THE TWELVE STAR CONSTELLATIONS:

ALL ARE POINTING TO THE

BIRTH, LIFE, DEATH AND

RESURRECTION OF CHRIST

JAN LILLEBY

I have already published two articles on my web site – in which I focused on the constellation of the VIRGO (Virgin) – because this sign in the stellar heavens foretold of the birth of Jesus Christ.

In this article I shall go through all twelve monthly constellations, but using only short explanations, concentrating it to the most important meaning to each of them. This is not a book, but just an article!

What is a star constellation?

They are defined as groups of stars which are forming a recognizable pattern, as one stretch lines between them and thus connecting them together. Pardon the long sentence.

What is the purpose of these, seen from God’s side?

Psalm 19:1, 2 and Heb. 1:3 are clear on this: its for mankind to be made aware of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour,

The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.

Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge.

“And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,”

The stellar heavens are much like a huge canvas over which the messages of God, telling of His salvation, rolls constantly, on and on. All peoples on earth can read these stellar signs – and, of course also the Bible.

THE TWELVE CONSTELLATIONS

Aries

   Taurus

   Gemini

  Cancer

   Leo

   Virgo

  Libra

  Scorpio

  Sagittarius

  Capricorn

  Aquarius

  Pisces

However, there exist a thirteenth constellation in the zodiac (circle) and this is called for Ophiuchus. But the twelve (monthly ones) will do as for explaining in relation to the Bible. In Biblical meaning, the constellation is an eagle destroying a serpent….Christ ending the life of Satan. Revelation Book goes in details on that action from God in chapter 20:7-15. Satan is going to be entirely taken down and no longer be in existence!

ARIES CONSTELLATION

This sign in astronomy is depicting the sacrificial Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. Aries is Greek for ram…or in this case, a lamb. John the Baptist declared aloud when Jesus came to be baptized, Behold! The Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29, 30.

This star constellation appears in the heavens during March and April – which is the time of year when we find the holy feasts of Passover and Unleavened Bread. Jesus died for our sins while the Aries-sign stood on the night sky!

What says the Psalm 19:1, 2..?  NASB,

1  The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.

2  Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge.

And what exactly is ‘the glory of God’?

Hebr. 1:1-3, NASB,

1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,

2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.

3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

JESUS is the Glory of God in this context!

TAURUS CONSTELLATION

Taurus is made up mainly by the Pleiades, the seven stars mentioned as early in history as in Job 38:31-33, NASB, - the Lord questioning back to Job, who complained of his sufferings,

31 "Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades, Or loose the cords of Orion?

32 "Can you lead forth a constellation in its season, And guide the Bear with her satellites?

33 "Do you know the ordinances of the heavens, Or fix their rule over the earth?”

This sign is pointing to Jesus as the coming judge on earth.

Taurus is a figure of an ox or bull as we see here. It contains the star Pleiades, a cluster of seven stars, which in Hebrew is Succoth, meaning the Feast of Tabernacles. According to Chronicles, 70 bulls were sacrificed at the Feast of Tabernacles. The Feast of Tabernacles is symbolic of the Age of Tabernacles, in which Christ will come again and rule for 1,000 years.

GEMINI CONSTELLATION

Often just called ‘The Twin Brothers’ in many cultures, and the sign depicts Jesus’ dual personality/status: Jesus as a man, and Jesus as the Lord God. And it also points to Jesus’ first and second advent.

At the end of three months we set sail on an Alexandrian ship which had wintered at the island, and which had the Twin Brothers for its figurehead.

Quoting Acts 28:11 on Paul going from Malta onboard an Alexandrian (Egyptian) ship after having stayed there, rescued from a winter storm. He was sent there to bear witness of Jesus before the Emperor and the Jewish Sanhedrin in Rome.

Jesus, in His foreknowledge of all things, had seen to it that this ship had His signature, the Gemini star sign…which depicts Jesus as both man and God!  Paul must have been encouraged seeing this name on the figurehead! Paul was a learned man, and surely he was aware of the signs of heaven, if not an astronomer by profession.

CANCER CONSTELLATION

This constellation is mainly a sign regarding the Second Advent. This sign is found 577 Light Years from the earth. Far out in the universe among Galaxies. It is seen on the sky during the spring in the Northern Hemisphere and fall in the Southern Hemisphere. The best time to see the constellation is at about 9:00 in the evening in mid-March. However, Cancer is the faintest constellation in the zodiac so it is difficult to see. I personally hold to the Second Advent to arrive in the Passover time – for Jesus told them that they should no longer see Him, until they declared, ‘blessed be He who comes in the name of the Lord’  – which is part of Psalm 118. The Psalm is sung in Jewry every Passover! And now we know that the sign of His coming is best visible on the sky in mid-March. Thus it is probable that His coming will take place in a year which has the Passover early rather than late.

LEO CONSTELLATION

Thus it is very logical that the next constellation is Leo: depicting Jesus as the King of kings and Lord of lords.

This sign is therefore also seen in the spring time, near Passover feast. The sign includes many Galaxies.

Can this constellation be made very much brighter the week or day He shall come to earth? Well, even if this may be just a speculation, Jesus said something about it, Mat. 24:29, 30, NASB,

29 "But immediately after the tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

30 "And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory.

The Leo constellation may be the most royally connected star sign of them all, and so Jesus was pointing to this sign. It remains to be seen though. Many Christians think that the ‘sign of the Son of Man’ may perhaps be a cross. But knowing that God from the creation of the universe put ALL stars and signs in place in ONE singular blazing moment, there is much probability that the sign is Leo. Notice that there is a darkening of the Sun: this means that stars which are seen, will turn out to be much brighter due to the darkened Sun! And even stars will fall from the sky. Can God actually remove some stars, to give better visibility for the LEO constellation to be seen?

VIRGO CONSTELLATION

This is already taught in my two first articles, and you can read them. It’s all about the birth of Jesus Christ in 9-11-3 BC. As the sign of this Virgin had the Sun on the mid-body and her feet touching the crescent moon…the birth took place in the evening at around 19.26. This position of Virgo repeated itself in 2017 – and many ministers and pastors think maybe this is a reminder of the Second Advent soon to take place.

LIBRA CONSTELLATION

This star sign is well known in the world of justice and courts of Law: The two weights/scales often used as symbols for justice. Lawyers use this sign often in their logo and company name.

In Biblical terms the sign is depicting God’s justice and mercy. The weight of sin has not just one scale, it has a counter-weight: Jesus by His sacrifice on the cross brought the scales into our favor, from the moment we came to faith in Him! He weighed up for all our sins, and God will not and cannot punish any believer in Christ!

SCORPIO CONSTELLATION

This sign tells of God’s battle against Satan, the serpent. In classical images the sign is drawn as a scorpion, with Christ being stung in His right foot, as He crushes the head of the venomous critter with His left foot. And He has captured the serpent by His hands. This classic drawing tells the story of Christ’s victory on the cross.

Col. 2:13-17, NASB,

“13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

15 When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

16 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-

17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.”

SAGITTARIUS CONSTELLATION

This constellation depicts The Archer on the White Horse (the Centaur in classic imagery). In Biblical terms, the archer is a striking symbol of strength, precision, and divine judgment. This image draws our attention to the victorious Christ, the one who rides forth to conquer evil and establish righteousness.

It thus warns of the frightful Second Advent of Christ, as the judge punishing evil. A web site says the following of this Archer,

Sagittarius points his arrow at Scorpius. The tail of Scorpius
reaches into the Milky Way – as if to gather angels and fling
them to the Earth. Beneath the tail of Scorpius is the
upside-down flaming altar, Ara – whose flames point down
to the nether parts of the sky – the place of judgment
where Scorpius is doomed to reside.”

We remember from Scorpio above, that this is Satan, the enemy of God and Christ. And the Archer shoots Scorpio down into oblivion.

CAPRICORN CONSTELLATION

In this sign, we find the depiction of the life, death and resurrection of Christ. In classic imagery it is drawn as a fish-ram paired together.

Capricorn: The Dying Goat and the Rising Fish. The goat represents sacrifice, a theme deeply embedded in the biblical narrative. Meanwhile, the fish symbolizes life, abundance, and resurrection. Together, they tell the story of a sacrificial death that leads to the birth of new life — a powerful depiction of the gospel.

The classical drawing shows a goat with a fish tail. Here the goat can be liked with the scape-goat in biblical imagery and scripture. The scapegoat was sent out into the dessert to die, carrying all sin, quote,

Leviticus 16:10, and 15, 21,

The other goat, the scapegoat chosen by lot to be sent away, will be kept alive, standing before the LORD. When it is sent away to Azazel in the wilderness, the people will be purified and made right with the LORD.

AQUARIUS CONSTELLATION

This sign depicts Jesus as the one who gives living water. John 4:14, NASB,

“…but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never * thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life."

His words spoken to the Samaritan woman at the well.

Many Christians are aware of this sign: it was used in the song texts in the musical “HAIR (I corrected this from ‘Jesus Christ Superstar) – as we recall a line being sung… the dawning of the Age of Aquarius….using astrology and not astronomy, mind you, it goes,

“When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius
Aquarius! Aquarius!”

The writers were James Rado and Gerome Ragni, back in 1967. It became an enormous success and was set up in most big cities all around the world. As well as on film in that great big Hollywood style.

And right along with the Hippie Movement as it emerged in San Francisco. Hair was leaning on the New Age Movement mostly.

PISCES CONSTELLATION

This sign consists of two fishes, and symbolize food, like, being fed by Christ.

Britannica Encyclopedia says, - The age of Christ was the age of Pisces which is symbolized as fish - so much symbolism there. Some apostles were fishermen, the feeding of the multitude, the ichthys fish, etc.

The total number of constellations is 48; I have only dealt with twelve of them. But God made them all, and each one for its designated purpose – to show forth the salvation plan and power of God in Christ.

I hope this listing of star signs is of encouraging to you! It is but a part of God’s great creation.

Notice though – that the Church, the Body of Christ, also called ‘the one new man’ by Paul, are not symbolized anywhere on the stellar sky! It was a Mystery, a secret hidden in God, Eph. 3:1-9. Only Paul was given revelation of this secret – and in Col. 3:1-4, we find Paul writing that we, as believers in Christ, are …dead, and you are hidden with Christ in God. But when Christ is revealed we shall be revealed with Him in glory. Thus we do not find that Paul in any way taught the topic of star signs and such. Simply because this is not so important to the Church. We are going to be taken into the heaven where Christ resides at His Father’s right hand in glory and might.
