First They Serve You False

MIRACLE PROMISES

And Then They Make You

Their ‘Book Slave’ by Writing of

How to Get Those MIRACLES You

First Was Promised, as These

MIRACLES did not Appear!

JAN LILLEBY

There are hundreds – if not thousands of titles out there on ‘How to get your miracle’ or ‘How to release God’s abundant power’ – and endless ‘How-to’s’ in just about every possible Christian spiritual issue. Written by false calculating ‘Prophetic Ministers’, pastors and TV-Healers.

Many of whom are presented in TV programs like for instance Sid Roth’s – Its Supernatural. Also this list of diverse ‘prophetic’ programs seems endless.

It is much the same business smartness as found in everyday sales techniques: ONE: They first make a sales. Say, it’s a Laptop.  TWO:  Then you are followed up by the seller with extra products so you can achieve a much more glorious day at the Laptop….better program ware, bigger/better battery, better charger unit, better this, better that. A more luxurious this, and more comfortable that…

Or even a more effective way of making money:  ONE: They sell you a printer at a cheap price.  TWO: Then starts an endless dependency of having new color-cartridges as you use up colors when printing. Actually your cheapest buy may be the printer…for every time you buy a new set of color cartridges, such a set cost more than the printer when you bought it! Yours truly has a printer which uses 6 cartridges. Living in Norway, I recently bought a new set, and paid Nkr 1990,-  which equals $ 200! This, by the way, is same sum of money I paid when I bought the printer three years ago. See the trick? It was the second time I had to get fresh cartridges. When I bought the first set  I paid $ 140….

Key word:  AFTERMARKET.

These ‘Prophetic Ministries’ telling you that God wants to bless you and make it so that everything you pray for is given to you, - they know that God does not give this to you. Ever. They are just lying to your face, with a slick smile, so they can hook you up as their ‘Book Slave’ or having you buy endless DVD-series  on ‘HOW TO GET YOUR MIRACLE’.

I picked just one example from out of the ‘prophetic’ book market, titled ‘Prophetic Break Trough’. It’s a more carefully constructed title than pointing directly to the word miracle.

Written by a couple named Hakeem & Naim Collins, and was advertised on one of the programs of Sid Roth a few years back.

Guys like these make merchandise out of gullible Christian believers, not only in the USA, but world-wide.

The title seems to point to that many are not getting what they pray for. Thus they need A PROPHETIC BREAK THROUGH.

And …voilla! ….salvation is nigh, the new fantastic book from this or that ‘prophetic Ministry’ will show you how to obtain these blessings which never came your way.

This kind of false ministries fall under what Paul so clearly refuted:  Own works or efforts to grasp God’s blessings. Paul warned against this,  Eph. 2:8, 9, AMP,

«8For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God;

9not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].

(Editor’s emphasize).

These impostors claiming to operate with prophetic gifts/power, make gullible ignorant Christians their faithful slaves, so they come again and again to get the latest book on ‘How to…’.  These impostors can smile as they go down Main Street to their bank.

You can jump off that false slavery right now!  If you are a Christian believer, our apostle Paul has long time ago made plain to us that we are ALREADY given a break through, - it came in the same instance that you took faith in Jesus Christ. Like I quoted from Eph. 2:8, 9.

You are even ‘Hidden with Christ in God’ – up in the highest heaven – and already given ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS in heaven,  Eph. 1:3, 4,

Blessed and worthy of praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ,

4just as [in His love] He chose us in Christ [actually selected us for Himself as His own] before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy [that is, consecrated, set apart for Him, purpose-driven] and blameless in His sight. In love.”

Christ also, in the very same instance you became a believer, sealed you with The Holy Spirit…a seal to stay in you until you are physically present up in heaven with Him, Eph. 4:30,

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [but seek to please Him], by whom you were sealed and marked [branded as God’s own] for the day of redemption [the final deliverance from the consequences of sin]”.

Notice that Paul in his two epistles to the Church dispensation, never points to any miracles, healings, tongues, casting out of demons, prophecy and the like. These sign-gifts worked only for the apostolic assemblies while the apostles were among them, as well as the Law of Moses still was in effect – together with the New Covenant to Israel. (Rom. 3:31; Acts 21:20).

But after the littering of the Law and ordinances (Eph. 2:14, 15; Col. 2:13-17) we cannot find neither prophecy nor miracles and healings, in Scripture. Such things were called off finally since Acts 28 ended.  The Church is a post-Acts body, by Paul called ‘One new Man’ since Christ let the Law be crucified with Him. This truth was hidden during Acts, but revealed to Paul post-Acts.

Eph. 3:1-3,

For this reason [because I preach that you and believing Jews are joint heirs] I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles—

2assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was entrusted to me [to share with you] for your benefit;

3and that by [divine] revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I have already written in brief.

Dear fellow Christian believer: You will never have that ‘Prophetic Break Through’ – or ‘The Miracle you need for your situation’.

Why?

Because, - you have already been given ALL THINGS IN CHRIST.  What you need to do is to refresh your memory on things you have read in Ephesians and Colossians. That is our description of what God has done for us in Christ, plus what He shall be doing for us in the future! Our calling is heavenly, not earthly.

You no longer need any ‘smart-book’ to tell you how to be blessed by God!

PAUL’S FREE GRACE GOSPEL:

REPROVING ALL DENOMINATIONS WHICH

CARRIES ON WITH HERETIC ORDINANCES!

JAN LILLEBY

These ordinance based heresies are found in just about every denomination of our time. Yes, I am aware of that I already have written other articles in this topic…but never the less. Let’s have yet one more look at this.

A jungle of ceremonies and ordinances, which Christianity holds as Biblical, are practiced. You find this going on among Lutherans, Catholics, Methodists, Baptists, Pentecostals and Charismatics, Adventists…you name it. Even inside such sects and cults as Jehovah’s Witnesses (Watchtower Society) and Mormons (Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints) and others which are not even considered as Christian denominations.

No matter what their Bible teaching might sound like, they all have in common that they practices a lot of ordinances, in the false belief that these goes along for them to get saved. You must be baptized, you must share with the Holy Communion, you must confess of sins, you must tithe, - and Adventists: You must keep Sabbath, you must keep food ordinances, you must this and you must that. All of which Paul said were just shadows of things to come. But now Christ has come…and that out rules all the earlier ordinances plus the Law of Moses.  We have the free Grace Gospel.

IN APOSTOLIC TIMES ORDINANCES WAS IN ORDER

Ordinances and the keeping of the Law of Moses was in full effect in the days of the apostles, as told us in Acts and in epistles written in the time described in Acts (28-62 CE). The New Covenant to Israel was laid on top of the Law.

The Messianic believers in Christ at that time followed the ordinances of water baptism, Holy Communion, confession of sins, baptism with the Holy Spirit, the laying on of hands for healing miracles and other signs (the nine sign gifts of 1 Cor. 12-14), the keeping of the Holy Feast days including Sabbath, keeping of ordinances regarding food and drink.

Things that Paul told the believers after the closing of the Book of Acts, were no longer in effect. Those ordinances were ended, for they were just a foreshadow of the things to come, but the Body belongs to Christ.

Col. 2:13-16,  AMP Bible net version,

“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (worldliness, manner of life), God made you alive together with Christ, having [freely] forgiven us all our sins,

14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of legal demands [which were in force] against us and which were hostile to us. And this certificate He has set aside and completely removed by nailing it to the cross.

15When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities [those supernatural forces of evil operating against us], He made a public example of them [exhibiting them as captives in His triumphal procession], having triumphed over them through the cross.

16Therefore let no one judge you in regard to food and drink or in regard to [the observance of] a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day.

17Such things are only a shadow of what is to come and they have only symbolic value; but the substance [the reality of what is foreshadowed] belongs to Christ”.

It is also clear that water baptism was ended by the revelation given to Paul. He deals with it in Eph. 4, 5 – saying there is  ‘one baptism’.

This remains to be that one baptism mentioned also in Col. 2:11, 12  -

In Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but by the [spiritual] circumcision of Christ in the stripping off of the body of the flesh [the sinful carnal nature],

12having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him [to a new life] through [your] faith in the working of God, [as displayed] when He raised Christ from the dead.

Paul explains that the ‘one baptism’ is the one regarding the death of Christ. Jesus called His forthcoming death on the cross for a baptism. So, since there are no other baptisms mentioned by Paul as effective for us, we find that baptism into the death of Christ, which (likened with circumcision) is not done with human hands, but by God. We are all baptized in the very same instance we come to faith in Christ. God is the one who baptizes us. We are buried and also raised with Him in baptism into Christ’s death.

The Acts-body of Messianic believers was baptized into the very same death of Christ, but in addition to that they had to be baptized in water. They had two baptisms, but we have only one baptism, that which is done by God and no water rite involved.

PAUL’S TWO CHURCH EPISTLES IS GOD’S

FINAL WORD TO HUMANKIND

Paul’s post-Acts epistles, Ephesians and Colossians, are to be considered the final revelation given by Christ ever.

Eph. 3:3-5 leaves us no doubt of Paul as one who was the recipient of God’s revelation,

“and that by [divine] revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I have already written in brief.

4By referring to this, when you read it you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,

5which in other generations was not disclosed to mankind, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets by the [Holy] Spirit”.

Paul was the sole recipient on behalf of us Gentiles, since now Israel had been given up by God for her grave sin of rejecting Jesus and even having killed His messengers (Mat. 22:7). Israel fell from God as described in Acts 28:25-28. Paul’s revelation of the Mystery explained in Ephesians and Colossians, is a Christ given doctrinal revelation which dismisses all previous Bible doctrine in the New Testament. Paul’s two Church epistles are the final words and teachings of God and Christ, and can only be overruled when Christ arrives from heaven to establish His Millennial Kingdom in Israel. Isa. 2 tells of Christ establishing a new Law from out of Zion.

But as for now, Paul’s two epistles rules what concerns salvation doctrine in the dispensation of the Church, the Mystery body, the Body of Christ.

Paul’s Gospel teaching in Ephesians and Colossians – by revelation given to him by Christ, ‘kills’ all previous teachings found with the apostles during Acts period.

In Bible history, please note the clear fact of a total absence of opposing writings which goes up against Paul!  It is nowhere to be found. Paul’s teachings stands untouched and shining.

Col. 2:16 –

“Therefore let no one judge you in regard to food and drink or in regard to the observance of a festival or a new-moon or a Sabbath day.”

Why so?

Paul already gave the reason for this in verse 14: Christ had blotted out the Law of Moses as this ‘certificate of debt’ died with Christ on the cross.  ONLY: But it was kept hidden/secret until Christ revealed it to Paul. It is clearly evident that all Messianic believers in Acts period lived according to the Law, like Paul told in Rom. 3:31,

Do we then nullify the Law by this faith [making the Law of no effect, overthrowing it]? Certainly not! On the contrary, we confirm and establish and uphold the Law [since it convicts us all of sin, pointing to the need for salvation].

Written by Paul in Ephesus 57 CE.

And arriving Jerusalem for Pentecost (Paul, keeping an ordinance) in 58 CE, we learn that the whole big congregation of Messianic believers in Jerusalem kept the Law of Moses, Acts 21:17-20,  AMP Bible net version,

When we arrived in Jerusalem, the brothers and sisters welcomed us gladly.

18On the next day Paul went with us to [see] James, and all the elders of the church were present.

19After greeting them, Paul began to give a detailed account of the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.

20And when they heard it, they began glorifying and praising God; and they said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands of believers there are among the Jews, and they are all enthusiastic supporters of the Law [of Moses].    (Editor’s emphasize)

But as we come to Paul’s revelatory two Church epistles, Ephesians and Colossians, written 63-64 CE from his jail cell in Rome, all of these things – all ordinances were taken away, forever!  The entire Law of Moses was cast into the litter bin. Christ killed it at the cross….but held back that important information because He wanted first to test Israel whether they would repent to Him, so He could come back from heaven in their time. See Acts 3:19-23 on Peter’s second speech to the Jewish nation.

Israel failed miserably that test, and God had to cut all contact with them, leaving them over to the Romans for destruction. Jesus had prophesied of this before He went to the cross, knowing that in the end Israel as a nation would not repent, see Acts 28:27 – Paul quoting Isa. 6.

Christianity seems to have closed their collective eyes spiritually spoken, for these Biblical facts. They all keep on with ordinances which, at the falling away of Israel in Acts 28:25-28, were taken out for ever. Christ had these ordinances crucified with Himself at the cross.

Eph. 2:14-16 is in harmony with Col. 2:13-17,

For He Himself is our peace and our bond of unity. He who made both groups—[Jews and Gentiles]—into one body and broke down the barrier, the dividing wall [of spiritual antagonism between us],

15by abolishing in His [own crucified] flesh the hostility caused by the Law with its commandments contained in ordinances [which He satisfied]; so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thereby establishing peace.

16And [that He] might reconcile them both [Jew and Gentile, united] in one body to God through the cross, thereby putting to death the hostility.

IT IS CLEAR THAT CHRIST KILLED THE LAW

TO BE ABLE TO ESTABLISH HIS CHURCH

And this Church – as we observe it in our time here and now – is in opposition to this Word of God by His apostle to the Gentiles, Paul. They all disregard his Grace Gospel doctrine…as if it does not exist, and replaces it with their own schemes and confused teachings.

Well, not all: We Acts 28-believers holds on to the teachings of Paul, and we try to preach and live like Paul urges us to in his two Church epistles.

We do not keep any ordinances, we don’t do water baptisms, or trying to be ‘baptized in the Holy Spirit’, or using the ‘Laying on of hands’ for miraculous healings, and all of those things we can see from Acts history. It’s all long gone.

We do not belong to the ancient ‘Acts body’ of believers. We are post-Acts believers observing the Gospel of the Unsearchable Riches of Christ (Eph. 3:8).

THE PAROUSIA (COMING) OF CHRIST

The Church, the ‘One New Man’ of Eph. 2:14-15 – is not awaiting the coming of Christ to earth.

Christ is not coming down to earth for His Body, the Mystery body – no, it is the other way around: The Church are coming up to Him!

The Greek word Parousia is the word translated as the coming down to earth regarding Christ arriving to establish the prophesied millennial kingdom in Israel. The Church certainly has no part in this narrative. Which is proven by Col. 3:1-4, speaking of us as believers who will be taken super-naturally straight into heaven with Christ,

Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

2Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value].

3For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.

4When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”   (Editor’s emphasize)

We cannot find anything regarding Jesus Christ coming down to get us with Him up to heaven  (like many heretics think of with 1 Tes. 4 and the so-called rapture up in clouds) in Paul’s two Church epistles.

What we find is:  1. There are absolutely no Law of Moses or any of the ordinances to keep. 2. There is no coming (Parousia) of Christ for us – only that we, the Church are coming up to Him in the heavens.

In Epf. 4:30 Paul has an important word of exhortation for us,

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [but seek to please Him], by whom you were sealed and marked [branded as God’s own] for the day of redemption [the final deliverance from the consequences of sin].

The DAY OF REDEMPTION. Not the day of the Rapture, or the day of Christs arrival (Parousia) in Israel and such.

This glorious DAY OF REDEMPTION is only for the Mystery Church, the ‘One New Man’ – who is saved according to Paul’s free Grace Gospel as described in Ephesians and Colossians exclusively.

Now – could you all now submit gladly to Paul’s doctrine of faith for this Church dispensation, and entirely shut down all those ordinances you so eagerly try to maintain, - and thus showing in public that you really believe on Christ as He was revealed to us through the two Church epistles, Ephesians and Colossians, and rather concentrate on preaching a full free Grace Gospel, the gift of God, with no works to be made?

Eph. 2:8, 9,

For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through.” your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God;

9not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].

Paul Wrote:

“No Ordinances in the Church!”

JAN LILLEBY

We usually call this present dispensation for ‘The Dispensation of the Free Grace Gospel”.

As we take a brief look around – sifting through Christianity today, we seem to find nothing other than ordinances!

Lutherans as well as the Catholic Church are known by their formal services, having a priesthood dressed in fine colorful robes, in some occasions baptizing little infants in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, stanching water on the little ones’ foreheads. In other kind of services one will hear the vicar leading the assembly in the confession of sins, or the Lord’s Prayer; and not to forget the Holy Communion with its bread oblates and the sharing of ‘wine’. Having a priestly hierarchy, make this arrangement in Christendom look and feel like as if they are placed between God and man, as intermediators. God will listen to the vicar’s prayers as he represents the congregation. Or so it may seem. And in these classic church buildings we find an altar placed in the fore, to which the vicar turns when saying prayers.

Other denominations have their sort of ordinances, such as water baptism of adults (not infants) by full immersion, - and the Baptist Movements are known for this ordinance. It is their public ‘spiritual logo’ if you like.

And in Pentecostal assemblies you find the laying on of hands and prayers for sick believers to get healed by God, or to receive the ‘Baptism of the Holy Spirit’ and so on, and so forth. They also perform water baptism rites, like the Baptists.

And through the centuries gone, classic denominations have influenced the politicians in their nations to have certain calendar days set up as Holy Feast days, such as Christmas, Passover/Easter Holiday, and Pentecost. Jewish assemblies (synagogues) have their certain feast days according to their tradition. Seventh-day Adventist movement keeps Sabbath and certain food ordinances and other rules of details connected to these.

Ordinances, all of which was called by Paul for ‘..only shadows of that which was to come’, but since now Christ has come these things are now dismissed and out.

Ordinances which our apostle Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, wanted us to have none of!

Christianity has done the very opposite of what Paul taught us in Ephesians and Colossians.

THE LAW OF MOSES ENTIRELY ABOLISHED FOREVER

It is time to quote Paul’s teachings in this regard.

Before I do, let me remind you that Paul was the one who propagated water baptism out in the dispersion, Acts 19:1-7, AMP Bible net version,

«1It happened that while Apollos was in Corinth, Paul went through the upper [inland] districts and came down to Ephesus, and found some disciples.

2He asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed [in Jesus as the Christ]?” And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

3And he asked, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.”

4Paul said, “John performed a baptism of repentance, continually telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, [to confidently accept and joyfully believe] in Jesus [the Messiah and Savior].”

5After hearing this, they were baptized [again, this time] in the name of the Lord Jesus.

6And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in [unknown] tongues (languages) and prophesying.

7There were about twelve men in all.

Not only did Paul baptize these disciples in Ephesus, but as he laid hands on them they all were baptized (or filled) with the Holy Spirit, just as in the incident with Peter and John in Samaria in Acts 8:14-17, a follow-up of Philip’s work there,

«14When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that [the people of] Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.

15They came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit;

16for He had not yet fallen on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus [as His possession].

17Then Peter and John laid their hands on them [one by one], and they received the Holy Spirit.

Paul kept and he taught certain New Testament Jewish ordinances in the assemblies.

And he promoted the keeping of a commandment given to them by Jesus, of having Holy Communion and practicing the memorial of the Lord’s death and His promise to return, 1 Cor. 11:23-26, - also called ‘The Lord’s Supper’ -

«23For I received from the Lord Himself that [instruction] which I passed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which He was betrayed took bread;

24and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is (represents) My body, which is [offered as a sacrifice] for you. Do this in [affectionate] remembrance of Me.”

25In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant [ratified and established] in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in [affectionate] remembrance of Me.”

26For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are [symbolically] proclaiming [the fact of] the Lord’s death until He comes [again].

And let us not forget the extreme powers shown by the Holy Spirit when He guided Paul to perform the most marvelous miracles, signs and wonders among the Ephesians. Paul stirred up the entire big city of Ephesus, which held 200 000 inhabitants at that time, and (verse 17) all who lived there got to know what had taken place, both Jews and Greeks. He kept the ordinance and spiritual gift of miracles as we can learn from Acts 19:11-20

11God was doing extraordinary and unusual miracles by the hands of Paul,

12so that even handkerchiefs or face-towels or aprons that had touched his skin were brought to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out [of them].

13Then some of the traveling Jewish exorcists also attempted to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I implore you and solemnly command you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches!”

14Seven sons of one [named] Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.

15But the evil spirit retorted, “I know and recognize and acknowledge Jesus, and I know about Paul, but as for you, who are you?”

16Then the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they ran out of that house [in terror, stripped] naked and wounded.

17This became known to all who lived in Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks. And fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified and exalted.

18Many of those who had become believers were coming, confessing and disclosing their [former sinful] practices.

19And many of those who had practiced magical arts collected their books and [throwing book after book on the pile] began burning them in front of everyone. They calculated their value and found it to be 50,000 pieces of silver.

20So the word of the Lord [concerning eternal salvation through faith in Christ] was growing greatly and prevailing.

These miracles as well as the casting out of demons among the crowd, by sending forth his handkerchiefs and aprons, was part of Paul’s apostolic signs which followed the ministry everywhere he went. Such were ordinances only given for special God-chosen ministers, like Peter, Paul, John and others, namely the apostles. Philip also had this, and even Stephen – one of the seven to be helpers in the Jerusalem assembly.

No person today has any such gifts or powers. It disappeared within the first century, and hasn’t been seen since.

Quoting Paul regarding the ceasing of ordinances – which was a consequence of God and Christ having abolished the Law of Moses first:

Eph. 2:14, 15,  AMP Bible net version still,

«14For He Himself is our peace and our bond of unity.

Due to the ending of the Law of Moses – which was a spiritual Atom Bomb when he published this revelation – ALL sorts of known Jewish ordinances stopped, including also New Covenant related ones such as baptism and Holy communion  etcetera. So Paul wrote in Eph. 4, 5 that from then on, there was just ONE BAPTISM. Which certainly do mean that the other ones were gone with the Law and were abolished. Water baptism stopped. Baptism in the Holy Spirit stopped.

That one baptism is what Paul held forth as a ‘Baptism into Christ’s death’ – likened with a circumcision done without (human) hands, but performed by God in the Spirit, Col. 2:11, 12,

“In Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but by the [spiritual] circumcision of Christ in the stripping off of the body of the flesh [the sinful carnal nature],

12having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him [to a new life] through [your] faith in the working of God, [as displayed] when He raised Christ from the dead.”

The assembly in Acts period, for the Kingdom in Israel, they had same baptism into Christ’s death as we have, but had additionally the water rite as well. With us, there is no more water baptisms. We are such ones who got to be baptized by God in the same instance we came to faith in Christ, a baptism into Christ’s death – it happened without any human hands involved…just God did this as His power and intent is a free salvation, without any covenant involved. It is the gift of God.

Col. 2:13, 14 confirms what Paul wrote in Eph. 2:14, 15 – of the casting away of the entire Law of Moses,

«13When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (worldliness, manner of life), God made you alive together with Christ, having [freely] forgiven us all our sins,

14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of legal demands [which were in force] against us and which were hostile to us. And this certificate He has set aside and completely removed by nailing it to the cross.”

Here Paul let us learn that this casting/littering of the Law actually happened way back there, as Jesus was crucified in 28 CE, but was kept as a secret until God found it convenient to reveal this to His bond servant Paul as he sat in jail in Rome 63-64 CE writing his two church epistles. The Law was nailed and KILLED as Christ took it with Him on the cross! Can it be told much clearer than this?

All ordinances went down with it. Nothing was left to be kept in future times.

Paul therefore made sure that his followers understood this, and wrote Col. 2:16-19 concerning Sabbath, Holy Feast days, New Moon days, food and drink ordinances – and all of these things now cancelled and abolished, destroyed and littered forever,

«16Therefore let no one judge you in regard to food and drink or in regard to [the observance of] a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day.

17Such things are only a shadow of what is to come and they have only symbolic value; but the substance [the reality of what is foreshadowed] belongs to Christ.

18Let no one defraud you of your prize [your freedom in Christ and your salvation] by insisting on mock humility and the worship of angels, going into detail about visions [he claims] he has seen [to justify his authority], puffed up [in conceit] by his unspiritual mind,

19and not holding fast to the head [of the body, Jesus Christ], from whom the entire body, supplied and knit together by its joints and ligaments, grows with the growth [that can come only] from God.

Almost the entire Christianity is in full opposition to Paul’s exhortations in Ephesians and Colossians. They simply will not submit to Paul’s teachings, but have come up with their own opinion based doctrine. Thus it goes sideways – as we can see. Creating numerous sects and cults and what not.

The quotation of Col. 2:16-19 kills the false doctrine of faith found with Baptists, Adventists, Pentecostals, Lutherans, Catholics, - the lot. They have all failed to submit to our headmaster regarding Bible doctrine, Paul the apostle to the Gentiles.

Thus it is tempting to view Christianity as a twisted, scornful and disobedient flock of spiritual rebels, making out their own ways, not God’s.

It gives us certain ‘vibrations’ reminding of that of the infamous Pharisees which Jesus chastised and reproved during His ministry on earth. They had changed the Tora so much as to add to it almost 600 new commandments (ordinances!), laying heavy burdens upon the Jewish people in their time. They were characterized by the Lord as lovers of money and of power. They wanted to be chiefs and not servants.

The Gospel of John:

Truth for Today?

PART II

JAN LILLEBY

As I said in the first article in this series, John’s Gospel lines nicely up together with Matthew, Mark and Luke as historical writings, and is no foundation for Doctrine of Faith to the Church dispensation. It is not truth for today. It was true during the Acts period 28-62 CE.

THE TWELVE APOSTLES TO ISRAEL WAS A FROZEN NUMBER

We notice easily what took place after Judas’ suicide: By casting of lot it was God’s will to fill the vacant place in the flock, so they could be twelve and not just eleven, Acts 1:21-26 AMP Bible,

«21So of the men who have accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus spent with us,

22beginning with the baptism by John [at the outset of Jesus’ ministry] until the day when He was taken up from us—one of these men must become a witness with us [to testify] of His resurrection.”

23And they put forward two men, Joseph, the one called Barsabbas (who was surnamed Justus), and Matthias.

24They prayed and said, “You, Lord, who know all hearts [their thoughts, motives, desires], show us which one of these two You have chosen

25to occupy this ministry and apostleship which Judas left to go to his own place [of evil].”

26And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell to Matthias; and he was added to the eleven apostles.   Editor’s emphasize.

At the same time, we notice also that Paul was not taken in to fill this position. He came on stage around three years later, in Acts 7 when he witnessed and gave consent to the stoning of Stephen. Verse 4,

“Then they drove him out of the city and began stoning him; and the witnesses placed their outer robes at the feet of a young man named Saul.”

God wanted Paul free from that flock, for He knew that he should be the one to go especially to the Gentiles, and none of the twelve. The twelve were designated to preach to Israel only, within their land in the Acts period. John was one of them. And, even more than that: He was one of the three prominent leaders among them (Peter, James and John).  It was John that accompanied Peter when he healed the lame beggar outside the temple gate in Acts 3:1-10; and it was John who went to Samaria with Peter to assist Philip in Acts 8:4-16 as they had Philips converts getting baptized in the Holy Spirit by laying on of hands.

In short, John was busy going with the apostles to preach the Kingdom-gospel to Israel inside the land all the time of Acts period. And on top of this: The ‘wall of partition’ between Jew and Gentiles was in full effect all of the time, - the Law of Moses and also the New Covenant to Israel.

We find no word on God having chosen John for any other ministry than to stay in that flock of chosen apostles, twelve in a frozen number.

Actually, Paul’s words in Gal. 2:7, 8 – directed at Peter’s ministry to the circumcised (Jews) compared to his own ministry to the uncircumcised (Gentiles) must be held true for the entire flock. All twelve apostles were sent to the Jews,

But on the contrary, they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised (Gentiles), just as Peter had been [entrusted to proclaim the gospel] to the circumcised (Jews);

8(for He who worked effectively for Peter and empowered him in his ministry to the Jews also worked effectively for me and empowered me in my ministry to the Gentiles).

In the times of Acts, 28-62 CE, John was one of the twelve and was never taken over into a new and different ministry. That position was reserved for Paul only:

Acts 9:15 is clear,

«9And he was unable to see for three days, and he neither ate nor drank.

10Now in Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he answered, “Here I am, Lord.”

11And the Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the street called Straight, and ask at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul; for he is praying [there],

12and in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come in and place his hands on him, so that he may regain his sight.”

13But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many people about this man, especially how much suffering and evil he has brought on Your saints (God’s people) at Jerusalem;

14and here [in Damascus] he has authority from the high priests to put in chains all who call on Your name [confessing You as Savior].”

15But the Lord said to him, “Go, for this man is a [deliberately] chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;”   (Editor’s emphasize).

Paul was the only man chosen by the Lord in Acts period, to go to Gentiles specifically – as a permanent ministry.

None of the twelve were ever sent outside of Israel to preach to Gentile nations.

JOHN’S GOSPEL REPORT OF PETER GOING

TO THE LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL

Yes, it is John’s Gospel history which reports of Peter (and of course the other eleven) ordered to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

This complies nicely with what Jesus said of Himself in Mat. 15:24, to the Gentile woman,

He answered, “I was commissioned by God and sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

The same goes for the twelve, with the leader of the flock being told the task, John 22:15-17, Jesus revealed Himself to His disciples at the beach, and talked to Peter,

15So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these [others do—with total commitment and devotion]?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend].” Jesus said to him, “Feed My lambs.”

16Again He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with total commitment and devotion]?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend].” Jesus said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.”

17He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with a deep, personal affection for Me, as for a close friend]?” Peter was grieved that He asked him the third time, “Do you [really] love Me [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend]?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know everything; You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend].” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep».

The emphasized orders spoken to Peter in verses 15-17, reveals to us that they shall be doing the very same ministry which He had come for with caring for Israel, His flock of lost sheep:  Feed My lambs, Shepherd My sheep, Feed My sheep.

Same ministry as Jesus: To take care of the lost sheep of the house of Israel!

John was one of the twelve doing so. He never stepped out of this frame of ministry. The Bible proves it by the fact that no contra-order was given to John to change his ministry.

They who say he went to Gentiles with a Grace-type of Gospel are entirely wrong. They are telling fairy-tales. John was involved and committed by Jesus to only go to Israel, the lost sheep Jesus was sent to in His first Advent.

Paul was the only apostle God sent to us Gentiles!

Eph. 3:1-9,  Editor’s emphasize,

«1For this reason [because I preach that you and believing Jews are joint heirs] I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles—

2assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was entrusted to me [to share with you] for your benefit;

3and that by [divine] revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I have already written in brief.

4By referring to this, when you read it you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,

5which in other generations was not disclosed to mankind, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets by the [Holy] Spirit;

6[it is this:] that the Gentiles are now joint heirs [with the Jews] and members of the same body, and joint partakers [sharing] in the [same divine] promise in Christ Jesus through [their faith in] the good news [of salvation].

7Of this [gospel] I was made a minister by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of His power.

8To me, [though I am] the very least of all the saints (God’s people), this grace [which is undeserved] was graciously given, to proclaim to the Gentiles the good news of the incomprehensible riches of Christ [that spiritual wealth which no one can fully understand],

9and to make plain [to everyone] the plan of the mystery [regarding the uniting of believing Jews and Gentiles into one body] which [until now] was kept hidden through the ages in [the mind of] God who created all things.

THE JOHN 3:16 ‘HOOK UP’ (OR HICK UP?)

As Jesus once said – to Nicodemus,

“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

These words must be read under the ‘umbrella’ of Mat. 15:24 -

He answered, I was commissioned by God and sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Editor’s emphasize.

John 3:16 was NOT spoken to other than the Jews, exclusively. The translations are bad…and give the impression that Jesus was directing this speech to the entire world, all the ethnos, the Gentiles as well as the Jews.

This passage should have read:  “For God so loved and dearly prized THE NATION (Israel), that He gave His only begotten Son….”.

John wrote himself explicitly that ‘Jesus came unto His own, and His own did not receive Him…’ (John 1:11).

John was present when Jesus told His disciples, Mat. 10:5, 6,

«5Jesus sent out these twelve, instructing them: “Do not go among the Gentiles, and do not go into a city of the Samaritans;

6but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”  Editor’s emphasize.

Again and again we find Jesus repeating the importance of going to Israel, the circumcised, and NOT to the Gentiles (ethnos).

But in full disobedience to Biblical truth, Christian pastors today quote John 3:16 as if this were meant for Gentiles! They actually are reading this passage into Paul’s two Church epistles, as if it has validity outside the context described in John 3, namely God speaking only to His people, the Jews, and not Gentiles.

When Jesus said those words, Israel and the Jews they were segregated by the ‘wall of partition’ (Eph. 2:14, 15) – which was the Law of Moses. God kept Jews entirely to Himself and did not want to interfere with the Gentile world at that time.

Take a true lesson from me: ALL NEW TESTAMENT writings except Paul’s two prison epistles (plus Philemon), were written for Israel and her proselytes during Acts period 28-62 CE, and the wall of partition – the Law – kept them segregated entirely.

As Paul had the revelation given to him by God of the Mystery mentioned in Ephesians 3 and Colossians 1, He also revealed to him that He had let the Law of Moses (the wall of partition) be abolished, torn down, annulled, blotted out. It was crucified with Christ, but not revealed until Paul in 63 CE wrote Ephesians and Colossians from the jail in Rome.

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John never got that revelation (of the free Grace Gospel) like we find with Paul.

He certainly was the only apostle entrusted with this revelation. The twelve were apostles sent only to the circumcised, the Jews.

Universalism:

Killed and Obliterated by Paul!

JAN LILLEBY

You may already (I hope) read the extensive article published here, written by Otis Q. Sellers in his time.

Actually, that article should be sufficient for anyone to stay away from all forms of Universalism.

Seller’s scrutinizing work gunned down at least four of the most known forms of it, such as The Universalist Church of America, Universal Restorationists, Racial Salvationists, and Universal Reconciliationists.

Of which A.E. Knoch – who was a real ‘Snake Oil’ swindler – was the originator of the latter. His method of fraud in regard to Bible quoting laid in the fact that he (much like the JW organization of our time) quoted from his own Bible translation, the Concordant Version and thus made people believe he quoted from the real original Greek Bible versions.

Otis Q. Sellers made a correct notice of Mr. Knoch’s fraud, as follows,

“Many of Mr. Knoch's followers accept without question his claims for his version. If these claims were true, it would seem that a version could be produced that would contain no errors and need very little revision. However, if a comparison is made between the 1930 edition of The Concordant Version and the 1944 edition it will be found that hundreds of important changes have been made. Why so many changes should be necessary in a version that claims to have bridged "human fallibility" is a puzzle to me.”

How can anyone (as a Christian) flat out sell their souls to such frauds as A.E. Knoch and other Universalists, when it has been proven that Knoch changed his own Bible translation over a hundred times in 14 years?  They must be out of their mind.

UNIVERSALISM KILLED BY PAUL – AND I

MEAN ALL KINDS OF UNIVERSALISM

The very hub in all forms of Universalism seem to be that they propagate a belief, that God will give all men (if need be) a so-called ‘Second Chance’ to choose Jesus Christ as Savior. If they lived their lives as unbelievers here in this life, they will still be saved because of the grace of God in eternity.

Well, it is obviously not a thought or idea that could ever come from Paul, and not from any other Biblical person anointed by God.

This frenzy idea of a ‘Second chance’ is nothing but human twit-twat, rubbish and total non-sense altogether.

In Paul’s two Church epistles, Ephesians and Colossians, such an idea glitters by its sheer absence. It is nowhere to be found.

What we find is several passages where Paul, the apostle to us Gentiles, in a repetitive manner persist on SALVATION BY FAITH ALONE, no works (thus, no second chance!).

IN EPHESIANS WE CAN FIND PASSAGES:

Eph. 2:8, 9,  AMP Bible unless otherwise noted) –

8For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God;

9not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].

I emphasized through faith – this is the first cannon round Paul ‘fired’ against anyone who would dare to suggest any other way to salvation than by faith in Christ, no works, it is a gift of God. This latter emphasize was the second round fired by Paul: You cannot earn it, or work for it. You can only receive this gift by faith alone, HERE ON EARTH, IN THIS LIFE.

The trickster-move from Universalists has always been that they pretend as if God’s Word, as for instance Eph. 2:8, 9 – was directed at and written to all men in the world, regardless of faith or no faith. And ignorant people buy this idea. It is totally foolish and vain, - a fairy tale at best.

They simply skip the intro of Ephesians, which clearly addressed this great Word of God to NONE OTHER THAN THE BELIEVING SAINTS in the time of Paul,  Eph. 1:1-2,

1Paul, an apostle (special messenger, personally chosen representative) of Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed), by the will of God [that is, by His purpose and choice],

To the saints (God’s people) who are at Ephesus and are faithful and loyal and steadfast in Christ Jesus:

2Grace to you and peace [inner calm and spiritual well-being] from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The sure and true Word of God on salvation by faith alone, no works, it is a gift of God WAS FOR THE BELIEVERS IN CHRIST, and not the whole ‘Universal mankind’.

All mankind goes lost forever unless they take to the faith in Christ while they are alive here on earth.

The Bible has no doctrine of any ‘Automatic life after death’ for anyone; believers or not. Automatic life after death is a main factor in Spiritism circles and is not backed up by any Bible word.

The Bible says, ‘…For the dead knows nothing’. (Ecc. 9:5.)

A dead person is stone dead – and out of existence.

To be able to have life after death, God must raise you from the dead.

SALVATION IS COMING TO FULFILLMENT

ON THE DAY OF REDEPTION

Paul was an expert in using metaphors…such as Eph. 1:13, 14,

13In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, and [as a result] believed in Him, were stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit [the One promised by Christ] as owned and protected [by God].

14The Spirit is the guarantee [the first installment, the pledge, a foretaste] of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own [purchased] possession [His believers], to the praise of His glory.

I emphasized that which concerns the Holy Spirit in this passage. Overlooked totally by all Universalists. The Holy Spirit is entering our being/mind in the very same instance we come to faith in Jesus Christ here in this life, here on earth.

Having the Holy Spirit is likened – as in Paul’s metaphor – with a security, a guarantee for the promise of salvation, that we one day shall experience the final entrance into heaven up above. This just nails it, doesn’t it? If we have a guarantee in us – the Holy Spirit – already here on earth, then there is total proof of salvation ALREADY DECIDED when we are alive here, and thus making any later decision (in a supposed imaginary after-life situation) obsolete.

Eph. 2:1-6 just keeps on underlining this important Biblical fact, refuting Universalism, pointing also to what concerns those who have not the Holy Spirit, - those who was separated from God because of unforgiven sin, as emphasized by me below, - thus having Satan’s SPIRIT (!)  ---

And you [He made alive when you] were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of your transgressions and sins,

2in which you once walked. You were following the ways of this world [influenced by this present age], in accordance with the prince of the power of the air (Satan), the spirit who is now at work in the disobedient [the unbelieving, who fight against the purposes of God].

3Among these [unbelievers] we all once lived in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by the sinful self], indulging the desires of human nature [without the Holy Spirit] and [the impulses] of the [sinful] mind. We were, by nature, children [under the sentence] of [God’s] wrath, just like the rest [of mankind].

4But God, being [so very] rich in mercy, because of His great and wonderful love with which He loved us,

5even when we were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of our sins, He made us [spiritually] alive together with Christ (for by His grace—His undeserved favor and mercy—you have been saved from God’s judgment).

6And He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus, 7[and He did this] so that in the ages to come He might [clearly] show the immeasurable and unsurpassed riches of His grace in [His] kindness toward us in Christ Jesus [by providing for our redemption].

We can all see this strong hard evidence from Paul’s revelation in Ephesians, that on the one hand the unbelievers in this world are having a spirit of Satan’s power, in unbelief and in enmity with God and Christ! (v. 2).

And on the other hand, we find us believers in Christ as such ones who are blessed with the Holy Spirit, as a guarantee for the promised salvation in the heaven up above (Greek, epiouranos).

We are displayed in Paul’s epistle to the Ephesians as such ones who are already seated with Christ in the heaven up above…WHEN WE BELIEVED, HERE IN THIS LIFE, - thus we know that those who do NOT believe, here in this life, they are NOT seated with Christ in the heaven up above. Simple, isn’t it?

Salvation is proven by the original Bible texts to be a move of God which takes place ONLY when a person chooses Christ by faith, here in this present life on earth. We are saved by faith because of the Grace of God given in Christ, and no works are demanded.

In Paul’s Church doctrine there cannot be found anything saying otherwise. It has to be decided in this present life. If not, the Bible says that such unbelievers are taken down by the spirit of Satan (Eph. 2:2).

Eph. 4:30 says that our final salvation will arrive on the ‘Day of Redemption’,

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [but seek to please Him], by whom you were sealed and marked [branded as God’s own] for the day of redemption [the final deliverance from the consequences of sin].

Notice again, please: The final redemption, the day we actually enters heaven up above, is connected to the Holy Spirit, who was given ONLY to those who believed on Jesus Christ, - and this settles the case entirely. Salvation must take place here in this life first, for then at last to be effectuated on that one particular day when God concludes this Church dispensation by transferring us all into His high heaven up above (Col. 3:1-4).

Unless this predicted ‘Day of Redemption’ arrives for us, all the metaphors used by Paul, of us ‘Seated with Christ in heavenly places’, or having the Holy Spirit as a seal or guarantee  etcetera, would be in vain. Metaphors cannot bring us into heaven, but God and Christ can!

UNIVERSALISM KILLED BY COLOSSIANS 2:21-23

«21And although you were at one time estranged and alienated and hostile-minded [toward Him], participating in evil things,

22yet Christ has now reconciled you [to God] in His physical body through death, in order to present you before the Father holy and blameless and beyond reproach—

23[and He will do this] if you continue in the faith, well-grounded and steadfast, and not shifting away from the [confident] hope [that is a result] of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which [gospel] I, Paul, was made a minister. (Editor’s emphasize).

Again we find strong evidence of Paul’s Doctrine of Faith regarding salvation as something which must be decided here in this present life.

The entire verse 23 should be sufficient – especially the words ‘if you continue in the faith, well-grounded and steadfast, not shifting away from the hope of the gospel’ – this is an exhortation which displays to us that unless you KEEP ON IN FAITH, you may lose your salvation. If you turn away from the faith and the hope in Christ, you will go lost. So this settles it again: You will go lost in eternity if you leave faith when you are alive in this world. It is not settled somewhere in a supposed ‘After death’ situation.

This will be my final word on general Universalism. It is total heresy and in contradiction to all what Paul taught on salvation by faith in his two Church epistles, Ephesians and Colossians.

The Gospel of John:

Truth for Today?

JAN LILLEBY

John’s Gospel lines nicely up together with Matthew, Mark and Luke as historical writings, and is no foundation for Doctrine of Faith to the Church dispensation. It is not truth for today. It was true during the Acts period 28-62 CE.

We don’t have to search for very long, reading John’s Gospel, and other writings to see that John was never revealed the Mystery found in Ephesians and Colossians.

We can start right there at the end of Revelation 22, where we learn of John’s hope of salvation. It was not the epiouranos heaven up above, - it was the Kingdom of God on earth at the coming of Jesus from heaven, the Acts-period’s hope of salvation,

AMP Bible net version, verses 18-21,

«18I testify and warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book [its predictions, consolations, and admonitions]: if anyone adds [anything] to them, God will add to him the plagues (afflictions, calamities) which are written in this book;

19and if anyone takes away from or distorts the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away [from that one] his share from the tree of life and from the holy city (new Jerusalem), which are written in this book.

20He who testifies and affirms these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.  (Editor’s emphasize)

21The grace of the Lord Jesus (the Christ, the Messiah) be with all [the saints—all believers, those set apart for God]. Amen.»

John was hoping for the soon return of Jesus to come and rule Israel in the prophesied kingdom.  His hope is clearly written: “COME, LORD JESUS”.

Just as a ‘Bonus’ thrown in here for you, I quoted also verses 18 and 19, which really spells it out for us: This is no message of the free Grace of God. This is a threat of death and destruction if YOU DON’T ACT AS THE WORD SAY HERE. In other words, it is demanded WORKS from the believers here. The opposite of the free Grace revealed to Paul in Ephesians and Colossians.

Another sign telling us what stature of faith doctrine John sorted under, we find him nicely lined up with the other eleven apostles of Christ for the Kingdom-calling of Acts period, in Rev. 21:10-14,  AMP Bible,

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a vast and lofty mountain, and showed me the holy (sanctified) city of Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God,

11having God’s glory [filled with His radiant light]. The brilliance of it resembled a rare and very precious jewel, like jasper, shining and clear as crystal.

12It had a massive and high wall, with twelve [large] gates, and at the gates [were stationed] twelve angels; and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were written.

13On the east side [there were] three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.

14And the wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb (Christ).” (Editor’s emphasize).

Put another way just for the fun of it:  John was NOT LINED UP WITH PAUL.

And Paul was not lined up with the twelve!

Paul established a new dispensation of God, that of the free Gospel of Grace with the heaven up above as the hope of salvation. Paul’s hope (and therefore the hope of the Church) was NOT the New Jerusalem, but the heaven up above (Greek, epiouranos). Eph. 3:1-5 cannot be misunderstood unless you go on deliberately doing so,   AMP Bible,

«1For this reason [because I preach that you and believing Jews are joint heirs] I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles—

 2assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was entrusted to me [to share with you] for your benefit;

3and that by [divine] revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I have already written in brief. (Editor’s emphasize)

4By referring to this, when you read it you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,

5which in other generations was not disclosed to mankind, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets by the [Holy] Spirit;”

I will give you a Gold Medal if you can find the Mystery revealed in any of the four Gospels, or in any of the writings of John otherwise, or in the Old Testament books.

According to Paul, the Mystery was revealed to him exclusively, and not to anyone else. None of the twelve knew anything about this Mystery – and the Law of Moses abolished (Eph. 2:14, 15; Col. 2:14). The twelve would have fainted by the shock of Paul telling them that the Law of Moses was abolished! That is a part of the Mystery revelation. And since the word ‘Revelation’ is mentioned: Did you know that Paul’s revelation is far greater than the Revelation of John at Patmos? The latter was for earthly things, but Paul’s was for heavenly things.

When pastors and Bible teachers try to lead believers astray into pure witless speculations, contradicting the written Word of God, then don’t listen to these. The world is full of heretical ‘evangelists’ and talkative ‘Bible teachers’ trying to impress you by their inventive human ‘wisdom’ as they twist the Word of God into complying with their empty fantasies.

I am sad to learn that such fantasies and theories are propagated even by Acts-28 believers. This only goes to prove that they don’t know a thing, - about what Paul wrote on the Mystery in Ephesians and Colossians.

Finally, let me remind you of the stern historical fact that Paul had already (62-67 CE) distributed (by his co-workers) and taught the free Grace Gospel in the Roman Empire 20 years before anyone could read Matthew’s Gospel story (80-85 CE), for not to mention John’s – published around 92 CE, 30 years after Paul had let the free Grace Gospel, of the Mystery revelation be made known in all of Asia Minor, with its towns Ephesus, Laodicea, Hierapolis, Colossae and others.

Paul said of his ministry in this regard, Col.1:21-23, AMP Bible,

«21And although you were at one time estranged and alienated and hostile-minded [toward Him], participating in evil things,

22yet Christ has now reconciled you [to God] in His physical body through death, in order to present you before the Father holy and blameless and beyond reproach—

23[and He will do this] if you continue in the faith, well-grounded and steadfast, and not shifting away from the [confident] hope [that is a result] of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which [gospel] I, Paul, was made a minister. (Editor’s emphasize).

Paul’s self-declaration is not to be mistaken: He simply told his believers that it was HE WHO HAD BEEN MADE A MINISTER FOR THE GOSPEL OF THE MYSTERY, and not anyone else.

Again, this excludes all other men in all of the Bible history, and leaves us PAUL ONLY as the one who was entrusted with the free Grace Gospel of the Mystery calling, with the hope of salvation in epiouranos heaven with Christ.

Col. 3:1-4, AMP Bible,

«1Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

2Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value].

3For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.

4When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

We cannot ‘read John’s Gospel’ into the epistles of Ephesians and Colossians!

The Two Epistles to Timothy:

These are Acts Writings.

A Follow-up of previous articles in this topic.

JAN LILLEBY

You may already have noticed that I have articles in my web site on the Pastoral Epistles of Paul, written years ago.

Proving that they all were written during Acts period, which was before Paul had his revelation of the Mystery and that the Law of Moses was abolished (Eph. 2:14, 15; Col. 2:14). I also published writings of Irene Walther in this regard. Very systematic and in full University-standard, with a word-by-word scrutiny. Much like that of Charles Welch’s way of systematizing things.

At that time, I was unfortunate to overlook a strong proof of this Bible truth, in that I did not notice well enough the importance of Paul’s opening greetings in Colossians!

The truth is actually ‘Hidden-in-plain-sight’ as we say. Staring at you… without you grasping the important truth presented there. I shall explain.

The dispute among Acts-28 believers has been whether such epistles as Philippians, 1 and 2 Timothy, and Titus – were written pre-Acts 28 or post-Acts.

Both E.W. Bullinger and Charles Welch, and also Stuart Allen, and other followers of the three – including Oscar Baker, all held the listed epistles as post-Acts and thus to be part of faith doctrine for the Church dispensation.

I think I have proven otherwise.

And the ‘Nail-in-the-coffin’ will be this latter ‘discovery’ which I missed when I wrote the previous articles:

We find that Timothy was present with Paul as he wrote Colossians!  So, why would Paul ever try to write pastoral exhortations to him if he actually sat face-to-face with the apostle in the jail house in Rome? As the revelation of the Mystery was just a few days old. Ephesians and Colossians are held as ‘Twin-epistles’ by scholars…written both within just a couple days or so. They are considered as circular writings, and were to be read in all the assemblies in the districts of Ephesus, Hierapolis, Laodicea, Colossae and others. If Timothy was present when Paul wrote Colossians, then he was there also when Ephesians was written. Paul told him of the Mystery revelation face to face, and thus we know that the two epistles to Timothy never held anything regarding the Mystery.

Col. 1:1, 2, - AMP Bible net version,

«1Paul, an apostle (special messenger, personally chosen representative) of Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed) by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

2To the saints and faithful believers in Christ [who are] at Colossae: Grace to you and peace [inner calm and spiritual well-being] from God our Father.”

These two short verses, containing Paul’s AND Timothy’s greetings to the Colossians hereby kills the entire dispute on 1 and 2 Tim. being Acts-writings. They certainly were!

ONLY TWO WRITINGS HOLD THE MYSTERY REVELATION

Sometimes we must have a look at what is not present in certain Biblical writings, - more than what is present there.

Such as in this present case.

We have to ask, “What cannot be found or seen in Philippians, 1 and 2 Tim, and Titus?”

The answer is quite simple really, - we cannot find any clue of the two most important factors taught by Paul in Ephesians and Colossians, namely the abolishing of the Law of Moses; and the mention of the Mystery revealed to Paul. These two factors HAS TO BE PRESENT if a writing is a post-Acts work or not.

Of course, Philemon is a clear exemption since this contains no doctrine of faith. It is rather to be held as a display of how Paul took responsibility for the fugitive slave, Onesimus, and compensated Philemon for his loss. It was written post-Acts for sure. Paul actually wrote same type of greeting to him as he wrote to Colossians,

“Paul, a prisoner [for the sake] of Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed), and our brother Timothy,” Phil.v. 1.

These three epistles were written during a few days interval only, and Timothy was present with Paul in the same interval of days.

The simple conclusion is then: Only Ephesians and Colossians contain these two important Bible facts: The Law abolished and the Mystery revealed. End of dispute.

I will friendly appeal to my fellow Acts-28 believers out there: Please do retract or re-write any material published in favor of these epistles (Philippians, 1 & 2 Tim. and Titus) as being post-Acts epistles, for these are not. The Law of Moses was in effect as well as the New Covenant offered to Israel by the return of Christ at Israel’s repentance. Even the known aspect of works together with Law as it was in Acts-period can be seen in these writings. It crashes with the Mystery revelation of faith and NO works. Eph. 2:8, 9.

If you are a true Acts-28 believer, you certainly would not like to drag the abolished Law of Moses with you when preaching Christ and His free Grace Gospel!

There exists a dispute regarding the time-aspect though. Some hold to the year 63 CE regarding Paul in his (second) prison in Rome writing Ephesians and Colossians, while other scholars anticipate it can have been 64-65 CE – after the great city fire, when Emperor Nero in his rage mass-arrested ‘suspects’ to punish them for that fire. History tells of Nero lighting up his big garden with martyrs nailed to poles and set to burn. We have seen document-dramas on TV of this horror. But such dispute cannot rock the very truth of Timothy being present with Paul in the exact time that Paul wrote his new revelation in his two Church epistles, Ephesians and Colossians.

2 Tim  2:24:

SCRUTINIZING A VERSE

JAN LILLEBY

Why would I go scrutinizing this one singular verse?

I will come to that shortly.

Below I have enlisted this verse as it reads in the major Bible translations.

Just so you, if you want to, can compare these verses to see if any one of these stands out.

Well, I admit that I have made this an easy pick: In emphasized fonts I have marked the translations which seem the most Biblical ones, since they are true to the actual meaning of this verse.

These are:  Berean Literal Bible, New American Standard Bible, NASB 1995, NASB 1977, Legacy Standard Bible, Holman Christian Standard Bible, New American Bible, NET Bible, Weymouth New Testament,

A majority of these translations are in general reading, ..And the Lord’s servant must not….

And in 9 of these enlisted, it reads either, …The bond-servant of the Lord, or it reads, …The Lord’s slave…

When John addressed his Book of Revelation, he addressed it to the APOSTLES AND THEIR ASSEMBLIES – and definitely not to the entire world, globally speaking. Revelation was written to the Kingdom-believers during Acts period, represented by the apostles, who were ‘Bond-servants’ – or ‘Slaves’ if you like!

Rev. 1:1 in NASB,

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John.”

What about it?

In those times, as the apostles ministered to Israel and proselytes, they were the Lord’s servants in this meaning: 1. They were personally chosen by Christ for the ministry.  2. They – being Jews – were under the Old Covenant (Law of Moses) and also of the New Covenant which was laid on-top of the old one (Heb. 9:15).

The dispensation of the church had not yet begun.

And in my exposition of both first and second epistle to Timothy, which you can read here in my web, it is clear that these were written by Paul pre-Acts 28.

So, when telling Timothy that he, as a servant of the Lord, should act in this or that manner, or doing this or that and so forth – he wrote to him as one who was under same kind of chosen status, namely chosen personally by Christ – via the authority of Paul’s apostolic calling.

All the verses are right. But some of these are ‘better’ translated, because the uses of ‘bond-servant’ and of ‘slave’ are what the Greek originals means. They were all totally obedient to the Lord, led by the Holy Spirit, and operating with the sign-gifts and miracles in their ministries.

In short, they were nothing like us today. They had an entirely different lifestyle, in that they did and spoke exactly what the Lord wanted them to. They were all in perfect order, not ridden by human error or false preaching and the like.

Thus we, in this present dispensation of the ‘One New Man’ – the Body of Christ, according to Paul’s Gospel of the free grace, must not be confused with the exhortations Paul displayed in his writings to Timothy.

In the post-Acts epistles Ephesians and Colossians, we cannot find anything which corresponds with the doctrinal advice given to Timothy. Take for instance Paul’s very detailed listing of qualifications he charged for Timothy:

1 Tim. 1:1-11,  AMP Bible net version -

Paul, an apostle (special messenger, personally chosen representative) of Christ Jesus by the commandment of God our Savior, and of Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed) our Hope [the fulfillment of our salvation],

2to Timothy, my true son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace [inner calm and spiritual well-being] from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3As I urged you when I was on my way to Macedonia, stay on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain individuals not to teach any different doctrines,

4nor to pay attention to legends (fables, myths) and endless genealogies, which give rise to useless speculation and meaningless arguments rather than advancing God’s program of instruction which is grounded in faith [and requires surrendering the entire self to God in absolute trust and confidence].

5But the goal of our instruction is love [which springs] from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

6Some individuals have wandered away from these things into empty arguments and useless discussions,

7wanting to be teachers of the Law [of Moses], even though they do not understand the terms they use or the subjects about which they make [such] confident declarations.

8Now we know [without any doubt] that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully and appropriately,

9understanding the fact that law is not enacted for the righteous person [the one in right standing with God], but for lawless and rebellious people, for the ungodly and sinful, for the irreverent and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,

10for sexually immoral persons, for homosexuals, for kidnappers and slave traders, for liars, for perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine,

11according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.

Notice Paul’s references to the Law of Moses. He called it for ‘good’ if one USES IT LAWFULLY. Which confirms that the Law was in effect in the Acts period, and Paul’s pointing to it here confirms that it was in effect. Everything Paul taught Timothy he taught under the Law of Moses and of the New Covenant.

If we try to apply any of the rules he charged Timothy to follow, we will make the error in applying the Law in the dispensation of the free Grace of God.

The Law has been long gone. It died with Christ at the cross in 28 CE, but this abolishment of the Law was held in secrecy until Paul was told by Christ as he wrote Ephesians and Colossians. Paul revealed to the believers that Christ had abolished (Greek, katargesas, which also can mean thrown away, littered, annulled, and so forth).

And I am so pleased with that: We are not under the Law of Moses or under the New Covenant to Israel. The Law was abolished entirely, Eph. 2:14, 15; Col. 2:14.

We are NOT the Lord’s slaves!  We are not the Lord’s bond-servants. We are His Body – the One New Man – for which Christ had to abolish the Law to be able to create this Body. We died with Christ and we rose with Christ, Col. 2:20; 3:1.

We, the believers of 2023 and on, are voluntary ministering/working on behalf of the word of God, just as each one of us chooses. None of us has been ‘told by the Lord’ to go and do this, do that, go to that place, or go to this place’ – no, God is not revealing Himself to any of us in this dispensation. He sent his one sole apostle Paul to tell us the good news of salvation by faith in Christ, as told in Ephesians and Colossians.

This post-Acts Body did not exist when Paul wrote to Timothy. They only preached the Kingdom-gospel to Israel and proselytes.

A friendly advice to all my fellow-believers in Acts-28 communities around the world:  Please be aware not to confuse Acts-writings with its Law based doctrine of ‘Faith plus works’ – like this one example I brought you here, Paul’s letters to Timothy – with the post-Acts free Gospel of Grace found in the two final epistles.

Regarding Mystery-doctrine and its free Gospel of Grace, we can only find this in Ephesians and Colossians.

You cannot find the Mystery at all in any pastoral epistle, or in Philippians. Only in the twin-epistles…Ephesians/Colossians can we read the doctrine of faith for the post-Acts Body!

Check out  2 Tim. 4:1-5  …exhortation by Paul in the light of Acts hope: Kingdom of God on earth,

I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:

2preach the word [as an official messenger]; be ready when the time is right and even when it is not [keep your sense of urgency, whether the opportunity seems favorable or unfavorable, whether convenient or inconvenient, whether welcome or unwelcome]; correct [those who err in doctrine or behavior], warn [those who sin], exhort and encourage [those who are growing toward spiritual maturity], with inexhaustible patience and [faithful] teaching.

3For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine and accurate instruction [that challenges them with God’s truth]; but wanting to have their ears tickled [with something pleasing], they will accumulate for themselves [many] teachers [one after another, chosen] to satisfy their own desires and to support the errors they hold,

4and will turn their ears away from the truth and will wander off into myths and man-made fictions [and will accept the unacceptable].

5But as for you, be clear-headed in every situation [stay calm and cool and steady], endure every hardship [without flinching], do the work of an evangelist, fulfill [the duties of] your ministry.

We readily understand this last quotation as Acts-doctrine, Paul referring to the second coming of Christ to judge the living and the dead – it is the Parousia - Greek for coming to earth visibly. Timothy to operate as an Evangelist has ties to 1 Cor. 12-14 on the five ministry offices.

Enjoy the study of these verse-variants below.

SIGNS AND MIRACLES WERE

TONED DOWN  BEFORE

THE CRUCIFIXION

JAN LILLEBY

We learn from the New Testament that the apostles continued the ministry of Jesus after He had gone up to heaven. They were given SIGNS to attesting that they were sent by God to Israel.

The twelve should bring the Gospel of the Kingdom of God on earth to Israel, and Jesus should return from heaven as soon as Israel had repented as a nation.

The SIGNS and miracles followed their ministries…as we can see throughout Acts period.

The final miracles and healings reported in Acts were those performed by Paul, as he cured several sick people at Malta, Acts 28:7-10 – however, notice that prior to these healings Paul had performed a SIGN – in that he did not have any negative effects after a snake bit his hand. The islanders there started to speculate whether Paul was one of the gods!  Thus – the Lord had started to have these heathens pay Paul special attention. And THEN Paul went on and he cured many sick people.  AMP Bible web version -

In the vicinity of that place there were estates belonging to the leading man of the island, named Publius, who welcomed and entertained us hospitably for three days.

8And it happened that the father of Publius was sick [in bed] with recurring attacks of fever and dysentery; and Paul went to him, and after he had prayed, he laid his hands on him and healed him.

9After this occurred, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases were coming to him and being healed.

10They also gave us many honors [gifts and courtesies expressing respect]; and when we were setting sail, they supplied us with all the things we needed.

This healing of Publius’ sick father, is the only incident telling of an apostle first praying, and then laying hands on the sick. A similar incident to what Peter did when raising Tabitha from the dead. FIRST he prayed, and then he called Tabitha to stand up. The Lord had to make a SIGN regarding Paul…and He used the incident with the snakebite. I believe that this sign opened up for Paul to care for the sick ones.

This passage in Acts 28 of Paul at Malta, may be the only passage where I dare ‘read in’ …even though it says nothing of it…that Paul most probably must have told them of Jesus Christ. It seems logical since after all, it is Paul we are talking of…and not just some ‘nobody’ hanging around. Why Luke did not mention this in his writing, I cannot find a plausible reason. At least: Paul must have prayed in Jesus’ name when healing Publius’ father.

But as for Jesus, and His ministry on earth before He was crucified, such SIGNS were seen with Him in the early period of it. But as it drew nigh to the Passover in 28 CE, when He would be crucified, Jesus began to tone down the testimonies of His miracles.

He started to tell people to keep quiet about all His miracles and SIGNS, and even He told them not to tell anyone that He was the Messiah.

So, many Christians are puzzled over this. Jesus came on at full force early, starting with the wedding in Cana. He made vine out of water! He multiplied a little food supply in a basket, some fish and some loaves of bread – and God performed a miracle so great that nobody could really explain what happened. They fed 5000 people, and there were lots of food left over after the meal! (John 6:1-14). He did same thing not much later feeding 4000 (Mat. 15:32-39)…so this kind of miracle happened twice. He walked on the Sea of Galilee, He stilled the storm by saying a word. He raised Lazarus from the dead…and a vast number of miracles, which were healings of the sick and setting demon possessed free.

But – as it closed in on the Passover when He would be crucified, He toned it all down. He deliberately wanted to ensure that the evidence of the SIGNS and healings and these wonders, did not convince their leadership that He really was Messiah of God. He had to be hung on that cross – He had to ensure He would take upon Him all the sin of the world, and so giving mankind salvation, as many who would take to the faith in Him.

But after this was done, and He finally sent out His apostles as we see in Acts, there were no more restrictive attitude in regard to SIGNS and miracles. God wanted these SIGNS to follow His apostles everywhere they came, to attesting to the people that they were sent by Him.

Mark 16:20 is a perfect testimony of this,

“And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord was working with them and confirming the word by the signs that followed.]”

SCRIPTURE PASSAGES OF SIGNS BEING TONED DOWN

Mat. 16:16-21, AMP Bible web version -

“Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the Son of the living God.”

17Then Jesus answered him, “Blessed [happy, spiritually secure, favored by God] are you, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood (mortal man) did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

18And I say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades (death) will not overpower it [by preventing the resurrection of the Christ].

19“I will give you the keys (authority) of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth will have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you lose [permit, declare lawful] on earth will have [already] been loosed in heaven.”

20Then He gave the disciples strict orders to tell no one that He was the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed). (Editor’s emphasize)

21From that time on Jesus began to show His disciples [clearly] that He must go to Jerusalem, and endure many things at the hands of the elders and the chief priests and scribes (Sanhedrin, Jewish High Court), and be killed, and be raised [from death to life] on the third day.”

Mat. 17:9 - after the transfiguration at the mount,

And as they were going down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Do not tell anyone what you have seen until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”

They had not only seen Jesus enveloped in a sharp super-natural heavenly light; they actually heard the voice of God speak to them, and they also witnessed Moses and Elijah appearing and talking with Jesus! The voice from above said:

“This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased and delighted! Listen to Him!”

God Himself talked to them and saying straight forward, that Jesus was His beloved Son!

Even if we find Jesus performing healings in the temple just two days before His crucifixion, He did so since He knew that the Sanhedrin Counsel of Priests already had decided to kill Him. Thus He got on with full measure of miracles and healings again. He received great cheer calls from many children who saw what Jesus did for the sick.

Mat. 21:14-17 is very touching, and could bring on tears in our eyes -

And the blind and the lame came to Him in [the porticoes and courts of] the temple area, and He healed them.

15But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful and miraculous things that Jesus had done, and heard the boys who were shouting in [the porticoes and courts of] the temple [in praise and adoration], “Hosanna to the Son of David (the Messiah),” they became indignant

16and they said to Him, “Do You hear what these children are saying?” And Jesus replied to them, “Yes; have you never read [in the Scripture], ‘OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF INFANTS AND NURSING BABIES YOU HAVE PREPARED and PROVIDED PRAISE FOR YOURSELF’?”

17Then He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there.

Notice verse 15 and the madness and evil having possessed that flock of Pharisees with the Chief Priests and scribes – the very leaders of Israel, who should rather embraced Jesus, kissed Him and welcomed Him in the temple! Can you imagine such spiritual almost possessive blindness? They were so filled with hate and indignation against Jesus, that they admitted He had done marvelous miracles, and yet – they would have Him killed.

Ah…but I think I can explain this phenomenon. We find Jesus’ own teaching of this in Mat. 13:10-17 – quoting Isa. 6 to them; the very same passage also quoted by Paul in the presence of the Sanhedrin Counsel in Rome 60 CE, told in Acts 28:25-28.  AMP Bible web version -

«10Then the disciples came to Him and asked, “Why do You speak to the crowds in parables?”

11Jesus replied to them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted.

12For whoever has [spiritual wisdom because he is receptive to God’s word], to him more will be given, and he will be richly and abundantly supplied; but whoever does not have [spiritual wisdom because he has devalued God’s word], even what he has will be taken away from him.

13This is the reason I speak to the crowds in parables: because while [having the power of] seeing they do not see, and while [having the power of] hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand and grasp [spiritual things].(Editor’s emphasize)

14In them the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, ‘YOU WILL HEAR and KEEP ON HEARING, BUT NEVER UNDERSTAND;
AND YOU WILL LOOK and KEEP ON LOOKING, BUT NEVER COMPREHEND;

15FOR THIS NATION’s HEART HAS GROWN HARD,
AND WITH THEIR EARS THEY HARDLY HEAR,
AND THEY HAVE [tightly] CLOSED THEIR EYES,
OTHERWISE THEY WOULD SEE WITH THEIR EYES,
AND HEAR WITH THEIR EARS,
AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART, AND TURN [to Me]
AND I WOULD HEAL THEM [spiritually].’

16But blessed [spiritually aware, and favored by God] are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.

17I assure you and most solemnly say to you, many prophets and righteous men [who were honorable and in right standing with God] longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”

God allowed Israel to become stricken with spiritual blindness, deafness and a blocked mind which could not comprehend what God spoke to them.

Jesus knew this, and as I wrote above – He willfully played with it: He toned down His miracles, like, Hush-hush, when Calvary came in sight…some time before this He had also began to speak to the people in parables. So they could understand?  No, so they SHOULD NOT UNDERSTAND and thus reject the Son of God, Jesus Christ. He knew He had to be crucified for the sin of this world. He knew He was the Lamb of God, the perfect sacrifice and so He willfully played along so He would end up at the cross. No wonder He said the prayer as He hung on the cross, Forgive them Father, for they know not what they are doing. God had stricken them with this blindness, deafness and lack of understanding.

This is why Christ sent out His apostles to them, after His ascension. Since now the sin had been atoned for at the cross, it was the will of God that Israel should repent and believe on Jesus and be baptized. God no longer wanted His people to be spiritually blind and deaf and not understanding. The apostles followed their calling to the very end, as told in Acts. Jesus would have come back from heaven in the times of the apostles, if only Israel, the entire nation had repented and believed on Jesus Christ. Peter’s second speech in Acts 3 tells all about it. Heaven should house Jesus until the times of refreshing arrived (when Israel had repented) - and the Kingdom of God on earth, in Israel, would have been established.

This Kingdom on earth shall indeed be established; it is no longer so far into the future. But before this can happen, God shall take the Church into heaven like told in Col. 3:1-4 – and we shall be appearing with Christ in glory up in the heavens. Then God will send down to Israel Moses and Elijah (Rev. 11) to set things straight with Israel, to bring her back as a nation for God.

In our time, since the apostles died in the first century there has been no signs, no miracles, no divine healings, no casting out of demons,….no nothing!

Signs and such were only given for the sake of Israel so they could come to faith in Christ. After Israel’s destruction in 70 CE it is definitely over what concerns SIGNS and miracles. Such super-natural works of the Holy Spirit seen with the apostles were never inherited by Christendom. The Church, the Body of Christ has no such mandate including miracles and signs. Not in the least!

Paul taught this straight out from the Law of Moses, as he wrote 1 Cor. 14:21, 22,

It is written in the Law, “BY MEN OF STRANGE TONGUES AND BY THE LIPS OF FOREIGNERS I WILL SPEAK TO THIS PEOPLE, AND NOT EVEN THEN WILL THEY LISTEN TO ME,” says the Lord.

22Therefore, [unknown] tongues are [meant] for a [supernatural] sign, not to believers but to unbelievers [who might be receptive]; while prophecy [foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people] is not for unbelievers but for believers.” (Editor’s emphasize)

Paul quoted some of the Law of Moses when teaching on tongues: It was thus without doubt a SIGN meant only for Israel. And so it went, - Israel would not listen to Christ or His apostles, in spite of all the SIGNS they had in their ministry to Israel, like Tongues, miracles, healings, casting out of demons, raising dead persons….all SIGNS mentioned in Acts. Paul used this one spiritual gift, tongues, as an example for all the signs which followed the apostles in ministry. So this solidly proves that SIGNS were only for Israel; never for the Church, the Body of Christ. The Church was kept secret in God from before creation, but revealed to Paul shortly before he wrote Ephesians and Colossians in 63 CE. Ref. Eph. 3:1-9 in which he gives a declaration of the Mystery revealed, the Body of Christ.

“Before. Israel were urged to turn again in order that God might send the Christ unto them, even Jesus. Ye men of Israel ...turn again... that He may send the Christ Who hath been appointed for you, even Jesus (AC 3:12-21).

After. Israel's hope of the Lord's return was deferred, for Paul declared, in the words of Isaiah, that they were too blind to fulfil the required condition of turning again. After that Paul had spoken one word ...Go thou unto this People, and say...their eyes have they closed; lest haply they should ...turn again, and I should heal them (Ac 28:25-27).

Before. The. word of salvation was sent to Israel with a warning concerning what might come if they failed to give heed. Children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you that feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent...Beware therefore, test that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets (Ac 13:26,40).

After. The salvation of God was sent to the Gentiles in consequence of Israel's failure to give heed. Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it (Ac 28:28).

Before. Believing Gentiles, like Cornelius, were permitted to partake of the word which God had sent unto Israel. The word which God sent unto the children of Israel (Ac 10:36).

After. The Gentiles received in the dispensation of the mystery committed to Paul, a word which God had sent especially to them. You Gentiles, it ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation He made known unto me the mystery (Eph. 3:1-3).

Before. Paul was bound for the hope of Israel. Because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain (Ac 28:20).

After. He became a prisoner for the Gentiles in connection with the revelation of the mystery given to him for them. I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles...how that by revelation He made known unto me the mystery (Eph. 3:1-3).

Before. Paul's sufferings concerned the hope of the promise made unto Israel's fathers. And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers: Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hopes sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews (Ac 26:6-7).

After. He suffered in making known the hope of the mystery to the Gentiles. Who now rejoice in my suffering for you...according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you ...even the mystery ...among the Gentiles; which is Christ among you, the hope of glory (Col 1:24-27, margin).

Before: A calling was in view whose blessings are associated with a time "from" the foundation of the world. Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world (M't. 25:34).

After. A calling came into view whose blessings are associated with a time "before" the foundation of the world. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world (Eph 1:3,4).

Before. Believers were said to have been identified with Christ in His burial and resurrection. We are buried with Him by baptism Into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life (Rom. 6:4).

After. They are said to have the added blessing of being raised and seated with Him. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:5,6).

Before. Some believers had a place of blessing where angels dwell. But ye are come onto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels (Heb. 12:22).

After. A higher place of blessing was revealed, for as seated with Christ in the heavenly places we are far above all principality and power. Set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, tar above all principality and power (Eph. 1:20,21, compare 2:6). Ye are complete in Him, Which is the head of ail principality and power (Col 2:10).

Before. The "hope" connected with the day of the Lord was something the believers knew perfectly. For what is our hope,...Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? (1Th. 2:19). The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven...But of the times and seasons brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly (1Th. 4:16 to 5:2).

After. Prayers for enlightenment are necessary that the "hope" of this time might be known. Prayers that...The eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of His calling (Eph 1:16-18).

Before. Believers looked to meet the Lord in the air during His descent from far above all, that event is termed His revelation (apokalupsis) or coming (parousia). waiting for the revelation (apokalupsis) of our Lord Jesus Christ (1Co 1:7, margin). I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming (parousia) of our Lord Jesus Christ.

After. Blessings of believers are with Christ. He is far above all. So they look for the manifestation in Glory where He is. The terms apokalupsis and parousia are not used here. When Christ, Who is our life, shaft appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory (Col:4).

Before. Paul was a minister of the New Covenant. This had been promised to Israel, not ever to Gentiles. Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, .and with the house of Judah (Jer ,31:31). Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament (new covenant) (2 Co. 3:6).

After. Paul was made a minister of the mystery which had been hid from ages and from generations. Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil (complete) the Word of God; even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to His saints (Col 1:25,26).

Before. The mystery was no part of Paul's ministry. All that he said was limited to those things written in Moses and the prophets. I continue unto this day...saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come (Ac 26:22).

After. Paul was a prisoner. He received a truth distinct from anything he had spoken earlier because it had not been seen by the prophets. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given ...to make all men see what is the dispensation of the mystery which from the beginning of the world bath been hid in God (Eph 3:8,9).

Before. 'there was more than one baptism. In the house of Cornelius there was both a baptism of spirit and of water. The holy ghost fell on all them which heard the word...Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the holy ghost as weft as we? (Ac 10:4J-48, cf. 10:15-16).

After. In the unity of the Spirit, there can be only one baptism. Which is it? Even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism (Eph 4:4,5).

Before. Paul healed the sick by laying on of his hands. Evidential gifts accompanied the preaching of the hope of Israel. They were a part of the kingdom of heaven. The father of Publius lay sick of a fever and a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and heated him (Ac 28:8).

After. Paul no longer healed in this way. The mystery was not proven by signs. Healing might be granted, but only by the sovereign power of God at His discretion. Epaphroditus was nigh unto death, but no miracle of healing was granted. See Ph'p. 2:25-30. Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick (2 Tim. 4:20).

Before: A calling was in view whose blessings are associated with a time "from" the foundation «f the world. Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world (M't 25:34).

We are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life (Ro 6:4).

After. They are said to have the added blessing of being raised and seated with Him. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph 2:5,6).

Before. Some believers had a place of blessing where angels dwell. But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels (Heb 12:22).

After. A higher place of blessing was revealed, for as seated with Christ in the heavenly places we are far above all principality and power. Set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power (Eph 1:20,21, compare 2:6). Ye are complete in Him, Which is the head of all principality and power (Col 2:10).

Before. The "hope" connected with the day of the Lord was something the believers knew perfectly. For what is our hope,...Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? (1Th 2:19). The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven...But of the times and seasons brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly (1Th 4:16 to 5:2).

After. Prayers for enlightenment are necessary that the "hope" of this time might be known. Prayers that ...The eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of His calling (Eph 1:16-18).

Before. Believers looked to meet the Lord in the air during His descent from far above all, that event is termed His revelation (apokalupsis) or coming (parousia). waiting for the revelation (apokalupsis) of our Lard Jesus Christ (1Co 1:7, margin). 1 pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming (parousia) of our Lord Jesus Christ

AFTER.  Believers looked to be manifested with Christ IN GLORY far above all heavens. This event is called the epiphany or appearing. (Col. 3:1-4) where the believer is said to be seated in the heavenly places. Eph. 2:6
