In this Part III of my article series on Revelation 21, we shall have a closer look at one of the phenomena mentioned in Rev. 21, already in verse 1.
I ended Part II by adding some End-notes from lexica with Greek side remarks.
It says among other things that there shall be NO MORE SEA…on that ‘New’ earth. From NASB,
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.”
THE ‘CASE’ OF THE MEDITERRANEAN’S DISAPPEARING
How is the Mediterranean influenced by the vast disasters shown in Rev. 6 and on, not the least Rev. 8 with the several asteroids falling from the sky?
If you have read my article on such phenomena as ‘Pole Shifts’ – you will have learned that God in His might is able to make the Poles shift by hitting earth with huge asteroids!
But in Rev. 21 telling of no more sea on the new earth, we must take into consideration what will happen to the Med regarding the ‘Great Tribulation’ described in Rev. 6 and on…the Seven Seals, the Seven Trumpets and the Seven Bowls of Wrath. These contain enormous disasters hitting earth in Israel as well as in the Med Sea.
These - to my opinion – have everything to do with what is said in Rev. 21:1 of no more sea…for we find a big asteroid hitting the Med in Rev. 8:8, 9, NASB, as the second angel blows his trumpet,
“8 The second angel sounded, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea; and a third of the sea became blood,
9 and a third of the creatures which were in the sea and had life, died; and a third of the ships were destroyed.”
I wrote an article on that well known (NASA is keeping close watch of this, check out their web site) asteroid passing very close to the earth, Apophis. It has the length of about 345 meters, and if it hits down in the Eastern Med it will explode with the power of near 100 Megaton TNT. Some scientists say 300 Megatons. Creating very devastating tsunamis which will hit Haifa and Tel Aviv, maybe as tall as 60-70 meters! It will cause collateral damages to both the North shores and South shores of the Med, meaning it may destroy Antalya and other tourist resorts in Turkey, and likewise with Alexandria in Egypt. Crete and Cyprus will of course be devastated, no doubt. See image here of my theoretical site of the splashdown.
Now we can better understand what Jesus spoke of, saying that people will be taken with fear and despair in mad panic, as they try to take cover from these coming disasters, Luke 21:25, 26, NASB,
“25 "There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves,
26 men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.”
The reason for people in Israel taken with panic and fear is because the two prophets in Rev. 11 are prophesying these disasters – letting the people know what is coming upon them! People get an expectation of the disasters which comes upon them. They shall prophesy for 1260 days it says, which is three and a half Jewish years.
And: Such a mega-hit on earth will cause a severe Pole Shift!
But also, needless to say, it will alter the seafloor in the Med greatly, and probably start a series of utmost changes in the whole structure of this ocean. It is the starting-process made by God, to have the seafloor in the Med RISE and thus ‘pushing’ its body of saltwater out into the Atlantic. The Polar Shift caused by the asteroids during the Great Tribulation will make the North Pole shift towards West, away from Greenland and Iceland and Northern Norway…..and thus we can safely say that God’s process in making a ‘restored/refurbished New earth has started. It may even take most of the millennial Kingdom time in Israel to have the Med emptied of water. It has to be made slowly, so to spare lives.
This is my private theory on what will take place in this regard. I shall come back to this matter if I discover new elements of interest in Scripture.
One of the reasons for wanting to ‘empty’ the Mediterranean may be that it will have its waters turn into BLOOD, Rev. 8:8. How can one get rid of this, other than using the method of emptying the ocean? It is obvious that this blood-effect is not forever. It will have to be flushed out somehow.
And on top of that: One third of the ships shall sink, and one third of the creature in the sea died. That means a whole lot of wreckage and dead fish and animal bodies lying there…polluting the ocean severely. So, God in His wisdom finds a way to empty the place and get rid of all this waste. Just my personal opinion, but who knows?
In addition to that one asteroid falling into the Med, there are more to happen. Rev. 8:10-12, NASB, an asteroid with poisons of Wormwood,
«10 The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of waters.
11 The name of the star is called Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.”
And when the third angel blows his trumpet, I believe that we are told of the collateral damages following the strike of the asteroids, verse 12,
“12 The fourth angel sounded, and a third of the sun and a third of the moon and a third of the stars were struck, so that a third of them would be darkened and the day would not shine for a third of it, and the night in the same way.”
The smoke and steams and debris from the fallen big asteroids cause the sun to be blurred, losing much light – it says one third of it. It could remind us of what science has said of an eventual nuke-war: It could create an ‘Atomic Winter’. If a third of light is gone, then we must expect temperatures to get lower.
If such tendencies arrives, then it might be corrected – since Rev. 16 prophecy of a strong heat-wave causing people to be suffering under the sun’s extreme heat, Rev. 16:8-12, NASB,
“8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to scorch men with fire.
9 Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory.
10 Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became darkened; and they gnawed their tongues because of pain,
11 and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; and they did not repent of their deeds.
12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river, the Euphrates; and its water was dried up, so that the way would be prepared for the kings from the east *. “
All of these plagues and disasters will most probably happen due to several serious Pole Shifts!
Performed by God by using asteroids. The Pole shifts comes quickly and changes the earth’s angle with the sun, and EXTREME HEAT is cast upon the land of Israel so people go blaspheming God for this plague, verse 11. They are reprobates and mad at God…blinded by hate and disbelief. They go down in flames, as they keep on cursing.
Verse 12, with the sixth angel with a bowl… on Euphrates river drying up, is also a result of these Pole shifts – combined with the extreme heat-wave happening.
Great changes in the Mediterranean, and not the least, upon the land of Israel and its closest neighbors.
And yet, NONE OF THESE HAPPENINGS is concerning the Church. We will be long gone before the Great Tribulation arrives.
REV. 21:1 FALLS NICELY IN WITH REV. 16:17-21
I opened this Part III with Rev. 21:1 and the NEW earth and NEW heavens – as they are restored/refurbished/changed.
And Rev. 16:17-21, NASB, confirms this, in that God let islands disappear, mountain peaks leveling, and all of these enormous changes on the land near Mediterranean and the islands, comes from God performing great Pole Shifts as meteors and asteroids hits the earth and the sea, - quote,
“17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying, "It is done."
18 And there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since * man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty.
19 The great city (Jerusalem, my adding) was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the great was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of His fierce wrath.
20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
21 And huge hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, came down from heaven upon men; and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because its plague was extremely severe.”
The hail-stones are the same thing which happened to the Amorite-army which Joshua killed on the ‘Prolonged Day’ in 1398 BC, told in Jos. 10:12, 13 when stones from heaven killed that big army of enemies. And these stones caused the earth to have Pole Shift making the effect of the sun stand still at High Noon for 10-12 hours!
The stones in Rev. 16 seem to be a repetition of the same effects.
Such stones fall and become glowing ‘bombs’ which destroys everything they hit. It hits as explosions. They are as small deadly meteors.
Now, all of these frightful plagues with asteroids, meteors and hail-stones (not of ice) falling from the sky, plus earthquakes of huge dimensions, sudden changes in the solar system – it all IS AIMED AT WHAT GOD WILL MAKE AFTER THE MILLENNIA: A ‘New’ earth and a ‘New’ heaven, to receive that New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. He combines the Great Tribulation with what shall come after the Millennia, so that it starts the process of making the earth new, in quality (Greek Kainos).
God has it all in full control, every little thing in detail. His creative power will be controlling the whole process described in Revelation. We can be sure of that.
