peter referring to Moses’ prophecy of doom.

Jesus prophesied several times of the destruction of Jerusalem…and He even wept over the cruel disaster which would hit them at that future day, due to their lack of repentance to the Lord. Also we find in Mat. 22:7 that the destruction to come, would be an act of revenge, since the nation was guilty in murdering His messengers, namely the apostles. The King got infuriated and sent His soldiers (the Roman army) and killed those murderers, Jesus said in His prophetic parable.

Within the time of Acts, 28 – 62 CE, the nation had fallen away from God, which is the very same as the apostasy told by Paul in 2 Thes. 2:1-3.

No folks, the concept which has ridden Christianity as a Damocles Sword for decades – a supposed Falling-away-of-the-Church – is nowhere to be found in the Bible. It only exists in the minds of preachers and ministers who did not bother to go rightly dividing the word of God.

Israel is not the same as the Church, and vice-versa. The two are entirely different regarding doctrine of faith.

Israel was only offered to have the earthly Kingdom of God by Him sending down His Messiah King, Jesus. But the Church, the ‘one new man’ as found in Eph. 2:13-15 has a heavenly calling and hope of salvation. Paul had a fresh new revelation of a hidden or secret truth which God had kept to Himself in all ages: that the Law of Moses would be abolished, and the wall of partition torn down between Gentiles and Jews, so by faith creating that ‘one new man’ – the Church for which Jesus is the Head.

This abolishment of the Law happened back at the cross 28 CE, but Jesus kept this truth to Himself, but finally revealed it to Paul as he was in jail in Rome (the second jailing) in 63-67 CE. Jesus did not reveal this truth in the entire time of Acts. This is easily traced by checking Acts for when and where any believer openly kept observing the Law. Paul is found observing the Law regarding Sabbath, as well as going to Jerusalem for Pentecost. James and the elders at Jerusalem testified in Acts 21:20 (year 58 CE) that thousands of believers among Israel’s population were zealous for the Law of Moses! It was PAUL, NOT PETER who was entrusted with this new revelation, of the Church consisting of members from all the world, and not only Israel and proselytes. But it had not been revealed to Paul in Acts time.

In Paul’s two only Church epistles, Ephesians and Colossians, he wrote not one single word anticipating any kind of a future mishap - of the Church leaving its faith in Christ behind!

Such a serious matter would most certainly have been taught in his two only Church epistles if it was true.

Here is what Paul wrote, as an essence of what the Grace-Gospel means to a believer,

Eph. 2:8-9, NASB,

“8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

WHAT OTHER BELIEFS ARE OFTEN FOUND WITH

CHURCHES WHICH TEACHES OF A FUTURE APOSTACY?

I cannot say that all of these errors are found inside the Shadow Mountain Community Church in San Diego. You will have to check for yourselves. But here is what I often find many places in the world, and most often in USA, sorry to say:

  • The so-called Great Tribulation and Armageddon, will come upon the entire world.

  • God will sternly punish USA (and every nation) for its sinful ways and for ridiculing or persecuting Christian faith communities.

  • The so-called ‘Rapture of the Church’ as in 1 Thes. 4 will rescue all Christian believers from the Great Tribulation, and transfer the Church up into heaven.

I could list more issues, but I stop at these three.

All of these are in error.

The Great Tribulation will only hit Israel in the end times, and it is rightfully called by Jer. 30:7 for ..the times of trouble for Jacob. When Jesus went to the cross, He warned those who stood alongside the road, and said  …. Luke 23:28-30, NASB,

28 Daughters of Jerusalem, stop weeping for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

29 For behold, the days are coming when they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.'

30 Then they will begin TO SAY TO THE MOUNTAINS, 'FALL ON US,' AND TO THE HILLS, 'COVER US.'

We find this tribulation scenario in Rev. 6:15-17 – frightened people in Israel calling out to the mountains to hide them from the wrath of the Lamb! Notice above, verse 28 in Luke 23: AND FOR YOUR CHILDREN. The ancestors of the Jews in the time of Jesus – the children – point clearly to a future Israel, and the mountains locally inside Israel’s land.

Jesus, as He comes down to stop the tribulation and the killings, set His feet upon Mt. Olives, which is right nearby Jerusalem; and the place shall be split in two according to Zec. 14:4,

"On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half the mountain moving to the north and half to the south."

How Christianity has gotten itself so wayward regarding understanding of the Bible, amazes me. Can they not read for themselves what is written???

My point 2 above, of God sending punishment upon nations for their sinful ways, is just as ridiculous as that of the idea of a world-wide ‘Hell on Earth’ tribulation. The criminal evils and all wickedness whatever it might be, is not punished in particular for any particular sin, whether murder, rape, illegal narcotic distribution, fraud, theft and other crimes…as well as eventual persecution of religious people, Christians or others, will not be cast into the Great Tribulation for punishment! In Church dispensation, God handles humanity from out of GRACE…we are in a Grace-dispensation (Greek, oikonomia) – also called stewardship or administration. God does not cast certain judgements and doom on certain villains or groups of ‘evil doers’ anywhere.

Only Israel will be targeted by God for punishments and huge scaring disasters. It will kick in shortly after God has taken His believing church into heaven, according to Col. 3:1-4to be revealed with Christ in glory…which, by the way, is not the same operation as Paul once called the rapture (1 Thes 4).

My point 3 – the error of believing that the so-called RAPTURE UP IN CLOUDS at Jesus Second Advent, is meant for the Church dispensation. This teaching by Paul to the Thessalonians (1 Thes 4:15-18) was for the ‘Israel of God’ – the Messianic believers in the Acts time, as they all expected Jesus to come for them as He should establish His Kingdom in Israel at their repentance. The nation never repented, and Jesus could therefore not come down to Israel (Greek, Parousia) – and thus coming down He should gather the saints up in clouds and land them in Jerusalem. The so-called ‘rapture’ was only promised to the Acts-body of believers, and does not concern the Church dispensation. The rapture will thus never happen, since the nation of Israel fell away from God.

The rapture was only for the Kingdom-saints, those who expected Jesus to establish His promised Kingdom in Israel!

AND WITHOUT FAITH…

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE

GOD

JAN LILLEBY

The false movement in Christendom called for ‘Universalism’ – is teaching (mainly) the doctrine of ‘all human kind is saved, regardless of faith or no faith in God and Christ’.

The entire world is saved whether they believe or not. Even if there exists several fractions inside Universalism, all of these are quoting that one will be saved regardless of faith or no faith.

Such nonsense is killed as soon as we pull up Heb. 11:6, NASB,

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

These few words expresses the essence of the entire concept of having faith in God – because without doubt it clearly points out to us that one has to please God in order to be saved by God, for all eternity. If we please God, then He gives us His glorious reward: eternal salvation.

If we do not first please God, by having faith in Him, then it follows from such lack of faith, that God shall not let any unbeliever be given eternal salvation. It implicates now, in the aftermath of Christ’s First Advent, that believing on God, is believing on Jesus Christ!

It has consequences NOT to believe in God, and it has consequences believing in God. We have been given but two options. One saves you for eternity; the other leaves you without any salvation whatsoever.

Hebrews 11:6 is God’s key-word in this entire matter. And this passage is reflected very clearly in Paul’s teachings regarding his gospel message. It is also a Biblical truth, that Heb. 11:6 is an inter-dispensational key-word.

In Hebrews this passage is gold-framed by several examples of Bible personalities who had faith, - such as Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, - David and Samuel and the prophets.

If these super-prominent believers from the times of Old Testament had to have FAITH in God, then I can assure you all that we in our time have to have faith also.

We believe on Jesus Christ, the Son of the Almighty God and Creator.

If we had not believed on Him, we all would go lost for eternity; - we would have died without any hope of salvation.

PAUL REFLECTING HEB. 11:6

The opening greeting in Ephesians tells us a lot, Eph. 1:1, NASB,

“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to the saints who are at Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus”.

Paul wrote to  believers. Not to the ‘unbelievers at Ephesus’!

He immediately set the stage without any hesitation…addressing them all as FAITHFUL in Christ. They all believed on Jesus Christ, and thus they also was ‘set aside for God’ – which is the same as being SAINTS. God had by their faith in His Son Jesus Christ, set these faithful believers aside for Himself, and thus saved them by faith, for all eternity.

How did they come to faith in Jesus Christ?

Answer: By Paul’s earlier visits to the city – seen in Acts 19 – as he preached Jesus to them, telling them that Jesus was the genuine Messiah (Christ, in Greek) for Israel.

Paul was sent to testify to them of Jesus. Their faith came as they heard Paul’s testimony and his explanation of the Word of God, proving Jesus as the Messiah. Paul was divinely backed up by extraordinaire miracles and wonders.

The whole point of Paul’s visit to Ephesus and other towns in Asia Minor, had been to get people everywhere to come to FAITH in Christ, for their salvation!

The foolish and lying idea of God as savior of all human kind - regardless of faith or no faith, is self-dead and out of question by these few words from the Bible.

PETER DECLARED UNBELIEVERS AS ENTIRELY LOST

Not only Paul reflected the truth of Heb. 11:6 regarding faith to please God. Peter did this as well. The principle of Heb. 11:6 is inter-dispensational.

2 Peter 3:15-18, NASB,

“15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you,

16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,

18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.»

Peter’s exhortation here is not to be taken lightly!

If it was this strict and of grave importance in the time of the twelve apostles preaching the Kingdom-Gospel to Israel, how much more will it be strict and ultra-important to us, we who have been given a HEAVENLY calling, and not the earthly calling of the Kingdom of God in Israel?

If the believers during the Kingdom-preaching to Israel did not stay in the correct understanding of Scripture…thus falling from their steadfastness (in the faith!) – having distorted and gone against the Word of God – to their own destruction, how much more will we go lost (into destruction: eternal death) who have a greater calling than the Messianic Jews and proselytes under Acts time???

Peter referred to Paul as a faithful apostolic companion here, and not a competitor or one he disagreed with. Paul also agreed that people would GO LOST for salvation, if they did not believe in God, Christ and the Word of God.

The nonsense promoted by the Universalists is contrary to the Word of God. It is a distortion and perversion of the Word, and not just a misinterpretation.

The commission Jesus told His twelve apostles to fulfill, was clearly told them that it was to get Israel to believe on Jesus as their Messiah. If they did not believe, they would NOT be saved, but condemned.

Mark 16:15-16, NASB,

“15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.”

Again we find the two only options presented to those Jesus sent the Gospel: The believers would be saved, the unbelievers would be condemned – which is same as ‘going lost of salvation’.

Paul says just about the same thing in Col. 3:24-25, NASB,

“24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

25 For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality.

The very same two options presented to Paul’s audiences, one gives them the REWARD of salvation, which Paul called ‘inheritance’  (remember Heb. 11:6!!) – but the other was that the wrong-doer (unbeliever) shall receive the consequences  of his wrong-doings, namely to lose his salvation.

In another passage Paul exhorts the believers to STAY FAITHFUL and with STEADFASTNESS (same as Peter wrote!) not going away from their faith…..

Col.1:11-12, NASB,

“11 …strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously

12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.

The inheritance of the saints in Light: the heavenly calling which we, the ‘one new man’ have in the FAITH in Christ. Without faith, there would have been NO INHERITANCE. This inheritance is God’s reward to us believers in Christ, and was already mentioned in Heb. 11:6  …that God is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Eph. 4:17-24, NASB, is a real Universalism killer,

“17 So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,

18 being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;

19 and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.

20 But you did not learn Christ in this way,

21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,

22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,

23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

How so?

Because there are several elements going along with our FAITH IN CHRIST. It has a specific spiritual content and high integrity. Something which ONLY A BELIEVER IN CHRIST can be granted by God.

For this I have emphasized the verses 18,19 and 22: Saying the very same as Peter in my references above to 2 Pet. 3:15-18, that we are not to be like the ungodly unbelieving Gentile world. Faith in God has the high demand to make total distance to the ways of the world!

Paul’s exhortation is genuine Christendom, and not some shady religiousness trying to climb the ladder to come up to God. This passage has everything to do with our lives as genuine true believers in Jesus Christ, following our apostle Paul, the prisoner of Christ!

But ‘Universalism’ is contradicting Paul, saying that it is irrelevant whether to believe or not to believe. Since here, Paul tells us what real unbelievers is DOING IN REAL LIFE: They are DARKENED IN THEIR UNDERSTANDING; EXCLUDED FROM THE LIFE OF GOD; such ones that are practicing every kind of impurity with greediness!

What an attestation we have in the Word of God against the lewd and ungodly manners of the world, the unbelievers who, according to the lying Universalism, still will get saved by God for eternity!

You see this foolishness and utter lack of any normal functioning brains?

If someone is EXCLUDED FROM THE LIFE OF GOD, he is indeed unsaved, and lost for eternity. Their life will be over for good. That is the ‘reward’ of all those who in our time refuses to believe on Jesus Christ.

PAUL’S ESSENTIAL DECLARATION ON FAITH

Eph. 2:8-9, NASB, - - I just love this passage,

“8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

«ONE IMAGE SAYS MORE

THAN A THOUSAND WORDS»:

FAKE MIRACLE CAMPAIGNS

EXPOSED BY THEIR OWN SCHEMES!

JAN LILLEBY

I have written several articles, even books, on these infamous faith-healers; people like William Branham, Oral Roberts, T.L. Osborn, Jack Coe, John Lake, and several of our days followers of these early ‘healers’ from the 1950-ies and sixties…Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen, W.V. Grant Jr., and the lot. An endless list of charlatans and frauds what concerns miracle healings and wonders.

As I went on the internet and studied many of the photos taken in some of these campaigns – you know, rows of sick and disabled people sitting up front in their wheel chairs, and those who lay on stretchers – all hoping for a miracle of God, like the miracles we learn from Acts.

If you go on the web site of T.L. Osborn, Osborn.org – you will find the site named Osborn Ministries International. And they have a file of old photos taken in the many crusades he held while alive. Osborn died in 2013.

I chose however, a photo from one of the campaigns with William Branham – showing a typical scenario, where you find two rows of sick people waiting for their ‘miracle’. They lie on their stretchers or sit in their wheel chairs; right up-front below the stage…for all to view. See photo above.

It all looks very neat and tidy, really well organized and controlled…as if actually staged so the photographer’s should easily get their pictures from the best angles and its best possible light-conditions. Just study this image here, and you will start to have your mind and understanding opened, and learn how this all was a ‘staged’ or ‘rigged’ narrative!

  • THE MEETING WAS PRE-ARRANGED, NOT IMPROVISED

What do I mean by that?

I mean that – as opposed to the Bible, like for instance in Acts – the minister, in this example William Branham, performed in a service arranged by a church or congregation, to specifically come and get sick people miraculously healed. You know, “Branham is in town, come and get healed” ….my spontaneous idea of how these things were done back then. And it really was just like that. Go check for yourself. The congregations inviting these ‘Faith healers’, centered the entire campaign on one singular preacher, the ‘miracle man of God’. Whether it was Oral Roberts, William Branham or T.L. Osborn. This is how they do it up to this very day!

But in the Bible, particularly the Book of Acts there exist no such thing. Not one single miracle was done by the Apostles in any ‘pre-arranged’ campaigns. Not one!

They did not work with such worldly methods as Christianity does in our time.

They healed people led by the power of the Holy Spirit. They did not plan and arranged one singular meeting to heal the sick. Not one.

The early apostles kept gathering under the Portico of Solomon, in the temple site, says Acts 5:12. As do Luke 24:52, 53. And they just preached to whoever was coming by.

No particular campaigns like we foolish Christians work in our time. It’s not foolish to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but it is foolish to lie to the people…saying you are apostles and prophets and have the gifts of miracles and healing.

These things cannot be found with anyone other than the apostles of Christ: Peter and the eleven, plus finally the thirteenth one, Paul – nine years later than Acts 2 and Pentecost, in 37 CE. There exist no proof of God passing down these power gifts of the Holy Spirit through history, to new generations of chosen apostles and prophets. It all stopped abruptly after Acts 28:28-31 – eventually at the latest when the Romans burnt the temple and crushed Israel in 70 CE.

To gather believers, the sick ones, and the casual audiences into a place, to come and see sick people get healed, is unknown to Acts. We can already ‘smell a rat’ by this.

All miracles described in Acts were un-prepared what regards the apostles in question. It was given to them spontaneously by the Holy Spirit, then-and-there…as they met sick people on their way, and the sick (and demon possessed) were all completely and divinely healed by God!

Acts 5:12-16, NASB, is an excellent display as to how the Holy Spirit chose to operate in the Lord’s apostles back in the day, entirely spontaneously and right up front with the sick and crippled people begging for God’s help,

“12 At the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were taking place among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon's portico.

13 But none of the rest dared to associate with them; however, the people held them in high esteem.

14 And all the more believers in the Lord, multitudes of men and women, were constantly added to their number,

15 to such an extent that they even carried the sick out into the streets and laid them on cots and pallets, so that when Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on any one of them.

16 Also the people from the cities in the vicinity of Jerusalem were coming together, bringing people who were sick or afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all being healed.

This also gives us a clear clue as to how to understand the character and mindset of the Holy Spirit: He was operating freely, all by His initiative and never by human ideas or wishes.

Paul taught the following on this issue, 1 Cor. 12:11, NASB,

“But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.”

Just as He wills….and WHEN He wills, I add, because that is what we see when reading Acts. It did not happen ‘out of the thin blue air’ – it happened in the moment the Holy Spirit found it right to make a move.

This also meant that none of the apostles could ever ‘tell the Spirit’ when to do something, and what He should do. Peter and Paul could never perform healings just on their own wishes. In other words: that is also why we cannot find any healing miracles performed in any pre-arranged setting in the entire New Testament.

The image used here of an auditorium where William Branham supposedly went to heal these sick people, is already proven to have been a fake set-up. It is entirely contradictory to the Bible in every manner. In this set-up it seem to be man commanding God to meet up at the planned campaign…and not the Spirit to tell the ‘apostle’ to come and heal the sick by His inspiration.

Oh – and by the way: in Acts we cannot find that anyone among the regular members in the assembly could or would perform miracles, inspired so by the Holy Spirit. We only find that He inspired the twelve, plus Stephen and Philip – the two deacons. And later, Paul was given the same.

And we have to watch the foolish hoax of today’s self-made ‘apostles’, as they try to copy the real Holy Spirit…and to ‘heal the sick’. Can it get more foolish than this? Healing the sick, without any genuine apostle of God present…you have got to be kidding me!!

  • PHOTO SHOWS THE SICK UP FRONT, BUT WHERE ARE      THOSE WHO GOT HEALED?

Picking up on verse 16 of Acts 5 above: they were ALL healed…will really get a new meaning when asking this.

Where are all the healed people? Why did not the photographer deliver photos of ALL those who got healed by William Branham?  Why not taking pictures as they ALL were raised up from their stretchers, and wheel chairs? Did he just take that one image, and went out of the auditorium as he found the task completed? Or was it perhaps because he found that only one sick was healed, but all the others remained ill?

My word on this whole thing is …no one got healed in that campaign. There was no genuine apostle of God present in that campaign. In Acts, it took at least one apostle (but they were twelve…) to perform miracles by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit, if still these miracle-gifts were in operation, would not be doing anything unless He could use one of the chosen original apostles of Christ, for instance Peter, or James or John. And of course, Paul later on.

The lack of real close up photos of each miracle taking place, tells its own exposing story: it is because nobody got healed. There was nothing more to photograph.

Likewise the photo here of T.L. Osborn and a selection of crutches: from where did all the crutches come??? Why no photo of the healed users of those crutches???

This is my book cover (in Norwegian) exposing Osborn’s fraud, which I published years ago.

The whole set-up with pre-arrangement, plus photo of a couple rows of sick people, but NO photo of all of these sick getting healed, was a real blunder done by this congregation then. Amateurs and clumsy ignorant fraud makers I would call them. Same frauds then as the ones we find in our time, - they lie but have no brains to cover up their clumsy lies…just as I am pointing to by the use of these photos.

Have you heard of the fake-healer John G. Lake (1870–1935)?

He was a prominent Canadian-American leader in the early Pentecostal movement, widely known as a faith healer and missionary. He is particularly famous for his "Healing Rooms" ministries, which reported over 100,000 healings in Spokane, Washington, in the early 20th century. Talk about pre-arranged set-ups. He had several rooms in the big house, in which he took in sick people and systematically prayed for to get them healed. Lake believed he was a new Elijah and able to rise the dead and cure all illnesses. But you see, the Holy Spirit cannot be put in a box, and follow orders from a confused Pentecostal dreamer and fake-healer. Lake started the Healing Room Ministry in Spokane in 1915 after returning from South Africa. He and his staff claimed to have healed hundred thousands of sick believers, within a space of 6 years. But no photographic proof exists or any attestation from authorized physicians, whatsoever. It all was one huge hoax and fraud. The Holy Spirit made no healings in that ‘healing center’ in Spokane, WA, directed by confused Christians who thought they were apostles and prophets. The Holy Spirit does not EVER support men lying as they portrays themselves as God’s apostles! John G. Lake was actually called “God’s Apostle to Africa”. His followers in our time have set up a web site called Healingrooms.com, and it refers to all of Lake’s heretic teaching from the Bible on miracles and healings. Lake had fallen for the false lies propagated in Azusa Street revival in L.A. 1906-1913, on ‘God having sent a new Pentecost Acts 2’ with tongues and healings and signs.

Proof have been found by researchers/investigators (regarding faith healers in several separate cases) that in auditoriums attached to large hotels, the hotels have a service for their guests as they offer them free use of wheel chairs and walkers, to make their stay as pleasant as possible. Thus they do not have to haul their private chairs around in the hotel’s hallways, elevators and the likes. The hotel has taken care of that.

Fake-healers have thus taken the opportunity this has offered them, to make elderly and obviously weak persons use such free wheel chairs, and rolled them in to the auditorium. Thus regular visitors to the campaigns see all these people sitting in wheel chairs. Thinking they are incapable of walking, eventually lame. They assure themselves that there are no real sick and lame users being rolled in to the auditorium. Smart, but yet very stupid. Thus they lie not just to the audience, but to the Lord. They make swindling their lifestyle, and yet dare call themselves for evangelists or ‘servants of God’ and so forth.

And as the fake-healers have these people up front when ‘praying for the sick’ – they grab hold of them, and help them to stand up from the wheel chair; which they do, since they are fully capable and well enough to walk. The ‘healer’ is careful not to let his victim come to his own words and story, and so he make the audience believe that he raised a lame person from the wheel chair. Praise God, a miracle!!

In the campaign with Branham seen in the photo here above, the fraudulent ways of fake-healers was not yet as advanced as it became later on in history.

They eventually saw the weaknesses by such photos: showing sick people in wheel chairs, but not showing anyone healed. So this method of miracle swindle fell out of use. They were too easy to expose!

  • WHEN THERE IS FOUND ONLY WHEEL CHAIRS AND CRUTCHES – EVENTUALLY LEFT IN THE AUDITORIUMS – WHAT DOES THIS PROVE?

I’ll tell you what: it proves only that someone ‘parked’ these wheel chairs there and left some crutches. It does not prove that these things had been left there by people who had been healed miraculously.

Actually, having photos of all the sick in front near the podium, and from the very same meeting/service having NO PHOTOS OF SICK AS THEY ARE HEALED, testifies to the whole thing as sheer fraud and a false minister operating as an ‘apostle’.

This took place in many ‘Healing Campaigns’ in USA in the 1950-ies, sixties and seventies…and up till this very day (June 2026) continues to go on and on. I have checked on the net. Photos are manipulated from video-shots and ‘doctored’ to try to show a ‘miracle’ happening. But it is all a fake. The poor nation is strewn with all sorts of heretic preachers, teachers and healers who think they are apostles. It’s a Zoo out there…one ministry crazier than the other. Some of this sort of healing- and miracle madness have also managed to contaminate Norwegian preachers and pastors. The Pentecostal movement was established also here, back in the day. They still believe that God sent a new Pentecost in Azusa Street revival in 1906. Many of the Norwegian preachers go to USA as pilgrims, to check out the latest kick’ in the ‘faith-healer’ market, and whom to eventually invite here for healing-campaigns. This has been going on for decades. But yet there are no miracles to be viewed and attested anywhere near these campaigns. Heaven is entirely silent regarding miracles!

John G. Lake died after suffering a serious stroke in 1935. The Canadian-American faith healer passed away on September 16, 1935, at the age of 65. No one in the ‘Healing Room Ministry’ could get him healed, he who boldly (but in total error) claimed to have gotten a hundred thousand sick people healed. Why wouldn’t then God simply heal the prominent ‘apostle’ and have the ‘healer’ continue this ministry yet a decade or two? Here you see a photo of him, sitting in his car which has a huge poster-advertisement on its roof. Saying ‘Miracle healing power’ – and the address for that ‘Healing Room’ house in Spokane, WA.

I know why this was so: God quit the miracle signs, and the latest date for this was 70 CE, as the Roman army on God’s initiative burnt the temple and destroyed Jerusalem.

But it also is likely that this end of miracles and sign gifts were stopped as Paul got refused by the Sanhedrin counsel at Rome, Acts 28:25-31. Paul’s final words to Israel as a nation was, "Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen." (v. 28). This because the Gospel had only been preached to Israel and proselytes in the Acts-era.

Israel fell spiritually from God that day, in spring 60 CE as Paul met with Sanhedrin. But God let them have 10 years margin to regret their wrong actions, all in vain. It went like Jesus prophesied in Mat. 22:7, .…and the king got infuriated and He sent his soldiers and killed those murderers, and burnt their city. Jesus told them in advance of the destruction in 70 CE to come upon them, because they persecuted the king’s servants and killed them. These were the apostles.

WHY DO WE ALWAYS FIND PHOTOS OF

REGULAR SICK PEOPLE IN CAMPAIGNS,

BUT NEVER SEE PHOTOS OF DEMON POSSESSED?

Recently I published an article called “What of Demons in Our Time?” You can find it here in my web site.

I wanted just to tell you that demon possessed people are nowhere to be found in our time! These entities were allowed by God to appear in the days of Jesus and His apostles….so God through such grave incidents could demonstrate His divine power to set people free of these horrors.

After the end of Acts (60-62 CE) there is no demon possession anywhere. God had shut the door for these things entirely when Israel fell from God in Acts 28:25-28, as Paul confronted Sanhedrin in Rome. There was no need of any miracles, healings, tongues, casting out of demons, etcetera – for those signs were given for Israel only. It was the stone-hearted Jews who needed evidence of God’s presence as the apostles ministered to the nation. After they fell away, God no longer allows for demons to appear in possessed people.  Read my article, and you will have a better understanding of these things.

No wonder that Pentecostal Faith-healers cannot step up and do genuine exorcism setting demon possessed free: they are gone…we cannot find any of these demons like we do see in Acts, not even if we used the Hubble Space Telescope looking for them!!

And yet, foolish and uneducated Faith-healers go quoting Mark 16:17, 18

17  "These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues;

18  they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

Knowing that these sign gifts were suspended Post-Acts, as the apostles died in the first century, - the absence of demon-possessed is a sure clue which proves this Bible truth. Had the commission given to the apostles been valid in our time, then we would also see and experience these demon-possessed ones. There is no absence of sick people, so these are used cynically by the lying hordes of Faith-healers – as they make false healing-promises to them, saying that God will heal them, if they support the Faith-healer’s ministry. It has become big business, sorry to say.

C O N C L U S I O N

Miracles, signs, healings, casting out of demons, speaking in tongues and other Holy Spirit manifestations seen in the New Testament, ceased entirely when the apostles died in the first century.

The Azusa Street revival in 1906-1913 in L.A. was not a reprisal of Acts 2 and the Pentecost events, like tongues and signs. The Pentecostal Assemblies of God, fully admits that the miracles, tongues, etcetera – all was absent for about 1870 years, but finally came back as the Azusa revival happened in 1906 and on. This return-of-the-Pentecost is pure human fiction, and no proof found in the New Testament. The absence of the Holy Spirit gifts is a Bible truth. But the ‘return’ of these things is a blatant lie and a fiction.

The audience at Pentecost Acts 2, was the population in Jewry in the Roman provinces, together with the inhabitants of the land, and Gentiles were prohibited to enter the temple site. Acts 2:5 is listing at least 13-14 different nationalities present, all visitors from the Roman provinces due to the Passover and Pentecost celebrations.

Peter addressed only Jewish people present in his speech, and he also did that in Acts 3. Acts 10 proves that Peter (and so also the eleven) had not any fellowship with Gentiles at all. They were considered as unclean, and so Peter proves that Gentiles were not the audiences the twelve were sent to, but Israel only! Peter was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, John 21; tend My lambs, shepherd My sheep, tend My sheep. Jesus bade him…not to go to Gentiles, but to Israel. And so he did!

Christianity – and in particular the fractions of Pentecostals and Charismatics – are totally confused and think that it was the establishing of the Church which took place at Pentecost Acts 2. But it was only the Messianic Israel at Pentecost which was seeing and experiencing the fulfillment of certain prophesies, regarding the coming of Israel’s Messiah King, Jesus Christ.

The church did not emerge before Paul had his revelation of the mystery, mentioned in Eph. 3:1-9. The church was established Post Acts! 63-67 CE.

Only the Messianic believers in Acts-era had been given the miracle-gifts, and the church has none of these.

What we have, is the glorious heavenly calling by the free Grace Gospel of Paul, according to the revelation of the mystery, the dispensation of the Grace of God for us Gentiles.

WHAT OF DEMONS

-- IN OUR TIME? --

JAN LILLEBY

You will not find much of this controversial topic among Christian denominations. Not of any serious outspoken academia. It may come up as a side-theme in sermons and articles every now and then – and it might come up as a hot theme in theological circles, to fuel tough disputes among scholars.

In this article I shall try to deal with it, so that we can get a Biblical overview of this phenomenademon possession, in particular as found in the Gospels and Acts.

Are these demon-personalities operating in our time, like they did in the time of Jesus and His apostles?

WHERE IN BIBLICAL SCRIPTURE CAN WE FIND IT?

I have taken the liberty to use AI-generated listing of where in the New Testament one have references to demon-possessions. As by quote,

Demon possession in the New Testament refers to the belief that individuals could be directly influenced or inhabited by evil spirits. Jesus and his followers frequently cast out these demons through exorcism, a central theme utilized in the gospels to demonstrate the Messiah's authority over spiritual darkness.

The most prominent and widely told accounts of demon possession in the New Testament include:

1. The Gerasene Demoniac

Told in Mark 5:1-20, Matthew 8:28-34, and Luke 8:26-39, this is the most detailed account of an exorcism.

The Symptoms: The possessed man lived among the tombs in the region of the Gerasenes, exhibited superhuman strength (he could not be bound with chains), and would cry out and cut himself with stones.

The Exorcism: When Jesus commanded the spirits to leave, they revealed their name is "Legion" because they are many. They begged Jesus to let them enter a herd of nearby pigs, which he did. The pigs then rushed into the sea and drowned, while the man was found fully restored and sane.

2. The Possessed Boy (or the Epileptic Boy)

Recounted in Mark 9:14-29, Matthew 17:14-21, and Luke 9:37-43, this story involves a father bringing his son to Jesus' disciples, who were unable to heal him.

The Symptoms: The spirit often seized the boy, causing him to convulse, foam at the mouth, grind his teeth, and become rigid. The father noted the spirit frequently threw the boy into fire or water to harm him.

The Exorcism: Jesus rebuked the spirit, causing the boy to cry out and convulse one last time. The boy fell limp—appearing dead to onlookers—but Jesus took his hand, lifted him up, and he was completely healed.

3. The Mute and Blind Men

The New Testament records several instances where demons manifested as physical ailments.

Mute Man (Matthew 9:32-34): A man who was unable to speak due to demonic influence had the demon cast out by Jesus, after which he immediately began speaking.

Blind and Mute Man (Matthew 12:22-30): An individual who was both blind and unable to speak was healed by Jesus, prompting the crowds to marvel. This led to accusations from the Pharisees that Jesus was casting out demons by the power of Beelzebul.

4. Mary Magdalene

The Account (Luke 8:2): Mary Magdalene is noted in the gospels as a dedicated follower of Jesus. The text specifically mentions that she was healed of possession by seven demons.

5. The Slave Girl in Philippi

Recorded in the Book of Acts, Acts 16:16-18:

The Symptoms: A servant girl was possessed by a spirit that enabled her to predict the future (a spirit of divination). This ability made a lot of money for her owners.

The Exorcism: The spirit caused her to follow the Apostle Paul and his companions around, shouting that they were servants of God. Annoyed by this, Paul commanded the spirit in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her, and it left her that very hour.

WHAT ARE THOSE ENTITIES,

AND WHERE DO THEY COME FROM?

Definition. “Demon possession” is a term frequently used to translate the Greek term daimonizomai in the New Testament.

In ancient texts, such as the non-canonical Book of Enoch, demons are explicitly described as the disembodied, restless spirits of the dead Nephilim. Children of the perverted/forbidden intercource between fallen angels and regular women. The children grew up to become huge ‘hybrids’ men of incredible body size. Book of Enoch describes these hybrids as very evil-minded and murderous ‘creatures’ – for which God decided to kill them by sending the flood of Noah. There exist several archeological excavations of skeletons of such huge Nephilim, and images taken. Go on the Internet for your own search if you prefer.

Nephilim – seen in O. T. Scripture (Gen. 6:1-4) – can be listed:

The Nephilim were the giant offspring of "sons of God" (often interpreted as fallen angels) and human women.

When the Nephilim were killed in physical battles and the Great Flood, their bodies perished, but their spiritual essence survived.

Because they were a hybrid of divine and earthly nature, they could not go to the human afterlife or heaven, nor could they rest.

Condemned to wander the earth, these restless spirits are what are known today as demons. Or often translated as ‘Evil spirits’.

Why They Are Restless

Because they once had physical bodies, the spirits of the Nephilim are portrayed as desperate to experience the physical realm again. This ancient belief is why many early texts describe demons as hostile entities that seek to possess living hosts.

Modern Theological Views

While this origin is deeply rooted in ancient Jewish and early Christian traditions, modern mainstream theology is divided:

The Book of Enoch view: Demons are the spirits of the dead giants.

The Fallen Angel view: Many mainline traditions view demons simply as the original fallen angels who rebelled against God alongside Satan, rather than the souls of the dead Nephilim.

My personal view on this is that Enoch’s Book is correct: the hybrid human ‘creatures’ were the offspring from intercourse of fallen angels with human women.

This whole thing – demons, evil spirits - seem to have been avoided  what concerns eventual teaching among Christian fellowships. Neither can we find any specific doctrine of apostolic N. T. authority, including Paul, which put light on these things. Paul however, did touch slightly in on it, in 1 Cor. 12:10, NASB,

and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.”

In apostolic times, there was one special Holy Spirit gift: the discernment/distinguishing of evil spirits, and the casting out of them from possessed people.

But neither Paul nor Peter or any other writer of Scripture do teach on what’s and why’s and how-to’s. This gift of discernment of demons was one out of nine spiritual gifts in Acts time. Like the other eight gifts, it was only operative through the apostles, and never among regular church-members.

In other words, the operation of that power-gift…to cast out demons, was only kept in the smallest of circles, namely the apostles ONLY, plus Stephen and Philip.

Acts 19:13-16, NASB, gives us an example of this strict policy of the Holy Spirit, in that some sons of a Jewish chief priest Sceva, seven in numbers, were overwhelmed and seriously hurt by the demon possessed man as they tried to do exorcism to him,

“13 But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to name over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, "I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches."

14 Seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.

15 And the evil spirit answered and said to them, "I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?"

16 And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

This tells us at least three things worthy of notice: ONE: Only believers in Christ chosen by Him as apostles or co-workers of them, can ever cast out demons. TWO: Demons obviously make the possessed person stronger in body and muscles, and thus capable of even take down seven men. The demon ‘overpowered’ the seven Jewish men. THREE: It seems like demons cannot themselves ‘jump out of a body’ by own will, or pick-and-choose to leave one person for to possess another person. When they are cast out by one who has the Holy Spirit and that special gift of discernment, God’s power grabbed the demon, and threw it back down to where he had come from. It still translates in our minds as mysterious phenomena.

In the case of Jesus and the possessed man in the Gerasene district (mentioned early in this article), the demon in him begged Jesus for PERMISSION to flee into one (or several) of the pigs which were there. And Jesus allowed it, so the flock of pigs threw themselves into the water and drowned. God was the boss in this situation, represented by His Son, Jesus. God has the overruling power over ALL EVIL ENTITIES, whether demons, fallen angels, Nephilim, evil-minded armies (for instance, the Romans), as well as His own goodhearted obedient angels and servants among humankind.

Nobody can just by his own private power or initiative go on for to ‘cast out demons’ in our time.

I shall tell you why.

THE WHOLE DEMON SCENARIO IN N.T.

WAS RIGGED BY GOD FOR A DEMONSTRATION

OF HIS POWER OVER SATAN

What do you mean….rigged???

God allowed for certain demons to appear – including those men or women who was possessed, and in public get cast out, leaving the poor possessed ones FREE of the power of Satan…thus casting glory on Jesus and His Father on high!

It is found precedence in N.T. for the practice of God to let something bad happen to certain people, so to make a scenario in which He let the recovering from such bad incidents become glorifying of God for His immense grace and power. The incident of Lazarus is such an example. Jesus knew he was ill, and yet He deliberately tarried, and did not come to him while he still was alive. He wanted the audience to learn how He was given His Fathers authority over death and disease – thus the glory became evident as He raised Lazarus from the dead!  This is a glorious and marvelous testimony to God and His beloved son Jesus Christ! As it was with Lazarus and Jesus tarrying, so it was also with the poor demon possessed persons described in N.T. They suffered while being possessed, but they GREATLY REJOYCED when the mighty Son of God – Jesus and His apostles sat them free!! Just think of Mary Magdalene…!! You will get tears in your eyes as you realize how greatly Jesus freed her from the evil spirits. Think of Lazarus…coming out of the tomb, alive!! Glory to God and His Son Jesus Christ.

God just set this stage, and it lasted in the very time of Jesus’ earthly ministry until the end of the apostles’ ministries told in Acts, a time span of slightly 34-37 years, 25 – 60-62 CE. The apostles went into ministry in the same year as the crucifixion, 28 CE.

After this time of the apostles, God ‘rigged down’ His entire set-up, leaving no demons allowed to possess any human being again. The miracles gift were entirely suspended due to the falling away of Israel as the nation of God, Acts 28:28. These Holy Spirit gifts were only given to the Jewish apostles of Jesus Christ for demonstration to Israel of the divine ministry of Jesus as the Messiah.

Peter’s testimony of Christ and His power to set people free is very clear, Acts 10:38, NASB,

"You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

And I have already listed above the miracles in which it concerns the horrible thing of demon-possessions seen in N.T. Scripture. Those are what Peter pointed to in his addressing the guests in Cornelius’ house, as well as the other marvelous healing miracles of Jesus in ministry.

If anyone in our time tries to perform with ‘Holy Spirit miracles’ – that person is committing fraud, and thus he must be classified as a liar and a hoax.

DEMONS IN OUR TIMES – WHERE ARE THEY?

There are no demon possessed persons on earth today. However, there are hordes of regular sick people on earth today. But in the lack of, and the absence of miracle healing gifts, we have by God’s mercy gotten a very skilled and refined culture of competent surgeons and doctors to help us get well from infirmities and diseases. God did not leave us to ourselves regarding our personal welfare. He saw to it, that over the centuries we got hold of real efficient medical knowledge and means to make people well. Doctors cannot perform miracles, like that of the apostles. But they can make a whole lot of repairs with human bodies, to help them recover.

I just finished a series of repairs regarding my teeth. I go to a very skilled and professional competent dentist. So, I have a fresh reminder of the facts written above: doctors, dentists, surgeons and diverse specialists are skillful helpers and ‘repair men’ regarding infirmities we might get.

But in the eyes of God and Christ, regarding miracle healings and casting out of demons in our time; no can do!!

WHAT OF THE EVIL POWERS TOLD IN EPH. 6?

I opened this article by pointing out the Greek word which the translators have used for demons or evil spirits, daimonizomai.

When going to Ephesians 6, the chapter which tells of certain evil powers and authorities, Paul did not use that word. He does not point to demons, but to the powers of Satan, the fallen angels. Fallen angels are just angels, and they have a super-natural body type. But demons, they are without any own body, whether earthly or heavenly. Thus demons seek for a body to invade and dominate. But obviously cannot do in our time. God has shut the door for any demon whatsoever to invade any human being on earth after the times of the apostles of Christ.

Therefore it is found – in Eph. 6, exhortation from Paul as to how to make defenses up against those powers, Satan and his hordes of fallen angels – the rulers and evil spiritual entities, Eph. 6:10-20, NASB,

“10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

14 Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,

15 and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;

16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

19 and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,

20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”

I have emphasized the four first verses, because there we have these evil unseen powers, which we have to meet with our defense ‘weapons’ – which Paul describes in the chapter.

DEMONS OR NO DEMONS:  Verse 11 say that it’s all about ‘the schemes of the devil’ – which is to say to us that the devil has attack-plans with which he tries to hurt us.

Verse 12 say firmly that our struggle is not actually coming from humans, but from …the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. In Strong’s Greek Lexicon, the word used is ponéros, no. 4189, and it can mean both ‘forces of wickedness’  AND ‘forces of Iniquity” – but Paul used no words for demons (Greek, daimonizomai).

The wicked fallen angels which is now – as I write this – still out there in the outer space (heavenly places may also mean a physical abode in universe) – it is not the Super-Heaven in which we find Christ sitting at the right hand of God. Fallen angels are not let into that heaven, but they are found in another sphere which we can call for ‘heaven’.

In Rev. 9 we see something new, and this will happen during the Great Tribulation, namely – there will appear physical ‘demon like’ monsters which will scare the shit out of people (pardon my language) – with a look which we cannot really comprehend, and they will cause unbearable pain and fear, it is my impression that these monsters must be of some size – maybe the size of a human,  Rev. 9:3-11, NASB,

“3 Then out of the smoke came locusts upon the earth, and power was given them, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

4 They were told not to hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only  the men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

5 And they were not permitted to kill anyone, but to torment for five months; and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it stings a man.

6 And in those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, and death flees from them.

7 The appearance of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle; and on their heads appeared to be crowns like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men.

8 They had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of lions.

9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, of many horses rushing to battle.

10 They have tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt men for five months.

11 They have as king over them, the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek he has the name Apollyon.

This will happen while the two witnesses in Rev. 11 are on earth, prophesying in Israel. Probably the witnesses will warn the people of Israel so they can seek shelter for these demon like monsters from the outer space (Abyss). They have a fallen angel of Satan ruling over them, called king in verse 11, by the name Abaddon in Hebrew, and Apollyon in Greek. This reminds us of the angelic ruler over Persia who struggled with Gabriel to stop him to come to Daniel, Dan. 10:13.

They seem to be a horrible monstrous hybrid of a man and Lion and  Locust, and have hair like women and wear a crown on their heads. And the scariest weapon: they have large scorpion tails and shall sting men for five months. They are not permitted to kill anyone, but the pain they cause will drive the victims to seek suicide, but they are refused death! They shall sting everyone who has not the Seal of God in their foreheads – which refers to the 144 000 Jewish tribal evangelists in Rev. 7 and 14.

What a hell on earth there will be inside Israel in the Great Tribulation.

So, God will allow for satanic and demonic plagues to punish Israel and force them to call upon Jesus Christ for salvation. But in the days of the apostles, God had seen to it that demon-possessed people was around, so He could demonstrate His divine healing power to the people, and they praised God and Christ for such deliverance! In the Great Tribulation there shall be no healing, but a lot of plagues, pain and fear.

Rev. 12:7-9, NASB, tells of Michael as he, God’s archangel for Israel, grabs Satan and his armies of fallen angels, and CAST THEM DOWN ON EARTH,

“7 And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war,

8 and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven.

9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

Even such a powerful servant of God Almighty, Michael, has struggle with Satan and his forces, thus this encounter in space is called for a war. A war between Satan and Michael, involving their armies. And Michael wins.

Such angelic wars is nothing new in Bible history: Gabriel, the messenger of God who came to Daniel to explain to him visions of prophetic contents, was resisted and fought against by a fallen angel, who presided over Persia, but Michael came to Gabriel’s rescue and won over that fallen angel and his armies. Gabriel then was free to visit Daniel and explain these important Messianic visions, like I told above ( Dan. 10:13).

Gabriel was delayed for 21 days by a demonic entity known as the "prince of the kingdom of Persia". Gabriel was unable to pass until the archangel Michael came to assist him in the fight.

Do we – the church, the ‘One New Man’ in Christ by faith alone, no works, receive any super-natural help and freedom-raids by angelic forces?

I do personally believe that we may receive such help, if God sees fit to grant us this. I have heard of several incidents that cannot be explained rationally as any other thing than ‘Angelic help’. Paul’s words of angels coming for to assist us who shall inherit salvation, may as well be an inter-dispensational doctrine, even valid in this time of the Grace-dispensation. It can seem like that.

My late sister Ruth, she told me of an incident…where she fell down a staircase in her home. She could have been seriously hurt, but as she was about to hit the lower steps…all of a sudden she felt the touch of hands grabbing her waist, and gently let her down as if this was not a fall. The natural forces of gravity were overruled by God’s angel!

But still, Paul urges us to make our own defenses, as he relates his advice to how the Roman soldiers were clad: helmets, breast plates, shields, and battle shoes, etcetera. We are supposed to take on the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the sword of the Spirit, the shield of our faith…in short, taking on the entire armor OF GOD to win over all the attacks of the devil. And please notice: Paul urges us to go into prayer and intersession for the good cause of the Gospel as read in verses 18-19. Without our prayers, the armor of God may not fully work as protection. We never can pray too much!

The armor described by Paul here, is but a defensive action. We are not to go on into ‘Spiritual Warfare’ – like maniacs inside Pentecostal and Charismatic communities have propagated over the years. None of us can ever command the devil what to do and not to do. We can only defy him, as we refuse to let any of his evil suggestions get to us.

But I also do believe that in this war-narrative we may receive needed help from God’s angelic forces to be able to get through without too much damages and wounds, both physically and spiritually!

The Christian believers in our times should not go around taken with anxiety and fear of demons and evil entities to attack them. We should go around in faith and trusting the Lord, and also have stored in our remembrance that He is with us, - and He is against the devil and his evil forces.

PAUL WAS NOT PRESENT

AS A BELIEVER

AT PENTECOST ACTS 2

(ARTICLE HAS 14 PAGES)

JAN LILLEBY

The entire Charismatic Pentecostal movements have always been in full confusion regarding the Bible.

According to that heretic movement – Assemblies of God, and the many variables throughout history – God sent a new ‘Pentecost’ in a revival in Los Angeles 1906-1913. It’s called for ‘The Azusa street Revival’ in Christendom.

Their revival-magazine announced on its front page, Pentecost Has Come – and their false doctrine of God sending back the miracles and signs, as well as the tongues told in Acts 2…after a long pause of 1870 years! Because they willingly admit that the apostolic miracle-signs and tongues have been totally absent for all these years. But ‘whoops!!’ – all of a sudden, out of nowhere, here it pops up at a revival meeting in Los Angeles in 1906. It was not even in Jerusalem, but on the other side of the earth, in typical Gentile land – not in God’s land Israel…as it was the first time as seen in Acts 2.

Pentecost all over again is a rather fantastic lie, based upon men’s fiction and dreaming. It is NOT an interpretation of Scripture - it is a fiction, a fantasy, a fairytale. God has nothing to do with it!

But the lie caught on hordes of followers over the years, as we learn from history.

The lie of a ‘new Pentecost’ resulted in a full confusion regarding the Biblical doctrine of faith for the church.

The movement ‘elegantly’ (or clumsily) jumps over a good number of Biblical facts, to be able to promote their false doctrine, as if it should be a move by God.

A major blunder created the Pentecostal movement: They took learning and inspiration of what God once did at Pentecost, Acts 2 – which was a visitation from God and the Holy Spirit…to Israel, His ancient nation on earth. And He had Peter and the eleven as leadership for the fresh new initiative, to preach and to offer Israel the new Kingdom of God on earth, at the Second Advent of Christ! It was all just for Israel, and Gentiles was not in these plans so far! Gentiles had to wait until God so chose to turn to them and offer them the Grace-Gospel (which He did, after the fall of Israel in Acts 28:25-28). This move of God, of turning to us Gentiles, did not come on the scene before around 62-63 CE as Paul was given the revelation of the Mystery, Eph. 3:1-3. At Pentecost in Acts 2, God moved only for His nation, Israel! The Church had not yet been created.

It seems to me that these believers in the Azusa revival, in their confusion, had forgotten that Paul was not present at Pentecost Acts 2. The ‘Apostle to the Gentiles’ did not come on the Biblical scene before 37 CE, 9 years after the Pentecost in Acts 2.

Paul was not there as God sent the Holy Spirit upon the Jewish disciples!

Paul was not there, before Pentecost, when Jesus told His Jewish disciples to preach the Kingdom-Gospel to ‘all the world, and baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit’, as in Mat. 28.

Paul was not at the ‘Upper Room’ among the 120 believers as tongues of fire came down and sat upon each one of them, neither did he speak in tongues likewise, Acts 2:3; as well as in the same moment there was a loud noise like a violent rushing wind, v. 2.

Pentecostals and Charismatics claims that they needed that ‘New Pentecost’ in Los Angeles 1906, - but Paul, the actual apostle whom Christ sent to us Gentiles, needed it not, that is, even that renowned first ‘Holy Spirit Pentecost’! If Paul – our actual tutor in Scriptures and the apostle God used to tell us Gentiles – had no need of Pentecost to get blessed and sent out by God to spread the Gospel, how come foolish Christians claim that they have to???

Acts 9 and Paul landing in Damascus – shows us clearly that Paul got filled with the Holy Spirit, and he was baptized in water…and he obviously had also gotten the gift of speaking in tongues (he said so himself, in 1 Cor. 14:18), NOT at Pentecost, but as he was together with Ananias and the other disciples at Damascus!

If I had been among these ‘Holy Rollers’ at Azusa revival, I would much rather want to have God send upon me the “Non-Pentecostal Damascus Blessing”, like that of Paul our apostle. Wouldn’t you also?

Acts 9:17, 18, NASB,

“17 So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit."

18 And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was baptized; and he took food and was strengthened.”

Paul had been blinded as he was on the way to Damascus, and Jesus spoke to him….and he was taken care of by Ananias, a leading disciple in town. Paul did not experience any ‘rushing sound of wind’ or tongues of fire coming on him, or speaking immediately in tongues, but in spite of this he was now an apostle of Christ, hand-picked by Him for ministry. Paul needed no ‘Pentecostal experience’ like those in Acts 2.

Obviously, to Paul it seem like he was more than pleased with that, given his written ‘speech’ on how he ministered out here among the Gentiles. You are going to love this AI-generated summing-up on Paul and his hardships…contrasting those who dared question his God-given authority:

“Paul explicitly argued that he suffered more and labored harder than the other apostles, primarily to defend the authenticity of his ministry against "super-apostles" who were challenging his authority. His strongest statements on this are found in 2 Corinthians 11:16–33 and 1 Corinthians 15:10

Key Arguments and Quotes on Suffering

  • "I am more" (2 Corinthians 11:23): When challenged by "super-apostles" in Corinth, Paul reluctantly boasted about his hardships, arguing that his life of suffering was the ultimate credential of a true minister of Christ, saying, "I am talking like a madman—with far greater labors, far more imprisonments, with countless beatings, and often near death".

  •

  • The List of Hardships (2 Corinthians 11:24–27): Paul detailed his sufferings:

    • 5 times received 39 lashes from the Jews.

    • 3 times beaten with rods.

    • 1 time stoned and left for dead.

    • 3 times shipwrecked.

    • Frequent danger from rivers, robbers, false believers, Jews, and Gentiles.

    • Constant hunger, thirst, nakedness, and exposure to cold.

  • Daily Pressure (2 Corinthians 11:28-29): Beyond physical torture, Paul noted the psychological weight of his "concern for all the churches".

  • "I die every day" (1 Corinthians 15:31): Paul indicated he was in constant danger, treating his life as a daily sacrifice for the Gospel.

Why Paul Claimed Greater Suffering

  • To Prove Authenticity: Paul used his suffering to combat false teachers who were charismatic but lacked true sacrifice. He argued that a true servant of Christ follows the path of the "suffering servant" (Jesus).

  • Laboring More Abundantly (1 Corinthians 15:10): "I labored more abundantly than they all," Paul wrote, while quickly giving credit to "the grace of God which was with me".

  • His Past as a Persecutor: Paul felt he needed to justify his place as an apostle because he previously persecuted the church, saying, "I am the least of the apostles... because I persecuted the church of God".

Contextual Notes

  • "Light Affliction": Paradoxically, in 2 Corinthians 4:17, Paul calls these immense, life-threatening sufferings "light affliction" compared to the "eternal weight of glory" that was to come.

  • Boasting in Weakness: Paul concluded that his suffering was actually his strength because it forced him to rely on God's grace, allowing him to say, "When I am weak, then I am strong" (2 Cor 12:10)”

So as a believer in Christ, you either have to put up or shut up! …in regard to the immense importance of Paul as our ONLY apostle to us Gentiles!

PENTECOST ACTS 2 WAS FOR JEWS ONLY,

AND NOT FOR US ‘ETHNOS’ - GENTILES

This which took place in Jerusalem Acts 2 – logistically speaking – would demand that …given the idea of a ‘new’ Pentecost in 1906…the audiences present would have been just like the ones seen in Acts 2, at Jerusalem, namely …quote:

“… Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven. Acts 2:5.

These nations are listed, according to their languages, verse 9-11,

"Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,

10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya around Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,

11 Cretans and Arabs -we hear them in our own tongues speaking of the mighty deeds of God."

They were not Gentiles!  They were Jews experiencing some of the prophets’ words being fulfilled among them. Peter referred to Joel, and he referred to David in Acts 3. The event at Pentecost was according to the Law of Moses celebrating Pentecost as the following Holy Feast 50 days after Passover. Gentiles were not at all into this equation. Pentecost in Acts 2 was not part of any effort of God trying to reach out to Gentiles!!

Peter’s known two speeches in Acts 2 and Acts 3, gives us his typical addressing opening words: Using AI-generated info summing-up,

In Acts 2 and Acts 3, Peter addresses specifically Jewish audiences in Jerusalem, identifying them as fellow Israelites, men of Judea, and residents of Jerusalem. The speeches serve as a public proclamation that Jesus of Nazareth, whom they had recently crucified, is the promised Messiah.

Acts 2: Pentecost Sermon

  • Audience: Peter speaks to a devout, multi-national crowd of Jews visiting Jerusalem for the Feast of Pentecost, as well as local Judeans.

  • Key Themes:

    • Defense: He explains that the speaking in tongues is the fulfillment of the prophecy of Joel 2:28-32, not drunkenness.

    • Indictment & Exaltation: He accuses them of killing Jesus, but states God raised Him from the dead.

    • Call to Action: He tells them that God made this Jesus "both Lord and Messiah".

    • Result: The crowd is "cut to the heart," and 3,000 are baptized after Peter calls them to repentance.

Acts 3: Sermon at Solomon's Colonnade

  • Audience: A crowd of "fellow Israelites" gathered in the Temple area after witnessing Peter and John heal a man crippled from birth.

  • Key Themes:

    • Deflection of Power: Peter immediately denies that the healing was done by his own power, attributing it to Jesus.

    • Accusation & Mercy: He boldly tells them they disowned the "Holy and Righteous One" and asked for a murderer to be released instead.

    • Call to Repentance: Peter argues they acted in ignorance and calls on them to repent so that "times of refreshing" may come.

    • Covenant Focus: He reminds them that they are heirs of the covenant God made with Abraham.

Key Commonalities

  • Exclusively Jewish: Both sermons are directed only to a Jewish audience.

  • The Murder and Resurrection: Peter highlights the contrast between their rejection of Jesus and God’s exaltation of Him.

  • Call to Repentance: Both end with a plea for the crowd to change their minds about Jesus and turn to God.

  • Prophetic Fulfillment: Both argue that Jesus’s death and resurrection were the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy.”

The twelve apostles were present at Pentecost, and they were sent to Israel only!  John 21 tells of the Lord charging Peter and the others…to go tending to the LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL. Which is like a continuation His ministry when he first came to Israel (Mat. 15:24). Peter was entirely ‘flabbergasted’ – 9 years after Pentecost, of being told by Christ in a vision that he should go to Gentiles at Caesarea. He objected in disbelief when the Lord gave Peter a vision as he was with Simon the tanner at Joppa; and argued with the Lord, Acts 10:10-16, NASB,

“10 But he became hungry and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance;

11 and he saw the sky opened up, and an object like a great sheet coming down, lowered by four corners to the ground,

12 and there were in it all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air.

13 A voice came to him, "Get up, Peter, kill and eat!"

14 But Peter said, "By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean."

15 Again a voice came to him a second time, "What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy."

16 This happened three times, and immediately the object was taken up into the sky.”

There can be no doubt that Peter NEVER was told to go to any Gentile people earlier. The Great Commission, in Mat. 28 are translated in error. The stiff-necked translation committees don’t seem to understand this Biblical truth. Peter and the eleven other apostles knew very well that they all had been appointed by Jesus to go to Israel only!  Not into ‘all the world’!

The incident with Cornelius and his friends at Caesarea, wanting to hear the Kingdom-Gospel preached by Peter, was a ‘one off’ – and was not repeated in Acts. Acts 11 tells of them going to Jews ONLY (Acts 11:19).

Peter did not change his ministry, to go to Gentiles on a regular basis. It was Israel only. He thus was the apostle to the CIRCUMSCISION, Gal. 2:7, 8.

Peter addressed his epistle to Jews in the dispersion…those who lived,

“…throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen.” (1 Pet. 1:1). But Peter has no Biblical testimony to have been at those Provinces.

Just as Paul, writing to the Romans, - but himself never having been there in person when he wrote it! That came later on, after he first had visited Jerusalem in 58 CE. He wrote the epistle when he stayed at Ephesus 56-57 CE.

In Acts 12, which was in 44 CE, 16 years since Acts 2, we still find Peter present inside Israel’s land! None of the other apostles is reported as going to Gentiles. Luke would never have missed out on it if this was a fact. In Luke 24:52, 53 - we find him placing the apostles geographically, at Jerusalem and the temple,

“52 And they, after worshiping Him, returned to Jerusalem with great joy,

53 and were continually  in the temple praising God.”

Christianity think that the apostles went all abroad in mission, but the Bible itself says otherwise: They were constantly/continually in the temple. In Acts 5 it says of them likewise:  and they were all with one accord in Solomon's portico.

THE PECULIAR TIME FACTOR

MUST BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION

It had become 44 CE as we find Peter at Passover in Jerusalem, Acts 12, getting arrested by the evil Herod Agrippa I, and holding this fact up against the error found in Christianity – that of Peter and the twelve being sent out into World-Wide mission, makes us have to revise this entire false narrative. After full 16 years, Peter was still not found outside of Israel in mission – neither were any of the eleven co-apostles.  Why???

Compare this to when Paul and Barnabas was told by the Holy Spirit to travel abroad into mission, Acts 13:2-4, NASB,

“2 While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

3 Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia and from there they sailed to Cyprus.”

Hey, what do we see here!!

After a few days perhaps: the two – Paul and Barnabas, together with John Mark, entered a ship and immediately left Israel, setting course for Cyprus! No 16 years of tarrying in Israel…like it was with Peter! This pointing out of the time-factor is a move of detection on my part: it brings to light the very Bible truth of how it really was with Peter and the twelve, compared to Paul and his helpers.

The foolish idea found within the ‘Christian Religion’ of Peter and the twelve going abroad in mission, falls apart entirely. There exists no Biblical testimony of such ministry for the twelve. All we are served is a lot of extra-biblical free fictional fantasy…you know, Peter going to Rome, Thomas going to India, and what not; Catholic-related lying fairytales and false legends. The legend that Peter was buried at the St. Peter’s Cathedral, Rome, cracked up – because there is evidence from medieval times of Pilgrims visiting another place at Rome, to pay homage to Peter! I have clipped in from an article by Professor Nicola Denzey Lewis, Brown University, quote:

“This is another fascinating thing we explore in Finding Jesus. Most people know about Peter’s traditional burial site at St. Peter’s. But it turns out that there’s a second site in Rome where pilgrims went for hundreds of years, which was known as the Memoria Apostolorum (the Memorial to the Apostles). It’s off the Via Appia at the modern site of the Catacombs of San Sebastiano, and you can still go and visit it today, although the memorial itself is largely built over.

What’s amazing is that the site preserves around 600 graffiti scrawled by Christian pilgrims in the early Middle Ages, most of them prayers to Peter and Paul, the joint patron saints of Rome. It certainly looks like people believed that Peter was buried there, but excavators found no evidence of a tomb there, either.”

So, how can this legend ‘hold water’ – Peter was ‘buried’ at two tomb sites?? The Papal official statement on Peter is that …it might be… his bones which were found by archeologists. This is typical of humanly born legends: It might be….

In the Bible Canon no such tomb site is found or reported of by Luke, or anyone at all. I prefer to believe what the Bible says. All other writings have to give way to the Bible when discussions arise.

Luke told of Paul and Barnabas leaving by ship for Cyprus, sent by the Holy Spirit to preach the Kingdom-Gospel in the Jewish Synagogues; it would be just as simple and uncomplicated for Luke to tell – by details – of Peter and the eleven leaving Israel for ministry abroad! But you see, Luke was a smart Christian believer and a learned physician and writer, so he went to follow the real apostle to us Gentiles, Paul, on his journeys. He knew that Peter would NEVER LEAVE THE LAND, which would have been a very dull and repetitive history-telling should he stayed with Peter in ministry! Luke deemed it sufficient to write of Peter this story which we now can read in Acts. The final chapter, where Peter is mentioned, is Ch. 15, regarding him meeting with the others at Jerusalem to decide what to tell the proselytes in relation to observing the Law. This was in 49 CE, full 21 years since Acts 2 and Pentecost! And that’s it. We never find anything more of Peter in Biblical history-writings. To Luke it was ‘Goodbye Peter, hello Paul!’

Some of the so-called Church Fathers mentioned Peter as one who went abroad…but we cannot ever trust these believers, after the passing of the thirteen apostles. They are infamously known as heretical concerning doctrine of faith (they believed in works for salvation!) – so we cannot put trust in any of their writings. (See my separate article on Didache writings, an anonymous writing in Koine Greek language).

There can exist no doubts as to whether Jesus told Peter and the eleven to go preaching IMMEDIATELY, after He asked them to first wait for the ‘power’ (Holy Spirit) Who should be coming upon them in Jerusalem. The ascension of Jesus took place ten days before Pentecost, which in 28 CE was Sunday 20 June. So, if Peter and his co-apostles kept staying in Israel, for 21 years, we must conclude that they were very disobedient to the calling given them by the Lord. To stay in Israel, is not to go out ‘into all the world’ as Jesus said in Mat. 28. Jesus told them to go ‘into ALL the land, Israel’.

Peter’s visit to Antioch told in Gal. 2:11-14, does not attest to any ministry of him now going out into ‘all the world’. Peter’s presence there was a ‘One off’. He still had no clear understanding of Gentiles as fellow heirs in Christ…they were still considered as just proselytes! Scholars place Peter at Antioch in 44-48 CE. The same time-schedule fitting in with the persecution told in Acts 12, when he escaped Jerusalem helped by an angel of God (Acts 12:5-17). It only says that Peter ‘went to another place’…so Luke did not name that place. Paul reprimanded Peter for not being straight in his eventual ‘fellowship’ with Gentiles…since he took distance to them when some Jewish brethren came visiting. Even Barnabas (!) was falling in with Peter’s hypocrisy, the very word used by Paul in his reprimand. Peter went to Antioch purely to seek refuge. Not for to minister according to the ‘Great Commission’, Mat.28. Notice: Luke did not mention Peter eventually performing healings and such, at Antioch. He mentioned him only in regard to having fellowship with church members, including Gentiles.

The Bible is correctly proving to us that Peter stayed inside Israel for a full 21 years, …the visit to Antioch was only a small parenthesis; at the same instance that we cannot find anywhere, any Biblical writing proving he went abroad in mission. If this does not make you hear bells ringing…hey, then you better go see a phycologist or some other specialist, to help you get relieved from your denial-neurosis and paranoia attacks. You have to learn to accept Biblical written proof/testimony – as well as the lack of it!

PENTECOST IN ACTS 2 COULD NOT EVER

BE REPEATED, BECAUSE THE LAW OF MOSES

WAS ABOLISHED!

According to Eph. 2:14, 15, the Law of Moses was abolished by Christ at the cross (however, it was kept secret in Acts time, since Jesus tested Israel for faith) – but revealed to Paul Post-Acts as he wrote Ephesians/Colossians in 63-67 CE. Acts ended in 62 CE.

Pentecost was therefore abolished…since the Law was abolished, which had originally ordained Israel for such Holy Feast Day celebration.

It might so be that because of Christendom’s establishing of a quasi-Pentecost, imitating the original one from the Law of Moses, this result in Christians forgetting that the original Pentecost, Passover, Feast of Trumpets, Sabbath – it all was abolished during apostolic times. Col. 2:13-17 tells us so, as well as Eph. 2:14, 15. But even so, this is not an accepted excuse for forgetting this important action taken by God. He actually and really abolished the Law of Moses, and it will never again become operative. See Col. 2 below:

Col. 2:16, 17, NASB,

“16 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-

17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.”

It is impossible that God eventually should have sent a ‘New Pentecost’ in Los Angeles, 1906. Pentecost was abolished back in the time of the apostles!!

It is a sheer scandal that the Pentecostal movement just keeps carrying on, as if nothing has happened with God’s system of dispensations (administrations) in history, after the cross. When God opened a new dispensation (Greek, oikonomia) or administration, he used Paul as we learn from Eph. 3:1-3, - and told him by His revelation of the Mystery,

“1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles -

2 if indeed you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace which was given to me for you;

3 that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief.”

A repetition or a reprisal of the events seen at Pentecost in Acts 2 is thus proven by the Bible canon to be an entirely impossible thing.

God has by no means repeated what He once had abolished! No parts of the Law of Moses are in operation in our time. Even Sabbath has been taken off the roster! Pentecost is now just an old Mosaic ordinance which made the Jews come together at Jerusalem, 50 days after Passover. And it will never again be made an ordinance for Israel to observe. Not ever! As Paul says in Col. 2, it was part of God’s prophetic foreshadowing of things to come…Christ, the Messiah-King for Israel.

But now, since He has come, these things from the Law are no longer in need. Pentecost, and of course Passover, and all other feast days are no longer in operation. The real thing has come: Messiah had come to Israel…but went to heaven and had His apostles proclaim the Gospel in His absence.

The entire book of Acts is a historic report of Israel as it fell away from God, refusing to nationally receive Jesus as their Messiah. And in 70 CE, Rome crushed the nation and scattered them in the world.

THE CHURCH DISPENSATION CAME ON,

THE SAME INSTANCE PAUL HAD GOTTEN

THE REVELATION   OF THE LAW ABOLISHED.

But we see clearly in Acts time that the Messianic believers, Jews and proselytes, observed the Law. Paul went to the Synagogues and told the Jews of Jesus as the Messiah. He preached the same Kingdom-Gospel as the twelve, only it was outside of the land. This was ended in spring 60 CE, as Paul confronted the Sanhedrin at Rome – and they refused to believe on Jesus (just a few of them did) – so that God’s conclusion was told them by Paul: …from now on this salvation (the Gospel) has been sent to the Gentiles, and they shall also listen (receive it), Acts 28:28.

Due to the fact I mentioned, of Christ keeping it secret that the Law was abolished at the cross, the believers in Acts time observed the Law. Jesus tested them to see if the nation would repent and believe on Him. Well, they did not, - but we see that Paul went to Jerusalem hoping to arrive for the Pentecost celebration, Acts 20:16,

“For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus so that he would not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be in Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost.”

You see, there was a Pentecost every year in Israel…not just the one reported in Acts 2!

When Paul arrived at Jerusalem he met with the leaders. And James told Paul of the thousands of believers as such ones who all were zealous for the Law! This was in 58 CE, thirty years after Pentecost in Acts 2. Acts 21:20,

“And when they heard it they began glorifying God; and they said to him, "You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law;”

This is an attestation to the Bible truth:  it is NOT the church we see in Acts time; it was the Jewish Messianic assembly expecting Jesus to return from heaven at any moment, provided Israel first repented.

The church dispensation was established by Paul as he had revealed to him that Christ abolished the Law of Moses at the cross, making Jew and Gentile into ‘one new man’ by faith. The wall of partition was thus torn down…since it was the Law which was that ‘partition’.

Before this happened, it was impossible that the church, the ‘one new man’ existed. It was created by Christ as He abolished the Law. But in Acts we see that they observed the Law as if it still was in operation…and it was, since Christ kept it a secret that is was abolished.

Shame on you, Pentecostals, and Charismatics…and what not; when shall you ever come to a full recognition of the actual Biblical truth of things? You have to make right division of the Bible, to get to a correct understanding of these matters.

The Acts period or era, ended at Paul’s visit in Rome 60-62 CE. And the church era started shortly thereafter, as we find Paul writing Ephesians and Colossians 63-67 CE, the two only epistles for the church dispensation. In both of these, he told of the Law abolished, plus the Mystery revealed….that we Gentiles by faith are co-heirs with Christ for the heavenly blessings (up in epiouranios heaven, from Greek).

NOT ONLY THE ABOLISHING OF THE LAW, BUT

ALSO THE FACT THAT MIRACLES, SIGNS, TONGUES,

ALL WERE GIVEN TO THE APOSTLES ONLY

It is displayed straight forward to us all, as we read Acts’ report of the apostles of Christ. The signs, miracles, wonders, baptisms and other things were glued to these apostles. The only two exceptions were Philip and Stephen who had been laid hands upon by the apostles, for ministry.

Acts 5:12 is archetypical of that,

“At the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were taking place among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon's portico.”

We cannot find any other than the apostles, plus Philip and Stephen, who performed these MANY signs and wonders…among the people. These things were NOT entrusted to the common church members. There exist NO PRIVATE MIRACLES in the Acts report of Luke! Ananias who helped Paul when he arrived blinded in Damascus, Acts 9, was obviously chosen by the Lord Himself, to care for Paul – just like we read. He laid hands on Paul, and he got his eye-sight back, and he was filled with the Holy Spirit. I quoted that passage earlier, above. Ananias may be put in same class as Philip and Stephen, - as a competent Spirit-filled believer chosen by Christ for this special task seen.

The reason is simply because they were the ONLY ones (the apostles) to possess such powers regularly. Plus later on, we find Paul became one who worked as an apostle with signs and wonders.

It ended with these hand-picked servants of Christ, and there were never any other new apostles following down through history doing the same as these 13 apostles.

Additionally to miracles and signs, it was only the apostles who could perform BAPTISM of converts. Jesus never authorized any regular church member to do such ministry practices.

It is a huge scandal and one BIG mess in Christendom that the many denominations worldwide, on their own private ‘authorization’ take the liberty to perform water baptisms! Only the thirteen apostles could lawfully do that, plus Philip the evangelist, as well as the mentioned Ananias who cared for Paul at Damascus. According to Eph. 4:5 there is but ONE baptism: the baptism into the death of Christ, by faith, made without hands – thus a baptism performed by God…without water. See Col. 2:11-13,

“11 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ;

12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,”

Paul likened this baptism into the death of Christ, with being circumcised without hands (done by God).

The lying scandalous and messed up ‘Azusa Street Revival’ in 1906 had none of the signs seen in Acts 2, as the Pentecost was celebrated. The main preacher at that time was Charles Fox Parham – and it is documented that he, observing all the spiritual confusion and lunacy taking place at Azusa Street revival, he quit. He could not bear with all that soulish carnal madness he saw close up. He hired another place outside of down town, and started a series of meetings. He warned his audience of that Azusa-revival. But to no avail.

There were no ‘tongues of fire’, no rushing noisy wind blowing, no speaking in genuine tongues, no healings, no genuine apostles present, no nothing. The whole Pentecostal dreaming is but just a vile messed up part of the ‘Christian Religion’ – they are void of correct Bible understanding, and they go to their pulpits every week – lying about God and Christ, telling their congregations that Jesus is healing the sick miraculously today, He baptizes them in the Holy Spirit and give them tongues to speak, and so on and so forth. It is all a scam and a hoax. No proofs of genuine miracles are to be seen; and no genuine documentation from physicians attesting to the miracles.

I can only suggest to the reader, to get far away from this hoax, and to allow for a correct rightly division of the Bible.

The church dispensation started after Acts, as we find Paul’s epistle to the Ephesians and shortly followed by Colossians, in 63-67 CE.

EXAMPLE OF PRESENT TIME PENTECOSTAL

CHARISMATIC ‘CELEBRITIES’ AND HOW

THIS FRACTION OF CHRISTENDOM HAS

PRODUCED FAKE TV-HEALERS AND WHAT NOT

Especially in the USA, the title ‘Televangelist’ and ‘Faith Healer’ have become common bywords…close to pure cursing and swearing. And it is easy to understand why: such ministries are without exceptions entirely false. It is ‘miraculous’ only in name, and never in real life. They present their ministries as if they are infallible and on the same ethical and doctrinal level as the apostles of Christ shown in Acts.

In many instances we find that the sons or wives or other near relatives inherit their father, or their husband, and the likes.

This, by itself, does not have to be a bad thing. But the badness pops up if we find that the heirs carry on with the very same falsehood and fake-healings as their predecessors! Joel Osteen inherited his father John Osteen’s ministry, and he carry on with his father’s heretical preaching, in Houston, Texas. Kenneth Hagin Jr. carries on his father’s ministry, Kenneth Hagin Sr., Tulsa, Oklahoma – pastoring the Rhema Bible Church. Same with Richard Roberts, carrying on with his father’s ministry…Oral Roberts. It goes on and on…

This is what I choose to have a look at – and I will use the late W. V. Grant Jr. and his Eagle’s Nest Cathedral, Dallas, Texas, as a general example. I have a substantial article here in my web site, which you may already have read. He was a fake televangelist/healer, and he was even sentenced to time in federal jail for tax evasion, 16 months.

Even if it is a fact that Grant Jr. passed away in July 2020, that article will be found in my site. Just as I let my articles on Azusa-revival and all those heretical movements be found on my site. These are meant to warn you all – and make you avoid this great mistake of believing that miracles, signs, real apostles and the lot are genuine ministries and works of God in our time. Don’t be deceived! It is unfortunately doubtful if any of these ministries will ever change for the better. The leaders are usually so stone-hearted and foolishly stubborn, that one cannot expect anything positive from them. But the church-members often have a more open mind to whether what they hear from pulpits is true. Maybe some of these often gullible ‘followers’ can come to their senses and shun away from false ‘miracle’ promises and the lot. I would hope they do.

Photo above: Advertisement for a campaign at this church, Grant Jr. and Milly, his wife seen. An evangelist, Tracy Cooke, to come preaching. Notice the headlines, saying…Word of Knowledge in Action, Signs, Miracles and Wonders, W.V. and Milly Grant presents…

Tracy Cooke: He has his own web site…in which he portrays himself as a prophet and a miracle-worker….in other words, a typical falsehood like all other fake-healers you may find in the USA and other places in the world today. If you think I am exaggerating, please check his web site!! www.cookerevivals.org  - big bragging of miracles, small or zero understanding of the Word of God!

Oh, by the way – as I am writing this article (Monday 25 May, 2026), Mr. Cooke is performing right here in my homeland Norway, and his ‘revival meetings’ are being broadcasted in real-time over the TV-channel  “TV Vision Norge” – the programs are sending from a local Farm Ranch near Drammen city, owned by the leader of the TV-channel, Jan Hanvold. I once worked for him five years  1996 – 2001, but that was when I still had not fully gotten into Acts-28 beliefs. I was a Pentecostal at that time, and also much influenced by the Word of Faith movement. I have watched several direct sent ‘Miracle meetings’ on that TV-channel…and the result is the same every time: There are no miracles happening whatsoever!  The people prayed for, due to severe sickness, go back – or ‘hump’ back to their respective seats…just as ill as ever. The freak-shows just go on and on….you wouldn’t find a single genuine miracle if you had used the Hubble Space Telescope looking for it!!

Regarding the Eagle’s Nest Cathedral and Grant Jr. – an infamous TV-healer and gospel singer – this organization is now headed by his widow, Dr. Milly Grant. Below I have clipped in an AI-generated concentrated info on the ‘ministry’ of the Grant family, quote,

“Televangelist and faith healer W.V. Grant Jr. passed away in July 2020, leaving the ministry in the hands of his wife, Dr. Milly Grant.

Eagle's Nest Cathedral remains active in the Dallas, Texas area, hosting weekly worship and miracle revival services.

Overview: The Ministry

  • Current Leadership: Led by his wife, Dr. Milly Grant, and often features guest pastors.

  • Location: Eagle's Nest Cathedral is located at 1440 Regal Row (Suite 200), Dallas, TX 75247.

  • Services: The ministry continues to host weekly and weekend services, often referred to as miracle revivals or deliverance ministries.

Historical Background

  • In the 1980s and 1990s, W.V. Grant Jr. was a prominent televangelist, drawing massive crowds with his healing and prosperity teachings.

  • In 1996, he was convicted of tax evasion and sentenced to 16 months in federal prison.

  • After his release in 1997, he restarted his ministry, relocating his church to downtown Dallas.”

As it says in the quote above, Milly Grant, the widow of W.V. Grant Jr. continues to host weekly services…referred to as miracle revivals or deliverance ministries, (as seen in the photo above).

The kind of ministry displayed here with the example of Eagle’s Nest Cathedral, is strewn around by the hundreds in the entire USA…often represented by many ‘Mega Churches’ – of which Joel Osteen in Houston may be the biggest….??

There are two central ‘holy grail’ entities with fake miracle ministries, the first: It’s all about THE MONEY. It has been said, ‘When the Gospel came to Europe, it was turned into a religion. But when it came to the USA, it became a BUSINESS!’ Secondly, their personal delusional beliefs in themselves as ‘apostles’ of Christ – thus they cannot be touched or questioned. You see, they are elevated above ALL THE OTHER  CHRISTIANS and thus infallible! They are usually immune to any forms of corrections or reprimands. They have their own minds as their ‘god’. I am sure that my exhortations here in my web, makes them angry…but I have to live with that. Nobody likes to get corrected. Corrections are of the devil you see, for they are elevated above all such ‘attacks’. They have allowed themselves to become entirely swallowed up by he who Jesus named…the father of lies…namely Satan.

Paul met those kind of falsehoods when he was preaching to Jews and proselytes in Acts time, 2 Cor. 11:13-15, “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light" – From NASB,

“13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.

14 No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.”

We must be aware of the fact that Paul’s warnings were not empty words..blowing-in-the-wind…No, he was saying that people promoting themselves as ‘apostles’ were automatically false liars and messengers of Satan! There were NO OTHER APOSTLES found, since Paul was hand-picked by Jesus Christ, Acts 9. He knew that if other than the twelve, plus himself, called themselves for an apostle, they were liars.

Paul did not warn against one or several of the twelve apostles…someone eventually going rough. He warned against self-appointed lying false apostles, who had not been chosen by God for such ministry.

Nevertheless, I shall still give my personal advice to – in this case – Dr. Milly Grant: you would gain greatly from quitting your entire ‘miracle-preaching’ or miracle meetings…for this was entirely ended as the apostles died in the first century. No apostles have been chosen and sent by God since that time. Paul was the only apostle sent to the Gentiles. Don’t quit your faith in Jesus for salvation; it is by faith alone that we are saved; it is the gift of God (Eph. 2:8, 9).

The same advice I give to ALL who think they are ‘God’s finest’ and personally hand-picked by Him for ministry. Have faith in Jesus Christ, but let go of all false ‘miracle’ preaching. God quit that when Israel fell from Him in Acts 28:28. We have to cling to Paul’s church epistles, Ephesians and Colossians regarding Doctrine of Faith.

My web site is full of Pauline Gospel teaching, and how to rightly divide the Word of God. My articles can help you getting a better understanding of the Gospel of Grace according to Paul’s revelation of the Mystery (Eph. 3:1-3).

EPHESIANS  3

PAUL’S REVELATION OF THE MYSTERY

JAN LILLEBY

Eph. 3:1-3, NASB,

“1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles -

2 if indeed you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace which was given to me for you;

3 that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief.

What Paul refers to here, is a secret hidden from all the rest of mankind, but in due time revealed to one single person on earth: Paul, the apostle.

He also points to us Gentiles as the original sole recipients (!) ..verse 1, ..the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles.

Paul thus was the sole apostle God sent out to us Gentiles. He never sent Peter and the eleven. Read Paul’s explanation on what Peter was sent for, or rather…to whom he and the eleven was sent, as in Acts 13:31, NASB,

“…and for many days He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very ones who are now His witnesses to the people.”

It is no doubt that it tells of the twelve apostles SENT OUT INTO THE LAND OF ISRAEL. The JEWISH people, not Gentiles. The entire Book of Acts proves that this was so. Peter is found  to have stayed inside the land for full 21 years, only interrupted by his flight to Antioch in 44-48 CE to avoid jailing or death, or both. Acts 12:17 says that Peter fled …to another place…not saying were to. His visit there may have been for nearly two years…and he was no doubt very uncomfortable: he fell into hypocrisy regarding fellowship with Gentiles, Gal. 2:11-14. He pops up again in Acts 15, at the meeting at Jerusalem in 49 CE, which adds up to a total of 21 years proving Peter’s presence inside Israel He never went on world-wide mission. That theory is made up by the early Catholic church.

PAUL’S DECLARATION OF THE MYSTERY

AND THE NEW GRACE DISPENSATION

Eph. 3:4-9, NASB,

“4 By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,

5 which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit;

6 to be specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel,

7 of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of God's grace which was given to me according to the working of His power.

8 To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ,

9 and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things;”

This ‘now’ in verse 5 points to the very moment that Paul wrote this epistle, from his jail cell in Carcere Mamertino, Rome, 63-67 CE.

The revelation given him by God was all fresh when he wrote the letter.

Times prior to this moment, was times in which no man on earth ever knew anything of a future dispensation (Greek, oikonomia) called the Grace of God, or as quoted – stewardship of God’s grace.

Therefore we can be one hundred percent certain that this stewardship/dispensation/administration is not to be seen in the four Gospels or Acts, or in any writings during the Acts time line.

It only came to light Post Acts, through the apostle of Christ, Paul.

We cannot find that Jesus spoke to His disciples of this Grace-dispensation, and likewise, we are not seeing this throughout Acts either.

THE GRACE DISPENSATION IS TO BE

HERALDED BOTH IN THE HEAVENS AND ON EARTH

THROUGH THE CHURCH

Eph. 3:10-13, NASB,

10 so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.

11 This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord,

12 in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.

13 Therefore I ask you not to lose heart at my tribulations on your behalf, for they are your glory.

In verse 9 we read that the church has the mission of ..bringing to light what is the administration (dispensation) of the MYSTERY…here on earth, meaning world-wide preaching.

But in verse 10 we are surprised to learn that this ‘heralding’ by us believers continues up there! God wants us to go preaching/heralding the Grace Gospel of Paul in these future heavenly places. Folks: we have a mighty interesting job waiting for us up there. We are to make known the Grace to the rulers and authorities (the multitude of angelic ministers) IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES. Undoubtedly these mighty angelic servants of God will ask: what are those multitudes of human beings doing up here? And God will let us do some real heavenly ministry…explaining these things to the angels, for their education. And guess who will be doing the very same amongst us? Paul – of course, the chief apostle of the Grace-dispensation. I am certain that you all will prefer to be along with Paul in ministry, don’t you? This is huge stuff, this is big time heavenly business folks!

This also must mean that these angelic ruling multitudes are not having so much knowledge right now, about our Grace-standing with God and Christ, if anything at all. They are in line for getting first-hand testimony as to how it is with our Grace salvation by faith alone, no works!

So don’t you come knocking on the doors up there, with the four Gospels or Acts. Stay with Ephesians and Colossians only, comprende?

Some will say, but how can a simple Christian like me dare face the mighty angels of God, preaching to them? I was no preacher at all here on earth!!

Relax guys, God has already thought of that: verse 12 calms us saying that we …have boldness and confident access through faith in Jesus Christ…also up there in the heavens. Which means that faith does not cease as we enter heaven – no, it stays with us for all eternity. Great, isn’t it?

Verse 13 let us know that the sufferings of Paul, being a prisoner for the sake of us Gentiles, must not pull us down in sorrow – for his suffering is OUR GLORY. This gives us a bit to chew on, doesn’t it?

TO COMPREHEND WITH ALL THE SAINTS

THE GREATNESS OF GOD AND CHRIST

Eph. 3:14-21, NASB,

“14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,

15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,

16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,

17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,

19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,

21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”

This passage is self-explaining I believe. But still, I would like to point out verse 18, which actually declares ALL BELIEVERS IN CHRIST as SAINTS.

In the mystery-body, the ‘One New Man’, we are not seeing any sectioning among believers by class, or any kind of hierarchy. We are all on the same level in all matters of faith in Christ. We are ALL saints; we are holy people, set aside by the Lord, for the Lord, for heavenly ministry.

This is the final article in this series of three articles based upon Ephesians 1-3. I hope these are for your edification in the faith in Jesus Christ….but do go on and read also on your own, Ephesians 4-6 chapters. Wish you the best of luck…Grace to you!

EPHESIANS  2

FOR BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED

THROUGH

FAITH

JAN LILLEBY

Paul was very inspired as he built this marvelous doctrine of faith. The headline is found in Eph. 2:8, 9,

“8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

The entire epistle is so inspirational and stuffed to the brim with vital knowledge on Christ….like, it feels as if you are ‘plugged in’ to a high voltage contact and the light and the power of the Gospel rushes through you on every possible level of senses and understanding.

In chapter 1 Paul just went straight to the issue: You are saved, you are saints and the redeemed ones because of Christ.

Here, in chapter 2, he goes on and tells us how it is that we really are saved: Christ abolished the Law of Moses on the cross, thus creating the ‘one new man’ – Jew and Gentile made into one by removing the wall of partition, the enmity, - which of course was the Law. By faith we are part of that new creation, the ‘one new man’ – which I shall deal with below. Jesus was aware of that ‘Wall of Partition’ – and He described it in one of His parables on the Kingdom, found in three of the Gospels, - Mat.21:33, Mark 12:1 and Luke 20:9. I will quote Matthew’s version,

Listen to another parable. There was a landowner who PLANTED A VINEYARD AND PUT A WALL AROUND IT AND DUG A WINE PRESS IN IT, AND BUILT A TOWER, and rented it out to vine-growers and went on a journey.

But at the falling away of Israel as a nation of God (the Landowner in Jesus’ parable) – the whole vineyard was blotted out…Israel was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. Thus there are no longer any need for a ‘Wall of Partition’ (the Law of Moses) – the wall is gone as well as the place itself. You see the very logic in this reasoning? Paul was right indeed, saying that Jesus abolished the Law.  IMAGE: Jerusalem conquered and the temple burning, 70 CE.

We start at the beginning of the chapter,

Eph. 2:1-7, NASB,

“1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,

2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.

3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved ),

6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Verses 1 to 3 describes the misery of being unsaved, and thus …dead in our transgression…and even by nature being children of WRATH. Then Paul turn 180 degrees, saying in verse 4 (oh! I love this):

BUT GOD:::####:::  - God intervened into the misery of the world, displaying His graceful  riches of mercy…His great LOVE with which He LOVED US; in spite of us being already lost (dead) in transgressions.

Verse 5, He MADE US ALIVE together with CHRIST…and He raised us up WITH HIM.

And…lo-and-behold! He SEATED US WITH HIM IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS., verse 6.

This position shall continue forever and ever, ..in THE AGES TO COME…in that He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

There shall come and unending shifting of ‘ages’ (Greek, eons) – dispensations both on earth as well as in heaven on high. We cannot find in the Bible that God does away with the planet Earth. If it pleases God to have the earth here forever, then it will be here forever.

Compare this immense Biblical truth with the lunacy inside any ‘Save-the-Earth’ environmental movements. They all seem to think that one day in the future, we shall no longer find food enough, the water will be poisonous; or oil to run the industry and the machinery, - even oxygen may be emptying out of the system and we will choke to death. The protective ozone layer will disappear and so we will be fried to death by the sun. Not to mention that we (the military forces) might even destroy the world by banging off nuclear bombs and missiles and so forth and so on. Ending in a new ‘ice age’ due to the nuclear poisoning fallout.

But the Bible says otherwise.

In Rev. 21 we find God sending down the ‘New Jerusalem’ – after first having had the Millennial Kingdom of Christ on earth – and so the insane idea and paranoia of a destroyed earth is out of the question! (I wrote a substantial article series on that, but are no longer being published here).

It is not in God’s program at all to have the earth cancelled.

God will endlessly show us His overflowing divine glorious kindness, forever and ever…..both those on earth as well as those up in the heavens.

THE ABOLISHING OF THE LAW AT THE CROSS

Both Ephesians and Colossians have the doctrine of ‘Christ having abolished the Law’ – and in Eph. 2:13-16, NASB we find it,

“13 But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,

15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,

16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity.

The funny thing is, that the Pentecostals and Charismatics…as well as other denominations quote these lines as if the Church, the ‘one new man’ was a known fact from the day of the crucifixion – and thus also they persist on that the Acts 2 and Pentecost was the ‘Birthday of the Church’.

This false idea is found inside 90% of Christendom at least.

The fact is coming clear to us by studying Ephesians and Colossians, for by that we observe a huge difference between ‘before and after’ the revelation of the mystery Paul refers to in Eph. 3 and Col. 1. I shall come to this in the next article in this series…

This Biblical truth of Christ, having abolished the Law of Moses, was a part of that mystery mentioned. It was kept hidden from the Acts-body of believers. How do we know this?

We get to know this as we read Acts and comparing this with Ephesians and Colossians. In Acts we find that the Messianic believers observed the Law, but in Ephesians and Colossians the Law is abolished and blotted out.

So we have to conclude: Christ willfully kept the truth hidden of what happened on the day of His crucifixion – the Law blotted out – to be able to test His Jewish nation whether they would repent and come to faith in Him as their Messiah!

In Acts 28 (60 CE) we learn that Israel, represented by the Sanhedrin counsel at Rome, they rejected Jesus, and from that moment God turned away from Israel, leaving them to destruction ten years later, 70 CE.

You cannot find this major Bible truth taught by any other apostle than Paul, and he alone.

And only found in Paul’s two church epistles, Ephesians and Colossians. None of the four Gospels has it. Neither is it found any place in Acts.

Acts 21:20, 21, NASB,

“20 And when they heard it they began glorifying God; and they said to him, "You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law;

21 and they have been told about you, that you are teaching all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs.

The mother-church at Jerusalem, and the leadership, they all observed the Law. And this was in 58 CE, 30 years after the crucifixion.

Paul himself arrived at Jerusalem 58 CE, so he could observe what the Law commanded on Holy Feast Days: He wanted to obey by celebrating Pentecost, called ‘The Feast of the Weeks’ in Jewry.

But Post Acts we no longer find the Law observed. Because Paul had revealed to him by God that this was dealt with at the cross, back in 28 CE. The Law is now obsolete, - it is nullified and cast away entirely once and for all.

In the timespan of Acts, Paul explicitly taught that the Messianic believers were observing the Law – such as in Rom. 3:31 written in 56-57 CE at Ephesus,

Do we then nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law.

Paul knew nothing of the Law having been abolished at the cross, obviously. He wrote that they established, thus supported and obeyed the Law.

And as long as the Law was observed in the Acts-body of believers, we are not seeing the Church dispensation, are we?

For the church dispensation (Greek, oikonomia) did not emerge before Paul had been given the REVELATION OF THE MYSTERY.

PAUL SUMMING UP WHAT CHRIST DID IN MINISTRY,

AND NOW HAD CREATED A NEW KIND OF BODY

“17 AND HE CAME AND PREACHED PEACE TO YOU WHO WERE FAR AWAY, AND PEACE TO THOSE WHO WERE NEAR;

18 for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household,

20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,

21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord,

22  in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.

Notice that Paul here goes back to the fact that the new church body, the ‘one new man’ consists of Christ having joined together Jew and Gentile by faith – verse  18: ..we BOTH have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

Paul goes on and points out that we, Gentiles, we are no longer aliens but we are FELLOW CITIZENS with the saints (those who had come to faith earlier, during Paul’s Kingdom-ministry there), and are of God’s HOUSEHOLD: Verse 19.

In past tense he points to the early apostles to Israel, Peter and the eleven, and the prophets – and Jesus as the corner stone – having once laid the foundation. This operation was a ‘One off’. Understood: these apostles are no longer in function as ministers of the Gospel. They are no longer laying any foundation. Neither are there any following apostles after the first century. God had only chosen 13 apostles, and that was it.

The Kingdom-gospel was cancelled due to the fall of Israel in Acts 28:28, 60 CE. Paul declared to the Sanhedrin at Rome that the salvation was now sent to the GENTILES, and they shall listen.

Verse 22, the church – in which Jew and Gentile is made to one body – we are BEING (present tense) built TOGETHER into a dwelling of God in the Spirit. This definitely tells us that it is no longer a project of the future earthly Kingdom of God in Israel, but it is the heavenly Kingdom up above in the heavens Paul wrote about. Our calling is heavenly. And it is an international calling, for the entire population on earth. For those who will believe on Jesus Christ for salvation.

EPHESIANS 1:

OUR REDEMPTION IN THE

FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST

JAN LILLEBY

Ephesians 1, the chapter in which we find God raining…showering…yes, lavishing tons of eternal heavenly blessings upon us in Jesus Christ!

Notice that Paul was not addressing his epistle to unbelievers. He wrote to us who believes on Jesus Christ. Thus, when eventual unsaved people read it, they are getting an overview of the glorious salvation we have in Him. Making them jealous I hope. They would want to get hold of these blessings…I hope. And all it takes is their personal faith in Jesus Christ as the One Who can save them – God’s spotless innocent sacrificial Lamb, Who took upon Himself the sin of the World and paid in full our depth and guilt. And He rose from the dead on the third day, and was received in heaven – now seated at the right hand of God, His Father.

There are scholars who comments on Ephesians, by saying that the entire epistle seem to be one glorious sermon on Christ’s glory and power and grace. I tend to agree with those!

BLESSED IN HEAVENLY PLACES BY

FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST

Eph. 1:1-3, NASB,

“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus:

2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

Paul’s greeting does not contain threats and damnation if we don’t believe, but he opens with GRACE, and then PEACE, for to top it off with EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS in heavenly places. Blessings in plural tense, combined with past tense! We are already blessed…as well as that blessing shall continue forever and ever. It is never going to end.

It is not going to get better than this!

No one can ever top it off…we already have been BLESSED with EVERY spiritual blessing in HEAVENLY PLACES.

It says, PLACES…not  ‘a place’. Plural tense.

Heaven up there with Christ is a PLACE among other places in heaven.

Our calling is HEAVENLY, not earthly. At the time being, we simply cannot fully understand the full gorgeous meaning of being blessed. But it is HUGE…immensely and gloriously!

What a way to start a letter to the saints at Ephesus. It must have ‘blown their socks off’…as they sat listening to the person who read it aloud to the congregation!

I will throw in here, for the show of it, Col. 3:1-4, as Paul pointed to the HEAVEN UP ABOVE as the right focus for the church,

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

Our calling is the heaven up above, and not the Kingdom of God on earth. It is non-negotiable that our hope of salvation is entirely and gloriously HEAVEN UP ABOVE.

Paul wrote in Greek, and heaven is translated from epouranios, which means the ‘heaven-up-above-the heavens. Strong’s Lexicon G2032.

But heaven does not mean another planet or such. It is a place and places away from the earth, and into another ‘dimension’ – a heavenly dimension higher than the universe. It cannot be reached with rockets and spaceships.

When Jesus ascended up to God, He was disappearing surrounded by a thick sort of cloud. And Jesus was super-naturally transferred right into the heaven where He still resides with His Father. He did not travel in space…at mega-speeds…eventually landing on a planet called ‘Heaven’. His entering into heaven was entirely super-natural, defying any law of nature. Science cannot ever tell how this was accomplished, but God just did it, Acts 1:9.

OUR SINS FORGIVEN ACCORDING

TO THE RICHES OF HIS GRACE

Eph. 1:4-7, NASB,

“4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love

5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,

6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.”

Paul continues his line of telling us how great a salvation we have been given by the grace of God. He even calls it …the riches of His grace, v. 7.

His grace is an expression of how rich and glorious God and Christ are. Likewise it is that as immensely rich God is, that is also how great His forgiveness is, His mercies and His loving care for us poor human beings, since we do believe on Jesus Christ.

His grace and His blessings greatly surpasses all understanding, we cannot possibly comprehend how great He is in His grace towards us.

“But God hates all sin!!”

Yes, of course He does, but He loves us in Christ and He identify us with His beloved Son, Who has cleansed us with His own sacrificial blood on the cross, and deemed us entirely righteous before Him. God has got full payment for all our sins, as Jesus gave His life at the cross.

Put simply: He has done it all, and we have done nothing. All we have done is having faith in Jesus. We are not saved by works or by observing the Law of Moses, etcetera. There are no ordinances for the church to keep, whatsoever.

Insomuch that Paul declares in Col. 1:13, 14, NASB,

For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,

14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Paul’s rhetoric style is evident here – almost as a metaphor, we ARE ALREADY transferred over into His heavenly Kingdom!

The Grace-Gospel of Paul is operating in the highest of divine spheres, far above the earthly Kingdom-promises which the twelve apostles preached to Israel in their time. Paul’s grace gospel exceeds greatly all four historic gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Paul pointed us to the heavenly realms in Christ in the heaven up above, at the right hand of God His Father. This heavenly salvation was revealed to Paul for us Gentiles, he said in Eph. 3.

Ephesians chapter 1 is one bright shining jewel of God’s glorious word of salvation for us Gentiles. It flows over with divine superlatives and the glory of God in Christ for us, all by faith and in His eternal grace.

THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVEN AS A

PLEDGE TO OUR INHERITANCE

Eph. 1:8-14, NASB,

“8 which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight

9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him

10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him

11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,

12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory.

13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation -having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.”

I have clipped in an AI-generated explanation of the word ‘lavished’ – found in verse 8, quote,

The word lavished means to give, spend, or bestow something—such as gifts, affection, or praise—in extremely generous, extravagant, or excessive amounts. When you lavish something on someone, you are showering them with it abundantly or without limit.

As I already told above: it doesn’t get better than this! Not ever.

It seem like Paul displayed to us immediately ALL OF GOD’S BLESSINGS in the First Chapter of Ephesians, and in repetitive manner.

And in the remaining chapters following, he explains all of that in a more detailed and formal doctrinal manner.

Like for instance, when coming to Eph. 3 – we are told that these divine blessings by faith WAS GIVEN TO HIM, FOR US GENTILES, BY GOD REVEALING A MYSTERY.

In verse 9 Paul already gives a hint to the mystery- ‘…the mystery of His will…”

Then come the Biblical truth for all Christ-believers: we have gotten an inheritance, verse 11, and then we learn that God gave us the Holy Spirit as a Pledge to this inheritance, a guarantee that we will get what is promised. Verses 12-14.  Wow!  What a spiritual divine ‘rain shower’!

THE GREATNESS OF HIS POWER

TOWARD US WHO BELIEVE

“15 For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all the saints,

16 do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers;

17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.

18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might

20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

This is powerful stuff – directly from God’s handout to us via the Grace-Gospel of Paul.

Notice that it is not by OUR WORKING….but it is by God’s STRENGTH OF HIS MIGHT, verse 19. Big, big difference there. It is God Who, in Christ, makes all things work in our favor in the heavenly calling we have been given.

THE FULLNESS OF HIM

WHO FILLS ALL IN ALL

“21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,

23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Paul – again – points out the immense glorious divine might which Jesus Christ possesses; He has ALL of what God has. We could really say here, like Father, like Son.

And this mighty Savior, Jesus the Son of God, He is the HEAD of His church. Jesus is our real Pastor, as well as the fact that He is our ONLY Pastor.

THE VARIOUS ASCENSIONS

OF SAINTS IN

THE BIBLE CANON

JAN LILLEBY

Throughout the Bible we find several incidents where God took certain believers/saints/prophets… up to heaven. Without them first having died, that is. But the most glorious one died first, and was raised from the dead thereafter. Namely Jesus Christ, the Son of God Almighty.

So, of course, the most glorious one of these ascensions was when God took His Son Jesus Christ up, as described in the Gospels and in Acts. See image.

I would like to start with this most glorious and divine intervention performed by God, the Father of Jesus Christ.

JESUS ASCENDING TO HEAVEN ACCORDING

TO THE GOSPEL HISTORY

Matthew:

No history telling of the risen Lord’s ascension.

John:

Same as with Matthew.

Mark:

Ch. 16:19 says, “So then the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and He sat down at the right hand of God.” (Psalm 110:1 has a prophecy by King David on this).

Luke:

Ch. 24:50-53 says,

“Then he conducted them out as far as Bethany, and, lifting up His hands, He invoked a blessing on them. And it occurred that while He was blessing them, He parted from them and was taken up into heaven. And they, worshipping Him, went back to Jerusalem with great joy; and they were continually in the temple celebrating with praises and blessing and extolling God.”

Acts 1:9-11  says,

“And when He had said this, even as they were looking at Him, He was caught up, and a cloud received and carried Him away out of their sight. And while they were gazing intently into heaven as He went, behold two men (angels) in white robes suddenly stood beside them. Who said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing into heaven? This same Jesus, Who was caught away and lifted up from among you into heaven, will return in the same way in which you saw Him go into heaven.”  (Verse 12 tells that it happened at Mt. Olives, which is about 1, 2 kilometer from Jerusalem ‘Down Town’.)

EDITOR’S NOTE:  Luke was the author of both Acts and the Gospel of Luke. Still, we find two geographic places mentioned for where Jesus was taken up into heaven – Mt. Olives and Bethany. The latter was sited about 3,3 kilometers east of the city, across Mt. Olives. See map: It can be fair to say that both places are correct…and we also find in Zec. 14:4 that Jesus shall ‘land’ on Mt. Olives, causing the place to split!

THE TWO SAINTS WHO WERE CAUGHT UP

WITHOUT FIRST DYING

These two were Enoch and Elijah.

Enoch is mentioned by Jude in short terms, and in Heb. 11.

Jude 1: 14, 15,

14 It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, "Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones,

15 to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

Thus Enoch was proven to have had a prophetic ministry for God.

Hebrews 11:5, 6, portrays Enoch as one who ‘walked with God’ in a pleasing manner, so God took him up into His heaven…rewarding his faithfulness,

«5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; AND HE WAS NOT FOUND BECAUSE GOD TOOK HIM UP; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God.

6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

There is no Biblical word or reasoning that can dismiss Enoch as a believer, who in his time was taken into heaven alive, and must therefore also still be alive up there.

Elijah was also one who escaped death (thus far – knowing he shall be killed in the Great Tribulation, as seen in Rev. 11:7, 8), a prophet who was carried up by the means of God’s ‘chariot of fire’ – perhaps the most dramatically described ascension narrative told in the Bible. Even Hollywood with all its fabulous stunts and technically advanced computerized action-scenarios, - cannot even come close to this striking scenario with Elijah flashing up in the sky carried by burning horses pulling God’s flaming ‘wagon’!

We clearly notice that both Enoch and Elijah were prophets of God, going up against ungodliness and idolatry in ancient times.

Here is what an AI-generated list says:

Elijah (2 Kings 2:11)

  • The Account: In 2 Kings 2:11, the prophet Elijah is taken up to heaven by a whirlwind, accompanied by a chariot of fire and horses of fire.

  • The Details: Elisha, his successor, witnessed this event. Elijah was transported bodily into heaven without dying.

2 Kings 2:11, 12, says,

“11 As they were going along and talking, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire which separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind to heaven.

12 Elisha saw it and cried out, "My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!" And he saw Elijah no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces.

There has been, and still is, some disputes among scholars whether Elijah is alive today. But any such dispute dies right away, when we read the report of Matthew 17 – and the vision on Mt. Tabor. For it explicitly says Elijah was alive in verses 1-13, - which happened shortly before Passover in 28 CE, when Jesus went to His crucifixion.

“1 Six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves.

2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light.

3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.

“4 Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah."

5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!"

6 When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified.

7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, "Get up, and do not be afraid."

8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone.

9 As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man has risen from the dead."

10 And His disciples asked Him, "Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"

11 And He answered and said, "Elijah is coming and will restore all things;

12 but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wished. So also the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands."

13 Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Baptist.”

I have emphasized verse 3: it is no doubt that both Moses AND Elijah actually spoke with Jesus, as men-to-a-man. They were actually PHYSICALLY present on that mount meeting with Jesus, shortly before He would go to Jerusalem and get crucified. Peter’s reaction confirms the fact that the two prophets were physically present, and real…since he suggested that he should build three tabernacles, one for each of them. Peter experienced the two as real live men, and not as ‘holograms’ and pure visionary sight.

We also notice from the text that the real Elijah (not John the Baptist – he was beheaded back in Mat. 14) shall come for to restore ALL THINGS (pertaining to Israel and the future establishing of its Kingdom) – meaning that His mention of the Baptist was only regarding his ministry to go ahead of Jesus, introducing Him to the Jews by water baptism. He was ‘one like Elijah’ – and not The prophet Elijah himself. If John was executed by Herod Antipas in Mat. 14, several months before Jesus said that …Elijah shall come for to restore All things…then we know He was speaking of the real Elijah and not the Baptist. This timespan between Mat. 14 and Mat. 17, is supported among scholars, generally speaking.

So, once more: yes, Elijah is alive and well, and shall come down to Israel before and during the Great Tribulation – and again be partnered with Moses, Rev. 11. They are the ones called ‘the two witnesses’, v. 3-4.

Luke also has a word on the meeting at Mt. Tabor.

 Ch. 9:30-31, says,

“30 And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah,

31 who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.”

They had an important errand: to inform Jesus of His forthcoming death at Jerusalem!

Personally I believe that they came to bring comfort and assurance to the Lord, that in spite of the suffering, He would be cared for by His Father, and raised from the dead.

We must remember that Jesus was a genuine ‘regular’ human being, however without sin and blemish – like a sacrificial Lamb. Jesus had thoughts, emotions, - He could laugh and He could moan and cry…He was a fully normal man in those regards. He could get real angry, as when He made a whip and chased the money-changers and sellers out of the temple! Jesus had to sleep at night, and He ate breakfast, He washed up, He combed His hair, or even cut it if it took too much length…and so on and so forth. He could get tired from work, and He even went aside from His disciples at certain days, to be in peace and quiet… to be able to fully rest up for a coming day of work.

Moses, he too had to die before he was resurrected.

Moses himself prophesied of Jesus, as a prophet like me, and if one did not take heed to his words, God would remove such unbelievers, destroying them (Deut. 18:18-19).

From Peter’s second speech, a few months after Acts 2, is mentioning this – pointing to Jesus,

Acts 3:22, 23,

“22 "Moses said, 'THE LORD GOD WILL RAISE UP FOR YOU A PROPHET LIKE ME FROM YOUR BRETHREN; TO HIM YOU SHALL GIVE HEED to everything He says to you.

23 'And it will be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.”

This was literally so: Moses’ words ‘a prophet like me’ – mirrored also a MAN WHO WOULD DIE, BUT THEN RAISED FROM THE DEAD. Jesus was that prophet, Who first died (like Moses) and thereafter raised from the dead, like Moses was. Angels were active regarding Moses being raised, and angels were seen regarding the resurrection of Jesus! Likeness to Moses and vice-versa.

And which in Deut. 34 shows Moses as he died, Jude 1:9 shows how he was raised from the dead, by assistance from the archangel Michael,

But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

It ‘lies in the cards’ that Moses was resurrected from the dead!  Proof: his appearance together with Elijah at Mt. Tabor, speaking with Jesus, as I told above.

THE FALSE CATHOLIC DOCTRINE OF

MARY ASSUMED BODY AND SOUL

INTO HEAVEN

The Catholic Church managed to create a doctrine, based on pure human imagination, regarding Mary.

But there exists no Biblical document or testimony saying that Mary went to heaven, body and soul.

Here are some key points regarding the false doctrine created by the Catholic Church:

“The Catholic Church teaches that Mary was assumed (taken) body and soul into heaven at the end of her life, not that she ascended by her own power like Jesus. This dogma, defined by Pope Pius XII in 1950, is known as the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on August 15.

Key Aspects of the Teaching:

  • Assumed vs. Ascended: Mary was "taken up" (assumed) by God, whereas Jesus ascended into heaven by his own power.

  • Body and Soul: The Church teaches that Mary's body did not suffer decay but was united with her soul in heaven.

  • Dogma: Defined in the 1950 Apostolic Constitution Munificentissimus Deus, this is a central, infallible belief.

  • Death: The Church does not definitively define whether Mary died before being assumed or was assumed before death, though the tradition (Ordinary Magisterium) generally teaches that she did die.

This belief is grounded in Sacred Tradition rather than direct scriptural testimony”.

PAUL’S WORDS ON HAVING BEEN CAUGHT

UP INTO HEAVEN AS IN A VISION

In 2 Corinthians 12:1-4, Paul describes being "caught up" to the "third heaven" or Paradise, where he heard inexpressible things, likely occurring about 14 years prior. He highlights that he did not know if this vision was in the body or out of the body, boasting of this experience only through his infirmities.

Key Details of Paul's Vision:

  • The Experience: Paul speaks of "visions and revelations from the Lord".

  • The Location: He was caught up to the "third heaven," which he also describes as "Paradise".

  • His Physical State: Paul emphasizes, "Whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows".

  • The Revelation: He heard "inexpressible words," which were not permitted for a person to speak, or that no man can utter.

  • Reason for Sharing: He mentioned this experience to validate his apostolic work, but he did not want to be praised for it.

  • The "Thorn": To prevent him from being conceited due to the "greatness of the revelations," Paul states he was given a "thorn in the flesh". He also calls that ‘torn’ for a messenger of Satan beating him, causing pain, 2 Cor. 12:7. This can thus be called for a fallen angel of Satan. He is not named anywhere in the Bible.

The one fact we can draw from this is that Paul was not taken up into heaven in the capacity of ‘Final Salvation’ – for to stay there!

Paul will have to wait (as he now rests in the sleep of death) for the Day of Redemption, which is the day the church enters heaven physically for to stay.

Paul’s visions of heavenly abodes were for his edification, to support and inform the apostle in his ministry. It was not an act of salvation as such.

FINALLY WE HAVE ONE FUTURE

EVENT IN WHICH SAINTS

WILL BE BOTH RAISED FROM THE DEAD

AND THEREAFTER TAKEN INTO HEAVEN

This group of believers/saints will be us, the believers in Christ according to the Grace-Gospel of Paul for us Gentiles, Eph. 3:1-3.

The day that this will occur is called by the apostle for ‘The Day of Redemption’, Eph. 4:30.

All Christian believers in this dispensation of the Church, the ‘one new man’ – are saved. Those who die as believers before that conclusive ‘day of redemption’ shall be raised up to life in the epiouranios heaven, Greek for heaven-up-above-heavens. We shall not be raised up from graves on earth, but we shall be experiencing that resurrection in heaven.

There is no sure word from Paul whether this gigantic move of God will be witnessed by the world or not. But nevertheless it will be most certainly noticed: Where have all the millions and millions Christian believers gone? For such a move of God will undoubtedly be noted as so many people are disappearing in the same day! Houses and jobs left empty? Millions of people not showing up at job? Cars parked on parking lots and along the streets just left there, and nobody comes to pick up the car they parked? Banks will experience that millions of customers suddenly no longer pay their monthly dues? How about the insanely overloads of patients of doctors who no longer meets up to carry on their treatments and medications? How can the authorities come up with an attestation on whether a missing person is alive or has died? How can estate brokers be sure to sell all those vacant houses and apartments – unless the police come up with a closure on the owner’s status, dead or alive?  In one word, this can be called chaos. The worst chaos ever seen on earth.

However, I disagree with those who think that God for instance, will take a Christian air pilot out of the plane…leaving it to crash and killing the passengers onboard. Or the same with a cab driver, or a train driver, or whoever that would be in charge for his passenger’s wellbeing. God has myriads of angelic servants, and it would be a small matter to Him to have them assist in such situations, and so avoid any kind of accidents and chaotic deaths of innocents. An angel will know how to fly the plane and landing it safely. Same as with all other means of transport incidents. God will not let millions innocent ignorant people die because of us Christians being taken up to heaven. I am sure of it. Just to have cleared this sort of speculation.

And those who are alive at that day of redemption’ shall be super-naturally transferred right into heaven by God and the Holy Spirit. We have gotten the Holy Spirit as a SEAL FOR THE DAY OF REDEMPTION. This glorious event must not be confused with the so-called ‘rapture into clouds’ found in 1 Thes. 4:13-17, I shall come to that below.

Paul’s description of the church going to heaven is found in Col. 3:1-4,

“1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.”

This glory with Christ, as the day of redemption arrives is a glory up in heaven where He is receiving us. It is not Jesus coming down to us, but us coming up to Him.

As the two witnesses in Rev. 11 are raised after laying three days dead on a street in Jerusalem, they are told by a voice saying: …come up here.. and not, “I shall come down to you and take you up here with Me”.  Rev. 11:11, 12,

“11 But after the three and a half days, the breath of life from God came into them, and they stood on their feet; and great fear fell upon those who were watching them.

12 And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." Then they went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies watched them.

The church, us – the ‘one new man’ are not awaiting the Second Advent, for only Israel (in the future) shall experience this coming of the Lord. He shall be King in Jerusalem, as prophesied in the Old Testament, and also according to Gabriel’s greeting to Mary in Luke 1:31-33. But the church will not have any connection to the Second Advent, and that is why Paul did not mention this Advent in his two church epistles. We have a calling for the heavenly spheres, the epiouranios heaven. Thus Paul describes us as such believers who are already placed in heaven, check out Eph. 1 and 2, and Col. 1-3. An example may be: Eph. 1:3, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ”.

This is the glorious heavenly hope in Christ given His body of believers, the ‘one new man’ in Eph. 2:15.

Another group of believers was described as such ones who will be raptured up in clouds, according to 1 Thes. 4, - but it was the Acts-body of Jewish believers and their proselytes.

This is now obsolete – and will not ever occur! I just mention these souls for the record.

From the moment that God established the present dispensation, with the Grace-Salvation (see Eph. 3:1-3), they are included with us regarding the heavenly hope. The hope of a rapture was cancelled due to Israel’s fall and destruction/scattering. This rapture was only pertaining to the coming of Christ from heaven, the Parousia – in Greek, which is His physical arrival and staying on earth. He would then rapture the saints in Israel and elsewhere gathering them there. This rapture was not for being taken up to heaven, but for being landed in the Kingdom of God on earth, namely Israel!

This hope of salvation was only for the earthly Kingdom-believers, a regime which Jesus should establish at His Second Advent. God charged Israel however, to first repent as a nation, before He could send Christ down.

They could not and would not meet these terms for salvation, and was divorced from God as a nation, as Paul confronted the Sanhedrin counsel at Rome in 60 CE, Acts 28. Verse 28 declares that God from now on has turned to the Gentiles (ethnos, the nations) – and no longer addresses the nation of Israel. They lost their elevated position with God, since they would not receive Christ!

The whole teaching of the rapture was only for the Acts-body, and never has had anything to do with the church, the ‘one new man’.

This kind of Kingdom-hope and salvation and even resurrection (as in 1 Thes. 4) has thus been cancelled entirely, and it will not ever happen like Paul then described to the Messianic saints. This was valid only in the time of Acts, as the apostles preached the Kingdom-Gospel to the nation.

But God will turn to the Jews again, as He sends the Great Tribulation upon them, prophesied by Jesus in Mat. 24:21, 22 – a time of 7 years to purge and cleanse Israel from all disbelief and iniquity so they will receive Jesus as He comes from heaven to establish His Kingdom.

Summing it all up, we have totally four people who have been taken to heaven in Biblical times, Enoch, Moses, Elijah, and Jesus.

The next to enter heaven will of course be us, the Body of Christ, called ‘one new man’ by Paul. We are found as believers from all over the world, internationally, and this great glorious salvation is a gift of God, by faith, and without any works…

Eph. 2:8, 9,

“8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

I N T R O D U C T I O N

(THIS BOOKLET HAS 27 PAGES)

What in the world are you up to now, Jan…???

I wish I knew – but I have just started a serious ‘roller coaster ride’ tracing Paul the apostle of Christ. Not only on a road map, but in the many dramatic situations that went along with Paul both physical as well as spiritually.

When I mention Paul – that is enough to set off a detonation of explosive events in Biblical history….cause Paul was used by the Lord in such a way that he really changed everything.

What exactly I mean by that, - will be looked upon below in this read. Paul was a key-person to God’s plan regarding salvation of humankind.

We have to go to Acts to find Paul, firstly called Saul. But I have the advantage of being ‘armed’ with his Doctrine of Faith, as he wrote to the Church, the Body of Christ…which he also called for ‘one new man’. When we thus come on with both the historical narrative of Acts coupled with the doctrinal of Ephesians and Colossians, we’ve got dynamite!

I noticed a very true saying, uttered by the famous actor Sir David Suchet (he who played detective Hercule Poirot in many TV-series). In a documentary series on Paul the Apostle, he said…if it had not been for Paul’s journeys preaching the Gospel to the Gentiles, the Christian early sect would have been forgotten, lost to the world. It would have died out and the world would not have gotten the Gospel.

I must agree to this saying. Peter and the eleven never were sent to the world outside Israel. But Paul certainly was!

“PAUL IN ACTS ERA”

PRIOR TO THE ERA OF THE CHURCH:

PAUL’S CONVERSION 37 CE, TO ROME 62 CE

This is how it all started, at Paul’s journey on his way to Damascus to arrest and punish the disciples/believers of Jesus Christ, Acts 9:1-9, NASB,

“1 Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,

2 and asked for letters from him to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

3 As he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him;

4 and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"

5 And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" And He said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,

6 but get up and enter the city, and it will be told you what * you must do."

7 The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one.

8 Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus.

9 And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.

Paul was actually knocked out of his wits by the Lord’s revelation, blinded, and he must have been scared to death: now I will be punished for my consent to the stoning of Stephen….!!  I am finished. This is it!!

Paul’s dramatic encounter with Jesus, as He revealed Himself to him at the road to Damascus, entirely changed the history of the world! And also – eventually – the history of Christian faith in the world as such.

Jesus laid a heavy burden upon the shoulders of Paul. But He was with him all the way, to see through that the Gospel was sent out to us Gentiles…after first having it preached to Israel and the Jews.

Jesus spoke to Ananias at Damascus, when he was used to take care of the newly converted Saul, after the powerful revelation changing him, and He told him, via a vision to Ananias, quote,

“But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel; for I will show him how much he must suffer for My name's sake." (Acts 9:15, 16).

Jesus did not tell Paul directly…but He discretely told Ananias that Paul would suffer much for the sake of His name! Going to the provinces of the Roman Empire with its many Jewish Synagogues, would indeed pester Paul with all sorts of hardship and trouble, as we read on in Acts. Three groups of people were mentioned to Ananias, - Gentiles, kings and the sons of Israel.

RIGHT AFTER PAUL’S CONVERSION,

HIS DRAMATIC MINISTRY STARTED, AS DID

PERIL AND SUFFERINGS FOR THE LORD’S SAKE

Acts 9:19-23, NASB,

“19 Now for several days he was with the disciples who were at Damascus,

20 and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying, "He is the Son of God."

20 All those hearing him continued to be amazed, and were saying, "Is this not he who in Jerusalem destroyed those who called on this name, and who had come here for the purpose of bringing them bound before the chief priests?"

22 But Saul kept increasing in strength and confounding the Jews who lived at Damascus by proving that this Jesus is the Christ.

23 When many days had elapsed, the Jews plotted together to do away with him,”

Paul was, at this early stage in ministry, preaching to the Jews, verse 22. After many days doing so, - right ‘out of the box’ came what was going to become his ‘Brand mark’ - …the JEWS plotted together to do away with him…” verse 23.

The drama was on.

This is what the Bible says of his very first ‘getaway’ escaping his angry persecutors, verses 24-31, - now Paul was coming on in full open publicly in Jerusalem, preaching the very opposite of when he had started to persecute the Messianic believers there, (participation in Stephen’s death, Acts 8:1-3),

“24 but their plot became known to Saul. They were also watching the gates day and night so that they might put him to death;

25 but his disciples took him by night and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a large basket.

26 When he came to Jerusalem, he was trying to associate with the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.

27 But Barnabas took hold of him and brought him to the apostles and described to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had talked to him, and how at Damascus he had spoken out boldly in the name of Jesus.

28 And he was with them, moving about freely in Jerusalem, speaking out boldly in the name of the Lord.

29 And he was talking and arguing with the Hellenistic Jews; but they were attempting to put him to death.

30 But when the brethren learned of it, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him away to Tarsus.

31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase.”

Paul acted just about unstoppable…he raged on and went straight into the lion’s den at Jerusalem, the group of Hellenistic Jews. And for the second time, yet so early in his ministry, he was threatened and his life was at stake! Personally, I believe that Paul thought he had an obligation to tell his fellow countrymen at Jerusalem, that Jesus and His disciples must not be opposed. “They are of God, and their message to us Jews is entirely correct! We must take heed to their message.”

So consequently, knowing that nothing would stop Paul in his efforts, the disciples in town thought it was best to have Paul sent back to his hometown Tarsus. They could not let anyone succeed in their evil plans to kill him, - verse 30. It is widely estimated among scholars that Paul must have been around the age of 27-30…since this was the most common with the students of Scripture as they passed the examination.

Paul was a learned Pharisee with papers to prove his skills, however so young, having been taught by Gamaliel. See Acts 5:33-39. Gamaliel advised against persecuting the apostles! So, that goes to show that Paul not only was a furious persecutor of the disciples, but he actually rebelled against the goodhearted soul, Gamaliel, his own tutor. Not in class perhaps, but a few years later…as Paul participated in the stoning of Stephen. Gamaliel however, he was more than a regular ‘Rabbi’ – he had earned the honorable title of ‘Rabbon’ – which means ‘Our teacher’. He was a Pharisee and a well-respected member of the Sanhedrin at Jerusalem.

Now, Paul’s stay in Tarsus would not last for very long. Paul had a powerful ‘comeback’ as an apostle of Christ…and thus the persecution of the apostle would be on again. It is held true that he was in Tarsus for two years only.

PAUL’S COMEBACK, INITIATED BY GOD

USING BARNABAS FOR THE TASK

Acts 11:25, 26, NASB,

“25 And he (Barnabas) left for Tarsus to look for Saul;

26 and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And for an entire year they met with the church and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.”

Barnabas is described as a believing Messianic Jew  a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And considerable numbers were brought to the Lord. See verse 24.

Thus God found it convenient to use Barnabas to have Paul getting on with the ministry He had called him to. This happened in the time when Emperor Tiberius Claudius reigned; from January 24, 41 CE, to October 13, 54 CE, - he brought unexpected stability, bureaucracy expansion, and military expansion to Rome, most notably the conquest of Britain in 43 CE. His full name was Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus.

Acts 11:27-30, NASB, tells of a famine ‘…all over the world…”,

“27 Now at this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.

28 One of them named Agabus stood up and began to indicate by the Spirit that there would certainly be a great famine all over the world. And this took place in the reign of Claudius.

29 And in the proportion that any of the disciples had means, each of them determined to send a contribution for the relief of the brethren living in Judea.

30 And this they did, sending it in charge * of Barnabas and Saul to the elders”.

This foretold famine was terrible, and this is how an AI-generated comment puts it:

The famine during Emperor Claudius's reign (c. A.D. 41–54) was highly severe and widespread, characterized by multiple regional crises rather than one single event. Significant shortages occurred in Rome, Judea, Syria, and Greece, lasting from about A.D. 46 until at least A.D. 54, causing extreme hardships like soaring food prices.

Key Details of the Crisis:

  • Widespread Impact: It included a major famine in Judea (c. 46 CE) and recurring food scarcity in Rome.

  • Causes: The crisis was caused by a combination of factors, including poor harvests, a rising Nile, and regional unrest.

  • Urban Danger: In Rome, the shortages were so severe that citizens pelted Emperor Claudius with bread, according to Suetonius.

  • Infrastructure Response: To combat the crisis, Claudius heavily invested in infrastructure, including the construction of the Portus harbor.

  •  Historical Documentation: The famine is confirmed by both ancient historians like Tacitus and Josephus, and is mentioned in the New Testament (Acts 11:28).

Notice in verses 29-30, we learn that Barnabas and Paul were elected to bring the economic help/aid to the Christian Messianic believers in Judea. This was not a mission free of dangers: along the Roman roads there constantly were robbers and dangerous elements…and even the Roman authorities had problems with stopping this. That is the reason we find Paul (later in history) was transported down to Caesarea – not by 4-5 soldiers – but by 470 heavily armed Roman soldiers, as we read Acts 23:23,

“And he called to him two of the centurions and said, "Get two hundred soldiers ready by the third hour of the night to proceed to Caesarea, with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen."

The Roman Captain, Claudius Lysias, wanted Paul to be safe from the death-threats he had heard from the angry mob in the temple site, Jerusalem. And he knew how certain roads were infested with robbers and villains. (The road to Caesarea was nearly 70 miles long, equal to the ‘600 stadia’ told by Josephus. That makes about 116 kilometer – but todays route on modern roads is 120 kilometer). See image of Road no. 6 to Caesarea, as it shows the landscape near Shoham Town.

Paul mention such dangers in 2 Cor. 11:26, NASB,

I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my countrymen, dangers from the Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers on the sea, dangers among false brethren;

But the gift sent with the two, Paul and Barnabas, was arriving with them as they came to the elders in the Messianic assembly in Judea. I will make a short side-remark to this incident: we learn from the Gospel preaching of Jesus, offering Israel to have a kingdom with Himself as their Messiah King, He bade (or urged) His close followers to SELL THEIR PROPERTIES and valuables, and so invest this into the (coming) Kingdom promised. Barnabas was one of those who chose to do this for the Lord, Acts 4:36, 37. Barnabas was a Levite, and thus member of the Priestly tribe of Levy, as with Moses and Aaron.

Jesus’ preaching on giving is found in Mat. 19:21; Mark. 10:29, 30; and also seen practiced in Acts 2:44, 45And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Editors note: “All” here, means ALL their fellow believers, and not just anyone. It was shared only between the congregations of Messianic believers. And according to Acts 2, they were around 3-4000 souls.

What a faith! What a heroic effort among the Messianic early believers! We might as well conclude that the entire assembly at Jerusalem and in Judea was heroes of faith and obedience to the Lord!

They all had in mind that Jesus at His Second Advent would establish the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, and Himself as the King of Israel. Provided Israel first would repent and believe on Him. Thus the well-known question they asked Jesus, Acts 1:6,  ….So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, "Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?" (referring to the promised coming of the Holy Spirit, v. 5).

But due to the hard hearted Jews, not getting converted to faith in Jesus Messiah, the Second Advent tarried…and thus the money were used up and they could not meet the bills pounding on their doors. So when that dreadful famine (it lasted full 8 years, from 46 CE) hit the region along the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea, it was in high demand to get help sent to them, like we just read above. Luke thus has given us proof of the fact that the Messianic believers, in Acts time, expected Jesus to come again in their life time! It is clear that when they were selling off their properties, their diverse valuable belongings, it was with the expected Second Advent in mind. That was their hope of salvation actually. The Kingdom of God on earth. The congregation must have gotten very sad and somewhat depressed over the famine and perils thereof hitting them. ‘Where is our Messiah Jesus? Isn’t He going to come back here after all?  What is happening?’

Allow me telling you, that as we find the apostolic council at Jerusalem, Acts 15 – agreeing on how to guide the proselytes in light of the Law of Moses, the famine was keeping Israel and other places in peril. It was 49 CE, and the famine lasted till 54 CE. Thus – I cannot by any means explain to you how it was that Luke did NOT refer to this ill situation…hunger, lack of money, clothing getting worn out, eventual diseases due to that famine (?)…it seems like he left such depressing information out of his story willfully. And if Peter was starving, and James and the others, then surely Paul suffered with them. It also has to be said: This horrific famine was probably so crushing and pestering to them all, that Luke detested even to use one single word to describe it. But I also suspect that in those times the believers prayed to the Lord, like, as no one had prayed before – wouldn’t you think? Imagine (God forbid!) if a serious famine hit the USA, or the UK or other continents. What would we Christian believers do?  Actually, such dreadful famines have plagued vast parts of Africa for many decades. Africa is veterans in regard to famines and uproar and disease and mass deaths over centuries, sorry to say.

These issues shall be dealt with from the day that Jesus Christ arrives from heaven to establish His Kingdom of God on earth. He will indeed solve all these problems, included wars. By Isaiah, He is called for the Prince of Peace…and shall lead the world into a time when weapons are removed entirely.

Paul was thus part of a change in regard of giving gifts/aid to the Lord: from now on it was no longer  “..sell everything you have, and give to the poor” – but it became: give according to what each of you can afford!

But the Acts story also gives us very unfortunate information regarding the seriousness of giving to the Lord – namely the greedy theft committed by Ananias and Sapphira, Acts 5:1-11. They were both caught in willfully lying before God and the Holy Spirit, and they fell dead in the presence of Peter. But this kind of judgmental action is no longer in effect in this age of the church dispensation. We live in the Grace era, and the Law of Moses abolished, Eph. 2:14, 15.

In Acts 12 Luke paused his referring to Paul’s ministry, and went back to Peter and the eleven. It had become the year 44 CE – when the evil Herod Agrippa I was king of Judea – and he persecuted the assembly at Jerusalem during Passover that year. He killed James, and jailed Peter. But he was rescued by an angel of God.

But in Acts 13 we shall find the real start of Paul’s dramatically apostolic ministry.

LUKE CONSENTRATED HIS STORY TELLING,

ON FOLLOWING ONLY PAUL HEREAFTER

In the four Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, we find that it was Jesus in person, present on earth and giving His disciples the commission to go preach the Gospel to Israel.

But in Acts 13, as Luke refers to the assembly at Antioch, we find the only incident in which the Holy Spirit sends out apostles to go OUTSIDE of Israel. The twelve followed Jesus’ order as they tended to the lost sheep of the house of Israel (John 21) – but now, 8-9 years after Pentecost in Acts 2, God wanted to have a separate apostle to go outside, to the Gentiles, Jews and kings. Paul was to be sent to the eastern parts of the Empire so that those who had not heard the Gospel preached during the following several Pentecost feasts in Jerusalem could hear of Jesus Messiah. This action by the Holy Spirit simply confirms to us that the twelve were never sent to the Gentile world outside Israel’s land. That is the reason He had Paul sent for this mission.

Acts 13:1-5, NASB,

“1 Now there were at Antioch, in the church that was there, prophets and teachers: Barnabas, and Simeon who was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2 While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

3 Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia and from there they sailed to Cyprus.

5 When they reached Salamis, they began to proclaim the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews; and they also had John as their helper.

NOW THE RACE WAS ON – REGARDING ALL

THE HARDSHIP THAT WOULD COME AGAINST PAUL

Paul’s ministry was not only persecution and trouble, but he had the mighty signs of the Holy Spirit: healing miracles and the casting out of demons, and he even woke up a dead boy. It is a full mix of these two factors, miracles and sufferings.

Among the sufferings, Paul had been ‘given’ a satanic angel who kept beating him, causing much pain. He prayed to the Lord if He could take this plaguing evil angel away, but was met with the answer from Jesus: My grace is sufficient for you Paul! (2 Cor. 12:7). It was the Lord’s method of keeping Paul in a mindset of humble and meek attitudes.

To this dark narrative with Paul in ministry, I shall have to point out one true Biblical fact: When we meet this word ‘Grace’ anywhere in the Acts period, it was used to describe God being graceful in certain situations. And we must understand that this – God being graceful and longsuffering in character – is one thing, BUT establishing an entirely NEW dispensation (Greek oikonomia) with GRACE as main factor for this dispensation, is a much more powerful arrangement towards us believers in Christ. Only Ephesians and Colossians has revelation of that Mystery, a new dispensation where GRACE is the main factor. In this dispensation it means that God will not judge at all! It is Grace all the way…up until we reach the super-heavens meeting Christ (Col. 3:1-4). Paul was the apostle used to establish this Grace era as we now have seen. See Eph. 3:1-3 in particular.

HERE ARE SOME SELECTED PASSAGES

REGARDING MIRACLES IN PAUL’S MINISTRY

1. Extraordinary Miracles and Healings (Acts 19:11-12)

God performed "unusual miracles" through Paul in Ephesus, where even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried to the sick. These items healed diseases and cast out evil spirits.

2. Raising the Dead (Acts 20:9-12)

In Troas, a young man named Eutychus fell asleep, fell from a third-story window during Paul’s long sermon, and was picked up dead. Paul went down, embraced him, and restored him to life.

3. Healing a Lame Man (Acts 14:8-10)

In Lystra, Paul saw a man crippled from birth who had faith. Paul commanded him, "Stand upright on your feet!" and the man jumped up and walked.

4. Casting Out Demons (Acts 16:18)

In Philippi, after being followed for days by a slave girl possessed by a spirit of divination, Paul commanded the spirit in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her, which it did immediately.

5. Striking Elymas Blind (Acts 13:8-11)

In Paphos, a sorcerer named Elymas tried to turn the proconsul away from the faith. Filled with the Holy Spirit, Paul declared that the hand of the Lord was against him, causing Elymas to be blind for a season.

6. Healing the Father of Publius (Acts 28:8-9)

While shipwrecked on Malta, Paul visited the father of Publius, who was sick with fever and dysentery. Paul prayed, laid hands on him, and healed him.

7. Surviving a Viper Bite (Acts 28:3-6)

After the shipwreck on Malta, a viper bit Paul, yet he felt no ill effects and suffered no swelling, leading the inhabitants to consider him a god.

8. The Vision of an Earthquake (Acts 16:25-26)

While Paul and Silas were imprisoned in Philippi, they were praying and singing hymns. At midnight, God sent an earthquake that shook the foundations, opened the prison doors, and loosed the chains of all the prisoners.

Summary of Apostolic Ministry

In 2 Corinthians 12:12, Paul mentions that "the signs of a true apostle were performed among you with utmost patience, with signs and wonders and mighty works," affirming these miracles were central to his ministry.

It seems as if miracles and signs were intertwined with dramatically and certain sufferings for Paul and his helpers. Had he not been jailed by persecutors at Philippi, we never would have read of the God initiated ‘earth quake’ opening the prison doors and so forth.

Had he not stranded at Malta as the ship went down, we never would have read of Paul surviving a deadly snake bite.

By writing this little booklet on Paul, I also make an untold ‘statement’ which is entirely true: namely that Paul was the ONLY apostle sent to us Gentiles. And he was also the final and ultimate apostle which God and Christ personally sent out in the world. In history we cannot find one single new apostle, to take that ministry further down the following centuries. When John and Paul and the other apostles died, in the first century, the world was…and still is (!) entirely void of any apostle of God. Neither are there any of the other ministry-gifts present in our time.

There simply is no inspired minister of God on earth in our time. We have to cling on to Paul’s church epistles, Ephesians and Colossians for correct guidance in our faith and practices.

PAUL’S SPECIAL HARDSHIPS AND

PERIL DURING ACTS

The Book of Acts records numerous persecutions of Paul, including stoning, imprisonment, beatings, and death threats, which occurred during his missionary journeys and ministry. He was arrested in Jerusalem, beaten in Philippi, and forced to flee cities like Iconium and Antioch due to conspiracies against him.

Key persecutions of Paul detailed in Acts:

  • Damascus (Acts 9:23-25): Jews plotted to kill him, forcing him to flee, lowered in a basket from the city wall.

  •

  • Jerusalem (Acts 9:29): Hellenists tried to kill him, causing him to flee to Caesarea.

  •

  • Antioch in Pisidia (Acts 13:50): He was persecuted and expelled from the region.

  •

  • Iconium (Acts 14:5-6): He faced a conspiracy to be stoned and had to flee.

  •

  • Lystra (Acts 14:19): Paul was stoned, dragged out of the city, and left for dead.

  •

  • Philippi (Acts 16:22-24): He was severely beaten with rods and imprisoned.

  •

  • Thessalonica & Berea (Acts 17:5-14): A mob attacked his lodging, and agitators followed him between cities.

  •

  • Corinth (Acts 18:12): Apprehended by Jews and taken before the judgment seat of Gallio.

  •

  • Ephesus (Acts 19:23-41): A riot by silversmiths created a major disturbance against him.

  •

  • Jerusalem (Acts 21:27-30): Mob violence resulted in his arrest, leading to prolonged imprisonment in Caesarea.

  • The dangerous sea voyage to Rome (Acts 27-28) Paul was sent as a religious diplomat to Rome, to give an ultimatum to the Sanhedrin Council there. It was the end station for Israel as a nation for God. They fell from God, and in 70 CE they were destroyed by Rome utterly.

I have a separate considerable article-series on that sea voyage and its implications, called “Paul’s Journey to Rome Was Entirely Piloted by the Lord”, which you can read on my site, section 13 and 14. Thus I will not go further in that topic in this booklet. IMAGE: An Egyptian-Roman vessel built for taking loads of grain, and even passengers. On the ships Paul travelled – they had capacity to take at least 276 passengers (Acts 27:37). Actually, the ship and the 276 people on board, were saved by God’s divine intervention – and Paul was told of it by an angelic vision. God simply HAD TO HAVE PAUL CONFRONTING SANHEDRIN AT ROME! The voyage as such, was an excellent demonstration of how Paul both was suffering hardships, and how he also experienced God’s divine protection and guidance through it all!

Paul faced consistent opposition, often described as accusations of disrupting the peace, creating riots, or leading a sect. And in addition to this, he went through innumerable hardships of all sorts…let me repeat his own description of this, 2 Cor.

 dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers on the sea, dangers among false brethren;

27 I have been in labor and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure.

All those things described above, was happening during Paul’s ministry to preach the Kingdom-Gospel (of the Kingdom of God on earth), called for the ‘Millennial Reign of Jesus’ in Christendom. See Dan. 2:44, Rev. 20:4. Also see Luke 1:32, 33.

It was Jews first, then Gentile (or Greek, as Paul used as term). Rom. 1:16.

I do recommend you the article on my site, written by Donnie S. Barnes, called simply “The Sufferings of Paul”. It is telling of absolutely all things regarding that topic. Paul was not a ‘dandy’ of a man, he was an outright super-hero…a man of true faith and faithful to God and Christ, and he gave up his life for the sake of his dear Master, Jesus Christ, and the Gospel message we now have in our possession!

I shall now introduce the great, great divinely initiated change in Biblical history, namely the establishing of the new Grace dispensation revealed in Ephesians and Colossians. This happened not long after the close of Acts, 62-63 CE. The two epistles where written in 63-67 CE it is held among scholars. Paul was at that time jailed for the second time. Some historians have said that this jailing may have been caused by the fire in Rome 64 CE – but they also admit that it has to remain theory.

PAUL IN POST-ACTS ERA

AFTER THE CLOSE OF ACTS 28:

PAUL WAS SENT AS A ‘PRISONER OF CHRIST

FOR US GENTILES’ (NATIONS) 63-67 CE.

This era have several major CHANGES to it compared to the era of Acts and Paul’s ministry to ‘Gentiles, kings and the sons of Israel’ (Acts 9:15).

In the fresh new Grace dispensation presented in Ephesians/Colossians he tells of being sent ONLY as a PRISONER for us Gentiles. Eph. 3:1-3.

This literally meant – no more plagues, persecutions, beatings and such were hitting against Paul. The evil, satanic angel, who pestered Paul earlier, is no longer to be found. The only suffering remaining, during the years of his work establishing that new dispensation/oikonomia, was the fact that he sat in jail behind bars – together with his co-prisoner Aristarchus. Thus of course, suffering the uncertainty of his forthcoming execution. Most scholars hold to the year 67 CE as when Paul was executed by Nero’s police officers. But Paul was fortunate to have at least 9 faithful partners in the faith, who brought his writings to the congregations in Asia Minor in those years. In Col. 4 he listed up these helpers.

In Colossians 4:7–15, Paul highlights several co-workers who supported his ministry during his imprisonment, specifically identifying Aristarchus, Mark, and Jesus (called Justus) as his only Jewish companions ("men of the circumcision") who were fellow workers for the kingdom of God. Others mentioned include Tychicus, Onesimus, Epaphras, Luke, Demas, Archippus (Nymphas, a woman who opened her house to have fellowship with the believers in town is mentioned also).

  • Tychicus (v. 7): A "beloved brother, faithful minister, and fellow servant" who delivered the letter to the Colossians.

  •

  • Onesimus (v. 9): Described as a faithful and beloved brother.

  •

  • Aristarchus (v. 10): A Macedonian from Thessalonica, referred to as Paul’s "fellow prisoner".

  •

  • Mark (v. 10): Cousin of Barnabas, who had reconciled with Paul.

  •

  • Jesus called Justus (v. 11): One of the Jewish believers aiding Paul.

  •

  • Epaphras (v. 12): A Colossian member who worked hard in prayer for the church.

  •

  • Luke (v. 14): Referred to as "the beloved physician".

  •

  • Archippus (v. 17)

Timothy is named in Col. 1 greetings.

These individuals brought comfort and support to Paul during his imprisonment. And some took the epistles from Paul and had them read to the assemblies in Ephesus, Colossae, Hierapolis and Laodicea. It is held for true and most probable that these writings were read several other places as well, in Asia Minor. His epistles were circular ones.

Strangely enough, Luke was not telling of Paul as if he – in this final prison situation 63-67 CE had any particular contact with the local believers in Rome! His attention seems to be on the assemblies in Asia Minor only. The Lord had indeed turned His back to Israel, and in 70 CE the Roman army crushed the nation and scattered them in the world. It is the greatest diaspora period of all times, and still lasting. The present ‘Israel’ is not a nation of God. To become such a nation, they have to receive Jesus as their Messiah. But this shall be accomplished when He comes from heaven right after a great 7 years of tribulation in Israel. The Seventy Year-Week prophesied in Daniel 9.

But notice: All of this work by Paul was OUTSIDE OF THE PROMISED LAND, ISRAEL.

There exists no genuine documentation that Paul’s Grace-Gospel as found in Ephesians and Colossians, ever were preached or taught inside Israel.

THE END OF ACTS IS THE END OF ISRAEL

Acts 28 tells of Paul confronting the Sanhedrin Council at Rome, but they would not repent (all of them) and come to faith in Jesus as the Messiah, thus he bid them farewell with pretty stern words, v. 28, even if some of them came to faith,

"Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen."

This was Paul’s farewell greeting to the disbelieving Jewish religious leaders at Rome, representing the nation of Israel in this narrative.

This was the end-station for Israel as a nation for God.

Jesus used Paul as a religious diplomat – by sending him specifically to encounter the Sanhedrin at Rome, just as he had stood before the Sanhedrin at Jerusalem in 58 CE. These are the words Jesus told Paul, as He revealed Himself to him, Acts 23:11, NASB,

“But on the night immediately following, the Lord stood at his side and said, "Take courage; for as you have solemnly witnessed to My cause at Jerusalem, so you must witness at Rome also."

It was of utmost importance to have Paul testify to the Council at Rome – because this was the final limit of His patience with the disobedient Israel. They had resisted His message of the Kingdom of God on earth for over thirty years, since Pentecost in Acts 2, and persecuted and killed His true servants…mostly His apostles (Jesus prophesied of this in Mat. 22:7). So this was the end of the line for Israel, unless the Council at Rome all repented. They did not. And consequently they were killed (Israel as a nation) due to the great rebellion in 66-70 CE. The 10th of September, 70 CE (a Sunday) – same date as when the Babylonian King destroyed Jerusalem in 586 BC – General Titus and his army crushed Jerusalem and burnt the temple, and according to Deut. 28:68 vast numbers of war prisoners were sent by ships to Egypt to be sold as slaves!

Deut. 28:68, NASB,

"The LORD will bring you back to Egypt in ships, by the way about which I spoke to you, 'You will never see it again!' And there you will offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but there will be no buyer."

Josephus, in his book work “The Jewish War”, testifies to this extreme action taken by Rome. Prisoners from the age of 17 were sent away to Alexandria including spouses, to be tried sold to the mines as slaves. But they had to give this project up since nobody was buying. It happened during 71-72 CE.

SINCE ISRAEL NOW WAS ENTIRELY OUT,

SO WAS THE LAW OF MOSES WITH ITS

COMMANDMENTS AND ORDINANCES

The extreme truth of Christ cancelling/abolishing the Law on the cross, but kept this fact hidden in the Acts era, made Him reveal to Paul an entirely fresh NEW dispensation, administration (Greek, oikonomia), and Paul wrote this, Eph. 3:1-3, NASB,

“1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles -

2 if indeed you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace which was given to me for you;

3 that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief.

You may scrutinize the entire Bible, but you will not find that any other of the apostles, including of course Peter, ever had such a revelation given them by Christ!

Only Paul was given this great news for us Gentiles. By faith we are now co-heirs with Christ to the heavenly blessings up above, as Paul further describes in both Ephesians and Colossians.

Paul introduced a new hope of salvation – not found in any other Scripture but Ephesians/Colossians: The epiouranos heaven – Greek for ‘Heaven up above the heavens. By some Bible expositors called for the ‘Super-Heavens’. In Strong’s Lexicon it is numbered G2032.

Col. 3:1-4 tells of the believers to be revealed with Christ up in the heavens,

“1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

Eph. 2:14, 15, NASB,

“14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,

15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,

Here Paul was looking back at the cross – as Jesus died, was buried and rose again – saying that it was at the cross the Law of Moses with its commandments and ordinances was abolished. It was nullified, made entirely out of effect…it was littered, cast away for never to appear again.

The Greek word, for such a move of Christ, is katargesas, or katargeó. In Strong’s lexicon it is numbered 2673. Other lexica use the meaning “to render completely inoperative”, and “To put out of use”, and Col. 2:14 has it translated from Greek:  Having cancelled out (the Law, called certificate of debt)..

“…having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

The Greek word is exaleipsas, numbered in Strongs 1813.

Paul’s use of a variable in Col. 2:14 is saying the very same as in Eph. 2:15. Both katargesas or katargeó, and exaleipsas tell of a nullification, a cancelling, a putting out of use, rendering it inoperative. In our modern day language 2026 – we might even say that the Law was littered, cast in the litter bin. It is a fact that the Law of Moses shall never be used again, it is gone forever. Isa. 2 tells of Christ establishing the millennial reign, and issuing a new Law as the Messiah King of Israel. The only ordinance from the Law which will be made operative again, is the Sabbath.

But we do see in Acts, by several passages, that the Messianic believers observed the Law, and they observed the New Covenant which was ‘laid on top of the Law’. Pentecost in Acts 2 was a feast day from the Law, and they observed it. Paul left Ephesus by ship, hoping to make it to Jerusalem to celebrate Pentecost (Acts 20:16) – and he succeeded this plan. Arriving Jerusalem he met with the leaders there – and due to some untrue rumors….that Paul had worked against the Law, James persuaded him to go and take the Nazirite, an ordinance of seven days fasting, Acts 21:20-24, NASB, - we also learn that the Jews there observed the Law (58 CE) and were zealous for the Law,

 “20 And when they heard it they began glorifying God; and they said to him, "You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law;

21 and they have been told about you, that you are teaching all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs.

22 "What, then, is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come.

23 "Therefore do this that we tell you. We have four men who are under * a vow;

24 take them and purify yourself along with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads; and all will know that there is nothing to the things which they have been told about you, but that you yourself also walk orderly, keeping the Law.”

In spite of Jesus having already cancelled the Law, abolished the Law, at His death on the cross back in 28 CE, we find that the Law was still being observed by Messianic Jews at Jerusalem and Judea 30 years later!

How come?

Because this Biblical truth, the abolishing of the Law, was kept hidden to Israel and the Jews, as Christ was testing them….whether they would repent and believe on Him.

But they turned Him away, as Paul had a final encounter with their religious leaders at Rome, Acts 28:25-28. And from that moment in time, spring 60 CE at Rome, God turned away from them and quit entirely to address them and revealing Himself to them in any way. They had fallen from God as a nation! Acts 28:28 tells of the Gospel now having been sent to the GENTILES.

This action is the background for God revealing the Mystery to Paul, that Gentiles by faith now are to be considered as heirs with Christ in heavenly salvation. Eph. 3:1-9 is the declaration of this new revelation, which caused God to establish this present dispensation/oikonomia of the Grace of God, to the entire world.

PAUL – KEY PERSON TO CHRIST’S CHANGING

OF THE GOSPEL MESSAGE

After the casting away of the Law of Moses as well as the fall of Israel, we find that all things pertaining to the previous narrative with the preaching of the Kingdom of God on earth, offered to Israel, was never again held forth by Paul or any other apostle for that matter.

Paul CHANGED IT ALL, and a vast number of ordinances and concerns regarding their national Kingdom-hope, now were entirely extinct…we cannot find any of these things from Paul’s teaching Post-Acts, and his two only epistles to the Church, the Mystery body, called for ‘One new Man’.

The miracle signs and healings are gone. As is the teaching on the Second Advent, the Anti-Christ to come, all kinds of eschatology, and on the so-called rapture (up in clouds). Holy Communion is never mentioned – since His Second Advent is no concern of the Church. The five so-called ministry gifts, apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists and elders/pastors are gone. Water baptism is gone, as well as ‘baptism’ in the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. Acts proves that only the apostles were authorized to baptize believers in water, and never do we find any regular church-member doing this; and only these servants of Christ in the first century, was authorized to lay hands on people so the Holy Spirit could come upon them. We never find any regular church-member doing this laying-on-of-hands. PAUL CHANGED IT ALL. And he demonstrated this change by not mentioning these former and cancelled ordinances and gifts. And not to forget: there is no teaching of having to ‘Make confession of sins’ (like James 2:14-18, etcetera) in order to obtain salvation, and of course there neither is any ordinance of works to accompany our faith (like James 5:14-16).

Paul’s teachings in Ephesians and Colossians are entirely REPLACING all previous teachings….Paul gave us the ONLY valid doctrine of faith. None of the twelve apostles has any word to offer to the church. They ministered only to Israel in their time. The four Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are out. There is no teaching to the church dispensation in these historic writings.

If these things are not found in Paul’s two only church epistles, then this is because it is of no concern to the church.

We are not supposed to look for Jesus to come down from heaven; instead we are looking upward to Him in the heavens, with our hope of salvation which do include us being transferred into heaven to be revealed with Christ – as I quoted from Col. 3:1-4.

This particular narrative is one which I have mentioned in most of my latest articles. Paul is our teacher and apostle, and Jesus sent him to have us grasp that marvelous hope of the heavenly calling.

Eph. 4:30, NASB, says a lot regarding us coming up to Him, and not Him coming down to us,

“Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

The day of redemption is not Jesus coming from heaven. It is the church being transferred into the heavens where Christ is at His Father’s right hand. At that particular future day, He shall conclude the Church dispensation, and He shall then, shortly after, turn to Israel and through the prophesied ‘Great Tribulation’ (Mat. 24:21, 22) use 7 years to purge and make Israel ready to welcome Him from heaven to establish the Millennial Kingdom ruling from Zion. He sends down Moses and Elijah to administer/prophesy the many scary judgment plagues as seen in Rev. 6 and on. These two prophets will start the Great Tribulation, Rev. 11.

Here, to round it off, I’d like to quote Paul, as he related his hardships and sufferings to the sufferings of Jesus, Col. 1:24 – by using the AI-generated explanation from the internet,

Paul expresses joy in his sufferings for the church, stating he "fills up in his flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions." This does not mean Christ's redemptive work was insufficient, but rather that Paul is extending the benefits of Christ’s suffering—producing and building up the Church—through his own hardships.

Key Aspects of Paul's Suffering in Colossians:

  • Purpose of Suffering: Paul’s pain is not meaningless; it is "for the sake of his body, which is the church".

  •

  • "What is Lacking": The "lack" refers to the continued application of Christ's suffering to the world, which Paul accomplishes through his ministry and persecution. It represents the ongoing, daily trials required to bring the gospel to the church, rather than a deficiency in the crucifixion itself.

  •

  • Joy in Suffering: Paul finds purpose and joy in these sufferings because they contribute to the growth of believers.

  •

  • Connection to Christ: By enduring these trials, Paul is sharing in Christ’s own suffering for the church, strengthening his identification with Him.

Essentially, Paul views his ministerial suffering as a continuation of the same sacrificial love that Christ showed, bringing the gospel and its benefits directly to the church.”

Thus we can say that Jesus suffered on the cross – firstly for Israel, as He is likened with the sacrificial Lamb causing the angel-of-death to pass every house in Egypt where the blood was applied onto the door ways. This is why it is called the Passover in the Law.

Thus again, the messenger who was sent to us Gentiles, Paul the Apostle, likewise had to suffer as well. Not to become a sacrifice for sin, but to become the solution for the sin among us Gentiles. This call for utmost awe and respect towards Paul, as he actually (as he says) suffered so we could receive the Gospel of salvation by faith in Christ.

Indeed, Paul’s ministry was dramatic in every way!

Yes – I am well aware of that this little booklet contains quite a lot of repetitive issues, mentioned often in my many articles on this site. But such repetition is a healthy thing; it keeps us spiritually awake and may be strengthening our faith in Jesus Christ.

I urge you all to be steadfast in your faith in Jesus Christ. Keep looking up – for our day of redemption will arrive soon, I believe.

APRIL 2026.
